WXLV in NC testing

To those in the Piedmont Triad, another station is currently doing some testing, ABC45 on CH29. I began picking up their signal last nite but my 6000 would not lock on. This morning it did and I got the color bars on .1 and a scrambled religious program on .2. Email them to let them know that we are watching.

I'm watching the color bars on 29.1 and video noise on 29.2. Obviously, I live a sad life.

29.1 is HD and 29.2 is SD.

Got an email address for WXLV? I'll ring their bell.

Here's the disappointing response that I received from WXLV when I mentioned I am receiving their digital signal:

Dear Sir,
I'm glad someone is watching our new digital signal. Sorry about the
test pattern, I'll explain.
The color bars are only for testing of our digital encoding equipment's
multi-channel capabilities and relative tests of off air reception. The
bars are actually encoded high definition at a low bit rate. We will
replace bars on 29-1 with standard definition programming and will only
have a single channel of standard def programming available for the near
future. At this time we are transmitting standard def programming on
29-2.

Kind regards,
Gil Couch, Chief-Engineer WXLV/WUPN-DT

I expressed my disappointment at the lack of hi-def.

Gil Couch also responded to my email stated that no Hidef programming was scheduled to aired in the near future but they were "blown away" by the quality of their standard definition signal. He requested my opinion on this and of course he shall have it! Any ways I did kind of expect this from a Sinclair owned station. One good thing though he said that UPN48 would be up and running on CH33 by May 1.
