I don't get BBC America in HD, so I pay for supposedly uncut, HD downloads from iTunes.

For those that did watch the new broadcast, did they keep in the bit about the "Growler". I have to say, I learned something new during that segment. :-)

You mean this part?

I don't remember seeing it. Which only goes to show how much BBC America sucks. They can't even bring over BBC shows that air at 8pm on BBC channels without removing vaguely risque double entendres.

Oh yeah, the growler was in there.

I don't recall seeing it at all. It's not mentioned in GT1s summary either.

Unless it was right at the beginning of the show, because I think my recording started late.

That would be the segment, but why is the youtube video a mirror image? Or have I gone cross eyed? :-)

But, is there a difference of opinion here? MacdonoughDawg says yes, and you are saying no?

It was definitely in my iTunes download. Laughed my tail off.

I really like the forensic exam. It makes me look at cars in a completely different way. Especially when I'm sat in one that I don't own.

I was wondering about the mechanical quality of their £6K choices so a follow-up report is a good idea. They do it in the magazine so it's an overdue addition to the show.

This episode also demonstrated how the budget and experience overshadow the US version. The editing, cinematography and music choices on the Evoque segment were excellent. Switch over to USTG and every scene seems to be accompanied by generic southern guitar rock.

Was it just me or did the Evoque take the same path to Vegas that Top Gear USA used for the truck challenge? Looks like the Evoque got stuck at the same point that Adam's truck broke an axle on.

I thought the same thing. It made me think that maybe Top Gear UK was planning this drive and then Top Gear US tagged along (it could be the other way around too). May as well get two shows out of one set of permits.

I just saw this on Comcast Ondemand in Savannah, and I was crying laughing so hard while they were attempting to tear down the houses. Glad they have these Ondemand so quickly to watch, since we don't have BBC America in HD only in Ondemand form.

Excavator with a hydraulic breaker attachment.

Was it just me or did the abrupt editing in the news segments seem to indicate that the show was edited once again?

I think mirror-imaging clips on YouTube is thought to defeat some automated content detection systems that trawl clips to look for copyright material via sequenc fingerprinting.

Damn, so 6 eps is a 'season' now? And no big hour-long adventure ep this time?

Still love this show, but it's shrinking.

yeah the seasons are split now...They have a summer season and a winter season....Next Season for the UK should start in mid December and go to the end of Jan. Then the Summer Season goes from June-July...I guess tahts why they mentioned multiple times on the last episode they will be back after X-Factor ends ...Not sure what that means for BBCA though, as usually we get the seasons after they have aired on BBC. If I had to guess we will get new episodes starting in Jan\\Feb (if not later).

On a side note however BBCA was advertising the "lost season" as new episodes starting Monday......Usually this means a Season of TGUK that hasnt aired on BBCA as of yet (I believe last year it was Season 5).

Unfortunately no provider in the US broadcasts BBC HD. Dish Network carries BBC America HD. But that's a pale comparison, unless you really like Gordon Ramsey and old reruns of the X-Files and Star Trek in SD.

Sorry if I sound snarky, but every time I think about what BBC-A could be, and what a giant waste of transponder space they've become I get agitated. For every hour of good programming they carry there's 100 hours of reruns and crap. Plus you never know when they'll decide to edit a program to insert ads, or for an innocuous innuendo that can be carried in Britain OTA during daylight hours, but Americans sensitive ears must be protected from at all times.

It looks as though D* is in no hurry whatsoever to add any more non-sports HD channels.

i'm currently watching TOP GEAR 12.02 HD as my comcast (in 94555) provider lists.

i thought there was a diff bug the BBC AMERICA uses to diff from the SD one?

like first line BBC
second like AMERICA

and then HD somewhere in the middle?

cause the episode i'm watching looks like 480p...

I've already seen the India special and while it's a really poor Top Gear special I can tell that it's going to be edited for content. The biggest joke in the show is probably going to be removed or pixelated.
