I have searched for threads and on the web but have found no answer. I want the Avatar disc. Also would I need a different emitter or the on that I have from Mitts?

Thanks for your help!

Ok i'm sorry i may be wrong. I looked at mitsubishi's website and it looks like any active shutter glasses will work with the TV. You have a choice of DLP Link glasses or IR emitter glasses. DLP Link will say so on various websites, and IR are what Sony, panasonic and Samsung use for their glasses. With that said if you want to use IR glasses from Panasonic you need the IR Emitter to go with your mitsubishi. It's included in the 3D Starter kit they're selling. From your first post it sounds like you may already have it though.

Simple enough test if the Samsung one's sync and work I don't see why any other brand wouldn't...buy some take it home and test it, if it works great, if not than return it. I'm sorry i haven't been able to find a straight answer either way. It says that IR glasses should work, so theoretically they should, but you know how technology is, it's never as easy as they claim it is.

Yeah, i am not completely dumb when it comes to tech stuff so if it is stumping fairly knowledgeable folks then average joes must really be a bit lost. Same situation when hd came out.

Do you think dlp link or IR emitter has the better quality?

Matt

Same thing. DLP link is just used for DLP and IR is what the other manufacturers are using. They're both active shutter glasses

Be careful with IR emitters, they won't just work with the glasses because they're IR.

Infrared light is just the generic technology for transmission, it's not a standard. Each manufacturer uses different signals to communicate with their glasses, similarly to how most TV remotes use IR but don't control the same devices.

You'll need to use glasses that match your emitter.
Xpand is the only manufacturer to provide so called "universal" glasses that can understand multiple IR formats used by the emitters of TV manufacturers

Pretty much any SSG-2100x or xx or x/xx or whatever (Basically, SSG-2100*) should be compatible, whether they are branded Mitsubishi or Samsung, regardless of what combo package they're in. The other manufacturer's glasses however, will not.
