Need advice on $800 HT setup!

I'm inexperienced in home theater and have found the onkyo 608 and jamo 426 5 speaker set for 599. Is this a good deal?

thinking about going this route with a 200 dollar sub (prefer 12 inch)
or would an onkyo 9300 for 799 be better with a 12 inch?

I'm also open to experienced suggestions as well...maybe the yamaha 667 with preouts and a sub making due with a few older 6ohm stereo bookshelf speakers for a while until I can afford to upgrade?

That yamaha 700 dollar deal does look very good considering the speakers alone go for 499. only problem is the sub is only an 8 inch. Thank you though for your input, I really appreciate it (and a thanks to bladerunner 6 too).
