It would've been nice to spend more time in Dresden. I was just there two months ago and there's so much history with the city and WWII that it seems a shame the producers just skipped it.

Agreed on Dresden. I spent several months there for work a few years ago and loved it. My wife came over to visit while I was there and loved it also. When I saw it on the previews last week, I was looking forward to what they might see and do in Dresden. Turns out pretty much all they did was pick up a car to drive to Berlin. Lame.

Maybe they were afraid of offending another group of people if they stopped at anything war-related.

On another topic, it's sad/frightening to see how many people don't know basic history. Hmm, who said "Tear down this wall"? Didn't one of the teams say something like "Could it be the Great Wall of China?".

I think the sad part was the natives knowing more than the Americans ..

Embarrassing is a better term.

They should have made all the teams eat that whole Haggis. eek.gif

Now that YouTube is finally gone, I can honestly say this may be the first season that I won't be annoyed no matter who wins.

Of course I'm rooting for Bates and Anthony above all others, but I won't be actively rooting against others like I have in the past.
Another note to my "conspiracy theory" post from before....my wife mentioned last night that with the thefts of the previous seasons as well as this one, they were all during a non elimination round.

Unless I have a strong dislike for a team, I tend to like to see the prizes spread out as much as possible. One couple has now won a pair of cars and 10k each so I hope their winning ways are now over. Bates and Anthony won cash and a few trips so while I wouldn't mind seeing them win, they wouldn't be my first choice. The hot country singers haven't won anything but they've already won the genetic lottery so that's not a bad consolation prize.biggrin.gif So, that means I hope the roller derby moms win as they've won nothing so far.

What are you referring to here?

"YouTube" means the guy/girl team that are bloggers on the YouTube. It took me a few moments to decipher that one too. When I saw that the Roller Derby Moms and YouTube were stuck doing the Barrel Roll task, I knew that the RDM team was going to win, but I thought the YT guy was going to be the one that was going to have problems moving the barrels. :-)

Ah, thanks. For a moment there, I thought I had missed a HUGE story, i.e, "YouTube.com shut down!" eek.gif

The way the edit went on Sunday I thought Bates and Anthony would be the first team to arrive at the pitstop ..

So did I. I'm almost always right when I try to guess based on the edit, but they had me fooled this time.

Got me too!

I kept thinking Bates and Anthony would be penalized for picking up and carrying the barrels? I thought the task was roll only.

I thought that too. Does anyone know the exact wording of the clue? It probably didn't say something like "must".
The full clue was never shown in detail. There was a second where the top half with the Haggis instructions were visible and just a portion of the first sentence of the Barrel instructions and it said "Deliver 8 barrels of whiskey." I must say that unless they must use a specific technique or pattern specified, anything goes. I don't think they imagined any contestant would want to pick up and carry those heavy barrels instead of rolling them. I suppose if you want to make it harder on yourself, then it's permissible.
We pondered the same question and even included our own "However" to Phil's announcement when they arrived at the checkpoint. But apparently carrying the barrels was acceptable, if not crazy!
I can only guess that the written clue said "deliver" .. I'm sure if it said "roll" they would have been required to redo the ones that were carried ..

Phil did say "roll" on his clip which may be where the confusion is ..

And one things for sure, the barrels were certainly not full ..

I was sure that was what I heard, but I had already deleted it from the TiVo before the issue came up on this thread.

It was what he said .. but I believe it's the instructions on the card that are official .. I'm sure Phil never expected anyone to actually carry a barrel ..

WS65711 : So undelete it - if it is not too late.

My wife and I were thinking the same thing.

Good idea... I never even thought of that! redface.gif
I don't think I've ever undeleted anything in the 16 months I've had the TiVo's eek.gif

Edit: Ok, I've reviewed the evidence. biggrin.gif The name of the Detour was "Whisky Rollin'". As someone mentioned earlier, the readable portion of the instruction card only used the word "deliver". Phil used the word "Rollin'" when describing the challenge, but didn't indicate the teams should roll the barrels. It probably never occurred to the producers that anyone would actually attempt to carry the barrels . . . eek.gif

I'm glad to see the brothers take the win. I didn't like the married couple. The guy seemed like an arrogant jerk and the wife could be caustic and whiny at times. I hoped the roller derby moms would have beat them too.

looks like bates and Anthony smoked em.. no drama at the end. They got lucky to find their secret agent so fast. Glad they won and overall it was a good season

Agreed, but on the last challenge would it have been against the rules just to throw the non-needed balls (globes) out of that bin? That would have saved a lot of time.
thats the first thing we said.. just start throwing them out to make it easier..
Wondering a bit how that secret agent challenge worked. Was each team assigned a specific clue/secret agent? Otherwise, how would the briefcase combo be set properly to their finish order in the 3 countries? Seems like that could take a little bit of randomness out of getting an agent who was positioned closer to where they started. I suppose the agent could have just set the combo on the fly and they didn't show that.

That's what it looked like to me .. 3 agents / 3 different phrases

Yes, but each team had to be pre-assigned a specific agent/phrase or the briefcase wouldn't open with their custom combination.

If that's how it worked, I was wondering how they positioned the agents to make sure 1 agent wasn't in a better spot than another.

In a scenario where each team just takes any of the clues, they don't have to try to position the agents fairly, it's luck of the draw on which clue you get. In this case, certainly some thought had to go towards how to fairly position the agents.
