A codec doesnt work that way.

Has anyone in the US received their copy from Amazon yet? Mine is not going to arrive today, and I'm kind of in a battle with them. I pre-ordered months ago (and I have been a Prime member for three years), and they waited until last night to ship via USPS. When I complained, the CS rep said that it wasn't eligible for release date delivery. Just wondering if anyone else was hearing this.

Thanks, Steve. Did you get the combo pack or just the single BR version?
If interested, J&R has the combo pack for $19.99.

Don't know about shipping, taxes, etc. though.

They changed the price on the website. Guess they saw what everyone else was charging for the combo pack.

Mine shipped at 4:30p PT on Thursday and I just got the delivery notice. It was shipped from Reno, NV to the Seattle, WA area via Ontario, CA. I used the usual Amazon Prime 2 day shipping and it went via UPS Next Day Air Saver.

Thanks, guys. Did you get the single disc or the combo? Just curious, since I ordered the combo.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. If it were a different title, I wouldn't mind as much - but my daughter is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and we had been planning a viewing party for tonight - which we had to cancel. Plus the CS Rep telling me it was my fault for not knowing that this title wasn't eligible for "Release date delivery" - that really ticked me off.

Prime here also, combo, received today.

I was going to order mine from Amazon, but I went to Best Buy instead and got the exclusive 4th disc (65 minutes of bonus contents). I can't wait to watch this again.
The Best Buy deal is by far the way to go. You get an extra disc, a "fat" 4 disc Bluray case, and a special lenticular slip cover. All for the same price, 22.99, as the combo pack is sold everywhere else.

+1, got the combo pack, $25 flat after taxes

Thx

I was wondering if anyone had the same impression of one of the first scenes of the movie. In the scene at the beginning of the movie, right after the WB logo, when Snape arrives out of the smoke and walks through the gate, I have a hard time determining anything from the picture as it appears very dark to me. I've read a lot of reviews praising the depth/black levels so I was curious if anyone had the same impression of this scene. BTW, I have an ISF professionally calibrated tv so I'm not sure if it's my settings or the disc picture. Thoughts?
That's just the look of the film. It was like that in the theater as well, especially that scene. This Blu Ray does have good black levels to me but that still won't matter when the the original film intentionally drowns out detail by bathing it overwhelming darkness in some scenes. It's really only the fist 30 or so minutes of the film though( prime examples being the Snape arriving scene, arriving at the Burrow after the Seven Potters, and the scene where Ron talks Harry out of leaving.) Any other scenes where there is a lot of darkness/lack of color come off quite well all things considered.

Thanks! What you described about the first 30 minutes was my impression also. Since I read a bunch of glowing reviews which included praise for black levels and detail, I just wanted confirmation that the scene was in fact incredibly dark with hard to discern detail and it wasn't an issue with my brightness setting, etc.

+1000. A few folks while I was at the store yesterday took my advice to get that version.

Not sure what the thinking was on BB's part for selling it as the same price as the combo pack sold everywhere else including themselves but I ain't complaining because I would have paid a few bucks more for the fat extra disc one I purchased!

All that lenticular slip is way cool!

i went to BB and picked up the standard 3 disc version and as i was walking to the register i noticed the holographic cover on the 4 disc one, so i swapped it out and didn't realize it had an extra disc till i got home.. Bonus!! They really should label them better. Other then the fancy jacket i didn't know they were different till i opened it.
