THX is a quality assurance thing and AC-3 is an audio format. So, they aren't really comparable.

Internally, they're both like the CLD-D704. The differences are (besides the case) that the CLD-99 has a 3D comb filter and the CLD-79 uses the audio section of a CLD-D604.

I sold a Mcintosh MLD7020 to a guy called Rein long ago...

He got the player and everything was 5 stars.

Then he claimed after a couple of days that the player didn't worked, and he sent me a picture of a broken "wheel", the one that takes the pickup assy to read the disc.

I though it was very strange as i paid a fortune to Mcintosh to revise the player and i have proof of it, i've sent them the invoice whitch proves that the unit was renewed (new spindle, new motor, belts and adjustment), and came from Mcintosh factory double boxed and checked.

So it was a strange thing....it's not my fault that he has droped the unit or something...

Then i told him to take the unit to a technician, and the unit was thewre for long and they told him they couldn't do anything, but thy touched the unit inside and parts we're missing.

The reason i know that is because i asked him to send the unit back to me, so i could take it here to Pioneer (as it's a CLD97 clone inside) for repair.

They installed a new pickup, but the broken part was getting hard to get, and they also tought it was very weird. I even called Mcintosh New York, and it's was weird to them either, as the unit was checked 100% before leaving the factory.

The part that was broken took alot of time to the technician in Portugal to find, but with a Mcintosh friend in US they could find it and now it's installed and the unit is leaving to Rein again in the begginning of next week.

NOW TELL ME IF THIS JERK IS RIGHT HERE?!!!! This guy is so crazy and rude.

First of all i don't steal anyone, second he wanted a refund for something i don't know if was him that broke. Besides people that are only curious were touching the unit inside.

I've warned this guy, and he is going to answer for all his words in court. Nobody has the right to talk that way, it's a very serious affirmation.

Like you can all read he promissed to ship the player back that week..... Now we are two weeks later. Nothing happened. He also does not answers any of my emails I sent this week, asking for an update.

PS. Just to set the story straight: I notified him the day it arrived it was broken, not a couple of days later. He had sent it in an unmarked box without any fragile warnings or this side up signs.

EDIT: Just as I post this I get an email that he has shipped the player two days ago, but he has no tracking number yet.... Well to be continued.

Two completely different things. AC-3 (Dolby Digital) is a method for encoding a surround soundtrack onto the laserdisc. A demodulator is needed to decode the soundtrack, as is an AC3 output on the player.

THX is nothing but a standard - a mastering protocol. Think "Good Housekeeping Seal Of Approval" and you'll have a rough idea. Any player will play a THX-mastered disc.

Well another week went by and no player arrived, nor did he supply any tracking number. Shipping does not take 10 days in Europe.... So I guess it's not coming. mad.gif (He also told me he had shipped it in January, but it was still at Pioneer)

I had a question regarding Pioneer's DVL-700. I just acquired one for next to nothing and was wondering why the fifth option in the Set-up menu is "Setup Enter". I selected it and it kicks me back to the idle screen or movie, shouldn't "Setup Enter" mean I enter into another setup menu? Or is is just a weird mistranslation?

I have been listing some discs on Ebay, and this guy bid on several of them and asked again about Robinson Crusoe On Mars, which he had "bought" from me on LDDB.com and never paid for. I listed it as a fixed price item and he had the balls to ask for a discount.

I told him he already had the chance to get a deal on it and never paid so "No" he can;t have a discount and please pay for the stuff he has now bought on Ebay...

I do not believe I will According to Ricardo Tomas it was shipped 16 days ago. Now way it takes that long. he also has not sent proof of shipment or tracking numbers. He is lying like he was in january. Even if the player arrives some day I would rate him as a terrible seller, the worse. Good news is I will be in Portugal later this year so I will look him up....... No way he is gonna get away with it.

You should block him and warn all others about this guy. I'm hearing much more bad stories about him. I wish I had heard them earlier....

I tried to make Portugal an exception on my shipping list, but eBay has a glitch in saving shipping info if you do not select a domestic shipping method, even if you are shipping for free.

But to my amazement, he actually paid for the two Ebay items he bid on. I hope after all this he does not try to return them or some other nonsense!

Som bad stories about a guy who bought a Mcintonsh MLD 7020 from me, and that has blamed me for things i haven't done. Thern i repaired the player with my money and send it back....hummm let me see. What have i done wrong?
I have done everything and i did not steel anything from anyone, if somebody tell me that it's a lie, and that guy is going to European Court, the process is on.
He is going to pay for evry word he told about me that was not truth,

He will look at the player working, fully calibrated with new pickup, motor, belts and everything aligned, and then he will regreet to speak tht way about someone who never told him that would not solve the problem.
And i give my face to anyone and tell the story to anyone.

If you guys knew the story, and i mean the TRUTH, you would not give any reason to this CLOWN!

Mitsubishi M-V7057 (clone of the Pioneer CLD-D704) now available on ebay for $119.50 shipped.

(I have no personal interest in this auction, nor do I know the seller. I have a 704 and think it's a good deal.)

Well Ricardo. Where is my player then. It was shipped 19 days ago according to your info. (It's only a 24 hrs drive from Portugal to the Netherlands) Still it did not arrive, nor have you been able to show me any proof of shipment, or tracking numbers.

You also lied about shipping the player back to me in January, it was still at Pioneer.

One last thing. I did not ruin the player it arrived broken. I notified you just two hours after I received it and just 2 minutes after I hooked it up when I found out it did not work.]. I was not very surprised though, since it was shipped in an unmarked box. No "This side up" of "Fragile " signs on it. I do not think it was broken when you sent it, but no wonder it got harmed during shipment in an unmarked box. For all I know, they might have shipped it upside down, or thrown it about..... And that is the sellers responsibility, so you should have just refunded me my money.... I ordered (and paid for) a 'like new' player, not a 'repaired' unit.

But lets wait and see if this player ever reaches me. Expectations are low, you have not lived up your words yet. Also still waiting for e refund of the shipping costs and all the stories I read about you on the internet do not help either. So if you did sent it, just sent proof of the repair, proof of shipment and tracking numbers, to prove my expectations wrong.... Or better, sent the player itself. Or refund me my money.

He Ricardo.

Put your money where your mouth is and show us proof of shipment...... Day 21 has passed and no player arrived....
Listen to me, for the last time, tomorrow i will go to the post office, and will solve this.
There is an insurance for the player, if you don't get it, you get your money back, that's for sure.
STOP CALLING ME NAMES, AND SPEAKING OF OTHERS LIKE TRASH, BECAUSE AS MORE AS YOU DO IT, AS MORE PROBLEMS YOU WILL HAVE.
YOU HAVE TO ANSWER FOR EVERYTHING YOU'VE BEEN SAYING ABOUT ME!!!!!!!
Your caps lock is on....... We have been here before haven't we? If you have sent the player and cared you would have checked the postoffice two weeks ago and provided tracking numbers upon shipment. Well I guess we are all curious about your next excuse.......
Well Ricardo. How was your day at the post office?

I don't aspect it will. Better no one trade with him until I get my player. The term boycot should be in place.....
Must have been a postal holiday in Portugal today.
I went to the post office, and everything seems to be normal, however i have a friend there who is going to update me today, but you should receive it even today or so.
Sometims things from amazon.uk or amazon.de take up to 4 weeks to reach here, i also don't know why.

I don't have any problems trading with anyone. I sell lots of things, and nothing goes wrong, unless for you.
Well if you look at the forum at LDDB, I'm not the only one having (had) problems with you....

How do you know things seem to be normal. Do you have any tracking numbers that can tell where the player is. Please supply them so I can check. Or is there any proof of shipment you can show to put some value to your words..

3 weeks+ is not normal in my book. Maybe those Amazon things were not in stock.... Besides that, you've been telling me for two weeks now that it should arrive today or so. Same story as in January when I found out the player was still at Pioneer.

PS. Nothing arrived today and tomorrow is saturday, so no deliveries.......

Man, I don't usually like to comment on things like this, but now it is public and false claims have been made. I can only address my own experience with this guy.

Boy, that was tough to swallow. I sold him a disk on LDDB.com and never got paid for it.

01 April - sent original invoice.

06 April - he asked me send the invoice to a different email address.

10 April - "I got the invoice and will send you payment in one or 2 days maximum."

13 April - "I tought my credit card would clear until today and i called my bank, it will clear on the night of 17th to the 18th of April...Please don't worry i won't fail, i only tought it would clear until today."

20 April - "I know i asked you to wait until the 18th, but there was a delay but everything is solved. I only ask you 3 or 4 more days please, i promise i will pay you."

27 April - I sent a last request for payment and he just stopped responding to my emails and never did pay.

Finally, after I cancelled the LDDB transaction and left negative feedback

28 May - "My sincere apologies for the delay, i had my payments delayed, please don't get me wrong."

When i listed the SAME DISC later on Ebay, he had the ovos to ask for a discount on the minimum bid!! He already bid on two other discs before I knew who it was. I felt bad accepting accepting his business before Rein got his deal completed. My rule is not to take money from anybody that owes my friends money or goods first, but the Ebay deal was already done.

The only good thing I can say is he finally paid on 30 June for the two discs he won on 07 Jun. Sounds like he is just full of stories why things did not work out.
