Just as the title says, wondering where the best cheapest place to order a somewhat decent SPL meter would be.

Do you live near a Radio Shack. If you do that is a good place.

Most folks just go to their local Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/family/ind...goryId=4388381

I picked up the CM-140 from Sweetwater Music about a year ago. Good organization to deal with. The CM-130 is half the price.

According to the web page below that meter only measures between 50Hz - 5,000Hz. The RS model beats that (32 - 10,000, C weighted). Can you mail order RS stuff from Canada?

Without going back and looking...didn't you post that you bought a SVS sub? They used to offer a package price with the Shack meter and Avia disc.

I bought the Galaxy Checkmate CM-140 at Long & McQuade Musical Instruments for CDN$155. Their website only displays the CM-130 which is rated down to 125 Hz. Don't buy that one; get the CM-140 instead which is rated to 31.5 Hz.

Here is a short review of the CM-140 at Sound & Vision mag:
