Yep. All 366 episodes are done. But it really wasn't a full rip. I already had them on disk so all I had to do was a copy/re-name/place in the correct season folder. So while it was somewhat slow, it wasn't like I had to rip each individual episode. I also did Dead Wood(that was a full rip). That was 3 seasons of 12 episodes each and I did a mini series called The Stand. Now, I do have other series and mini series that I am thinking about putting on. For instance Band of Brothers is one that will go on for sure. But I have others that I am still debating if I will or not.

As you see without a total reorg of the room, a much bigger screen would be tough. So I will probably stay with my current TV and just get immersed in my sound. My only upgrade wound be a 50in though. A friend of mine has a 58in and he sits about as far back as I do and it looks really big. But he has an open room and more space. In my enclosed room, with the lights out, a 50in would look really big.

Man 14 total days sure feels like a long time. I hope it won't be too much longer. I have a lot more ripping to do. Music and movies. I hope Craig has been enjoying the server smile.gif.

This is the longest I have gone without my system. Whether on vacation or it just being down for some reason. It really sucks.

No. I guess I was hoping it would not be this long. I will be patient the rest of this week, then I will try and call someone. I have the service center info it was sent to so I could always call them and find out. Even though I am whining tongue.gif, I will give them the rest of this week. Then I will call.

When I took mine last pre/pro (Integra 80.3) in for repair, it took them one week just to look at it, and two weeks to get the HDMI board replacement part.  I was without my Integra for 3 weeks.  I nearly lost my mind. I hope they don't take as long with you, but since two weeks have already past, as Frank said, a surprise would definitely be nice!!

Well, hopefully this is the final week. As I said, no music, movies and TV through the TV speaker is painful. I know they got it on July 2nd. The sooner the better.

Mike, the way you're supposed to handle this is to go out and buy a new pre-pro FIRST, before sending in your current pre-pro for repair... :-) That way you aren't inconvenienced by not having a system up and running!

Then, when the current pre-pro comes back, you can decide which one sounds better and sell the other one. Easy-Peasey!!! :-)

All kidding aside, I feel your pain... I may have to do the same thing soon on my Onkyo 5508 to replace the HDMI card before the warranty is up.... I'm eyeing up a Marantz AV8801 as a possible replacement...?

I know Dennis. The thing is I was just rolling with the server. I was doing a movie a night. I just finished Bleach. I was putting music on as well. The Marantz does look like a very nice piece of gear. Matt has one and I think Frank has one as well. But I do like your plan and I was really close to following it tongue.gif. Trust me. At least I won't be shopping for a new preamp right now. The 80.2 fits my needs pretty good at this stage.

Well I got to give the service center points for being honest, They said they have no idea when my preamp will be ready. FANTASTIC. The lady on the phone told me that they only get something like 50 boards at a time from Japan and that has to go to all of the service centers. Not to mention that the board is used in all of the .2 series. So who knows how long it will take. I am guessing it won't be any time soon. The service center has my preamp and they are just waiting on the HDMI board. It could be another week or two for all I know. Well, at least when I do get it back it will almost like me having a brand new system again since I have already been down for 17-18 days. Oh well. I just have to hurry up and wait.

Hey Mike,

 

Do you have PC speakers lying around?  When I was in college, I'd use a 3.5mm-to-RCA splitter to get sound from my TV's aux outputs to my $75 altec lansinc computer speakers w/ small subwoofer.  It goes a lonnnnng way to improving standard TV sound.

Matt, I don't. And TBH, my system is one big rats nest of cables. I am not going to go trough the head ache, and trust me it would be one, to connect little computer speakers to my TV until I get the Integra back. I just hang in there until it gets fixed. But you get points for out of the box thinking smile.gif.

I thought of that clip right away because that's how I feel. I mean, being down until Sept is really sucks. Oh well. At least I get to hear how awesome the TV speaker is in my Panasonic TV.

In reality, do nothing can I tongue.gif. I mean, besides buying something to replace it, which I really don't want to do, there is nothing I can do. If they only get a certain number of boards every so often, that's that. No point in getting all worked up. Sure I am losing valuable ripping time but at least I have some done and all of Bleach. While I am currently unable to watch movies, I am doing some thinking. It's a dangerous proposition I know. But I was thinking about how do I backup my HD's. At the time I bought the server I just got 2 4TB drives to go with it. I needed to move a little quicker on this then I would have liked so I could not buy a RAID system for backup. But now I am thinking about it. It took me a long time to do Bleach right and I would hate to have to do all that over again. So I am trying to think what can I do. The easy thing and cheap thing is just to buy more 4TB drives and just copy all the media to them and keep them in the closet unless they are needed. The other solution I guess is a RAID or NAS system? But I admit that I don't know much about them. I think people like Synology NAS RAID but they seem a bit expensive to me. I also found this.

I would get the 12TB model. It says it can be configured in 1, 5 and 10 configurations. I admit that I really don't know what they all mean. Let's say that I have 6TB of media. Does that mean that I would using 6TB of the Raid for the media and then another 6TB for the backup? Or would I somehow be able to fill up all 12TB of that system with unique data and still have it backed up? If somebody in here can give me a quick overview, I would really appreciate it.

I am going to give them another week. I mean, as I said, they don't grow them on trees and I don't think me yelling at them will get to me quicker. Another week will be 1 full month. Hopefully that will be enough time.

Some people probably would have bought another one if it was taking this long and the just sold the 80.2 when they got it back. I don't operate like that. It is what it is and I have to just wait.

Have you considered renting (or do you already have) an inexpensive pre/pro so you could watch movies in the interim? Or did you just go cold turkey?
