I miss my infinity Crescendo 3006 mids and highs

My Infinity Crescendo speakers bit the dust after more than a decade. They could probably be repaired, but not sure if it is worth it at this point. Does anyone have any ideas for a replacement. They were used as mains for 60 % music 40% HT. I love these for the mids and highs. I guess the EMIT-R tweeter were spacial in the day? Anyway, I have auditioned several of BB's offerings and frankly nothing sounds close. If I like the sound of these, does anyone have any ideas for speakers that would come close in the less than $1500 range? The infinity's were 3 way with 8 in woofer, mid, and emit tweet. Should I go bookshelf or floorstander? I do employ a sub currently. Mainly, I can't seem to find something that sounds as vocally crisp in the mid and highs. Listened to the ML Source. The mids and highs were drowned out by the horrible paper cone woofers. Liked the B&W 683's, but definately not my infinity sound. Am I crazy feeling like no current speaker sound right to me?

If I were you, I would look through CL and eBay. You might get lucky and find another pair. Older Infinities were hard to beat for sound. Renaissance 80s or 90s would be cool as well.

Not crazy at all. Just keep in mind that you've been listening to the same speakers for a long, long time. It's entirely possible that new speakers, even ones that are measurably "better", may sound less than ideal to your now conditioned ears. Not unlike people who don't like the sound of a flat subwoofer response after living with peaks and nulls for years.

Take a look at Focal - the mids and highs are real good.
The Crescendo's were good speakers.

This may be too late but I've been meaning to find a home for our old speakers so I googled this and came up with your post on this forum. Are you all set? I have had a pair (in oak) sitting in my garage since we moved from Boston to the Bay Area.

Tomorrow I'm picking up a set of CS 3009's that I intend to refurbish. Your 3006's might come in handy as rear's.

What can you tell me about them?

I have a pair of the 3009's in near perfect condition with little use (I know, a shame). If anyone is interested, please PM me.

Thanks,
Mike

I have a set of Infinity Crecendo CS 3006 speakers. They look almost like new, and worked perfectly last time I tried them. If you are interested in buying, I will dig out my old amp and make sure they work perfect, I'm sure they do. You can email me at layru2@layru.com if you would like more info and pictures. Thank you, Larry
