Heavy Rain... the movie

Seems like a natural fit; hopefully it comes together nicely:

Warner Bros is serious about bringing the adaptation of the Playstation 3 video game, 'Heavy Rain,' to the big screen. According to Variety, scriptwriter David Milch will begin work on the script as soon as he's finished up writing the first season of the HBO series, 'Luck.'

Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne are attached to the film as producers. Speaking on Milch, Shaye said: "David Milch's incredible ability to transform intense and complex storylines into gripping, popular drama makes him the perfect partner for us to have on 'Heavy Rain.'"

Linky.

Those of you who have the game, no spoilers in your discussion of the movie please!

I haven't played the game, so for anyone who has gone through it, is there anything notable about the game's plot that will make it successful as a movie?

I mean, yeah its got the whole game-to-movie thing going for (or against) it. But even though it was quite novel because it was a choose your own destiny type game that played out like a movie, will it be anything more than a regular detective story (which we've already seen plenty of) when it is made as a movie?

I guess the real question is, is the story enough to make a compelling movie that isn't just another basic detective movie with a couple of plot twists along the way?

Look at it this way... making a movie of this game is not unlike making a movie of a good book. The game has an interesting beginning, middle and end like a novel, so translating it to the screen is not a stretch at all. The story wasn't enjoyable just because it was in a game format.

Personally I thought the story / plot was the heavy hitter in HR, while the gameplay / game part of it failed miserably. I would have been much happier if it was a movie from the start. Git rid of some of the weird Euro vibes, and it could hold up as a blockbuster mystery / thriller.

Why would they make a movie out of an interactive movie?

I have yet to try this game. Waiting for a price drop.
The game is indeed like an interactive movie so making a movie out of it is going to be easy, just mimic the game with real live actors lol.

If it's just that for 90 minutes, I'm sold.
