Apart from the terrible India special and a really boring stunt show promoting the remake of The Sweeney, this season has been pretty good. Less stupid, lots of focus on driving cars and classic cars and mostly good guests.
Thanks for the heads-up, would've missed this on the Tivo since BBCA continues its usual idiotic practice of setting first air date based on when it appeared on BBC UK.
Well, me for one.
They are 'new' episodes on BBC America HD (Time Warner Cable-San Diego). From scanning the posts above, apparently some of you have access to BBC and are able to see them much sooner.
Is there anyone who DIDN'T watch these episodes in January/February?
Well since this BBC America thread I would guess no ;-) hehe. Since thesis a global forum however weave people from all over including ones who would be able to see it on BBC during the original air dates.
I find myself a little ambivalent towards this....
Pluses
The wit.
The reviews.
The Stig thing.
Minuses
Too often silly.
Too often gets away from cars and dabbles into other things.
I like my car shows to be about....well, CARS (interesting cars, not Corollas).
Not planes, helicopters, horses, kites, etc.
Unfortunately, this show is not the only one with this problem...
I agree, but I suspect that what we may consider "minuses" may be keeping other viewers coming back (keeping the ratings up). Probably why this show rates so much higher than 5th Gear and Motorweek which are more clinical.
If I remember correctly everyone hated TG when it first came out because it was so... structured. The reason why it's good now is because whatever they do they make it fun and you can't tell their "agenda". Look at Motorweek (yeah yeah... I watch it cuz it has good info in a short time) and TG USA, are they nearly as entertaining? No...

I am a huge car-guy, and I guess I do go more for the "clinical" aspects of these shows.
DVRs can be awesome....
However, I do appreciate the humor.
In that respect, the BBC TG wins hands down.
I'm bummed that the show will not return to UK screens until next year due to the Olympics, moreso now that Carroll Shelby has died. Shelby would have made a perfect subject for a feature segment this year and I would loved to have seen an original AC Shelby Cobra zooming around the track.
The one-time Texas chicken farmer who became a household name because of his British/American breed of Ford-V8-powered Shelby Cobra sports roadsters, was also the world's longest-living heart-transplant recipient of more than 20 years.
Finally. I don't want to be rude but the America Top Gears is terrible. They tried to imitate the quirkiness of the UK version but it feel completely overdone. It will be best if they just be themselves and do the show with their own vision instead of trying to imitate. You always see 50% downvote on Youtube if the video is either Top Gear US or Australia.
You are not saying anything rude that hasn't been said before here:
