Live in NYC and would like PBS HD? Read this!

Thread Starter
As all of you know, we lost our main PBS HD station (WNET-DT) on 9/11, along with all the others in the WTC. We had another PBS station (WNYE-DT) transmitting from Brooklyn, which also ceased operations shortly after due to circumstances related to the Ground Zero recovery effort. I have received information from a reliable source that the management of WNYE would be more receptive to expediting funding and accelerating the process of getting the new permanent transmitter online this year (instead of by the May 2003 deadline for PBS stations) if they knew that they had an audience waiting for them. I was told that a significant number of e-mails could go a long way towards steering management to that purpose.

I am asking that every HDTV viewer in NYC (and the entire tri-state area, for that matter) write a short e-mail to WNYE, expressing your desire to receive PBS HDTV content, and encouraging them to take the steps necessary to resume WNYE-DT's digital transmissions. Please be polite, we don't want to appear antagonistic. Feel free to offer a future pledge if you so desire, but make sure that they know that you want PBS HD programming, and that you would like to get it from WNYE. The e-mail address is:

wnyemail@wnye.pbs.org

If you live in NYC, please write. If you live in NJ or CT, please write. Heck! Even if you don't live anywhere near NYC, please write (they won't know ;) ). You will be doing HDTV in general a service.

Vic,
Done. It's just too bad their signal has such a limited range. I've never gotten them out in my area.

imws - your link doesn't seem to lead to a particular thread. What are you trying to point to?

You are receiving this message because, at one time or another, you expressed an interest in WNYE's digital television service.

This note is to say thank you for your interest in WNYE-DT. Our low-power experimental service concluded in December, 2001 and we are currently in the
active stages of planning a high-power DTV transmission facility. We will
continue to keep you updated on our progress in the coming weeks. If you wish not to receive further information, you may reply with your request to be removed from this list.

Thank you again for your interest in WNYE-DT..
Shut up and wait i guess. For what its worth wnye was my favorite hd channel when it was on the air. Hope they get back on the air quickly and server up the national pbs hd feed, not the GED series of educational crap.

I received the same email, also. Doesn't say much, but at least they know who is interested in their service.
