Thanks for the support. I wonder what his friend at the post office is gonna tell him today.....

Question: Why not just check the tracking numbers?
Answer: Mabye because you don't get tracking numbers when you did not ship anything.....

Somebody has a Pioneer Elite DVL-90 for sale locally on Craigslist with remote and original box. It looks to be in good shape. Pluses are I can see it work before I buy it and I never have to ship it!. What do people feel a 90 is worth?

The LD/DVD combi players were mediocre for both formats. I don't typically recommend them.

do you have any experience with PAL players? there are some great Pal releases unable to US market. also some titles are offered in widescreen only in pal. looks like 2950 and 925 are the best players but no match to Us elites.

I have a cld 97 processed tru crystalio II into pioneer elite plasma monitor. I am so used to the low noise soft/analog picture. I hear 925/2950 are similar to 704 sharper but higher noise. is that so?

Boy, that was tough to swallow. I sold him a disk on LDDB.com and never got paid for it.
01 April - sent original invoice.
06 April - he asked me send the invoice to a different email address.
10 April - "I got the invoice and will send you payment in one or 2 days maximum."
13 April - "I tought my credit card would clear until today and i called my bank, it will clear on the night of 17th to the 18th of April...Please don't worry i won't fail, i only tought it would clear until today."
20 April - "I know i asked you to wait until the 18th, but there was a delay but everything is solved. I only ask you 3 or 4 more days please, i promise i will pay you."
27 April - I sent a last request for payment and he just stopped responding to my emails and never did pay.
Finally, after I cancelled the LDDB transaction and left negative feedback
28 May - "My sincere apologies for the delay, i had my payments delayed, please don't get me wrong."
When i listed the SAME DISC later on Ebay, he had the ovos to ask for a discount on the minimum bid!! He already bid on two other discs before I knew who it was. I felt bad accepting accepting his business before Rein got his deal completed. My rule is not to take money from anybody that owes my friends money or goods first, but the Ebay deal was already done.
The only good thing I can say is he finally paid on 30 June for the two discs he won on 07 Jun. Sounds like he is just full of stories why things did not work out.


Looks like he is up to his old tricks again... This is from LDDb site admin so check your ebay account for new impersonations.

Well as you can all read he did not live up to his words to me. It has been like that for over 7 months. So, the guy is defiantly a fraud and a thief. So I guess I lost a lot of money to him. Hope he chokes in it.

I will make sure everybody in the laserdisc society will know, so he is out of (our) business.

Anything to say to that mr. Ricardo Tomas from MV_Cinema Consulting, Santarem, Portugal?

I never bothered with PAL Laserdisc, because the format had only a minimal presence in PAL territories (even smaller than the US presence), and most PAL discs were crummy NTSC-to-PAL conversions.

From what I recall, those two PAL models were supposed to be more comparable to a D604.

Don't want to high jack a conversation or topic , just have a quick question .

Is there any market for a Near New ( I used it 5 times ) Pioneer CDL M90 5 disc changer .

Short of the long story : A friend had a video rental business and used to rent the disc , an I purchased this unit New just before they went bye the way of DVD !.

My Luck Eh , is there a classified section I should be posting this in ?. Thanks don't want to disrupt but didn't know where else to ask .

He just sent me an email that it got lost by the post and he will claim the insurance money and refund me. So maybe his friend at the post office can help him out on this one.

I would be more than happy to get a refund, but saying stuff and doing things have been two different things with him so far. If he had shipped the player, he would have had tracking numbers or so. . And he could have showed them, but he never did. So I do not believe it until the money is in my account.

Is there anywhere where I can buy a brand new (not used) Pioneer laserdisc player.
My model CLD-3090 player died many years ago.
I still have a bunch of movies on laserdisc, with great audio, that I would like to "experience" again.

There are probably still a few new-in-the-box players around out there but you're probably better off with a used higher-end model that's been gone over and vetted by one of the more reputable members, either here or at lddb.

You're unlikely to find a new player that's a decent model. As has been mentioned, your best bet is a refurbished and serviced used model such as the CLD-D704. Kurtis Bahr, who's a member here, should still have some for sale on the east coast. On the west coast you can try Duncan Hunter at Bayview Electronics in Washington State.

I still have a LD-S9 in box, never used. CLD-79 out of box but never used and CLD-97 never used before AC-3 mod and only tested for a few minutes with one disc. So I'm sure there are "new" players out there.

Up until 2008 or so when production stopped, it was easy to find new CLD-R5 and DVL-919 models in Japan. I kinda wish I'd gotten an extra CLD-R5 to keep sealed or at least kept the one I had before I got an X9, but it was a pretty mediocre player.

I am wary of "new, in box" equipment, for the simple reason that it has, essentially been frozen for 20 years; not moving and possibly been allowed to let the belts and gears dry out and crack. I'd be much more interested in gear that's been well maintained, or restored by someone like Kurtis.

I agree with that and its not like you are going to get a warranty with a new player any more. Chances are it will also be cheaper to buy one fixed up by kurtis or duncan than a new in box one.

Is there any market for a Nearly New ( I used it 5 times seriously an I purchased it New ) Pioneer CDL M90 Laser disc player W/ 5 CD disc changer ..

I really hate trashing electronics at the E waste sight which are near new , is there anything this can be used for other than the obvious CD playing function ?

I own NO Laser Disc an as I stated before a friend " used : to own a video store back pre 2K era . PM me if You wish . Thanks in advance for any info .

Pioneer H9??

Does anyone know anything about the Pioneer DVL-H9 player and how it compares to the X9?

I'm looking for a high quality player for an archiving project, and having trouble finding a good unit.

Also, does anyone know if the composite video signal can be tapped internally on an X9 before it gets to the digitisation section of the player? I'd like to run a 'pure' composite video feed from the X9 if possible.

From what I know, one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. The X9 and X0 are MUSE capable. The DVL combo players were, from what I understand, a mid-level DVD and LD player in one unit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
