Also, the picture and audio adjustment menu can only be accessed through the TV input when there is no picture or audio in the backround. Is this possible, or am I simply missing the obvious?
Any help would be appreciated.

There are quite a few scenarios when the access to the menu and other functions is limited to certain inputs but still accessible from the VIA apps. I run into this quite often using a Denon AVR 891 with HDMI pass-thru and it can change based on setup. I contacted Vizio and they acknowledge this to be true but have no remedy. In these cases I either get to the menu via the VIA ribbon OR change inputs, go to the menu, and then on the menu change back to the input I was on to do the adjustments.

Thanks for the advice. The hard reset seemed to help with the lip sync and I accessed the settings menu through VIA which was a revelation. I had avoided VIA because I couldn't get the TV to talk to my MIFI hotspot which we use as our internet router.

A friend of mine just bought this t.v. thru Amazon last week. It looks really good except for vertical banding. Does no one else with this t.v. have that problem? He is thinking about sending it back but is afraid he'll just get another one with the same problem.

You got a defective tv. It happens. Send it back and get another one. If the second one has the same problem, send it back and demand a refund.

Anyone can get to set the closed captions to be set to custom color/size on OTA signals? Mine always seems to be stuck in large black/white.

Also, is there somewhere that has demo 3D materials? I don't have a 3D blu ray, 3D cable source or video game hooked up but want to get whatever little use out of its 3D capability.
Those are the only ways to see 3D, I think.

Yep, have to have a 3D source. No built in demo.
Yeah, lame. I think I found some 3D video where they interlaced the L&R images into one single frame. This way, I can play it on my peecee via rgb and output it at 1080p and hopefully it will work.

Also, it seems that with HDMI input (720x480p, 720x576p or 1280x720p), it will always assume input is a 16x9 source and zoom the image until it fills the whole screen, thus when I go into aspect ratio control, setting it to Wide doesn't do anything except zoom in like 3%. When I have source recorded in anamorphic and I try to stretch it wide, it doesn't work in Wide. Oddly, when I use Stretch mode, it does a 'Wde' plus zoom in something like 3%. When I plug in the same source to component in as 480p (720x480), it seems to scale it to 1440x960 and leave black bars on the perimeter. In this case, I can make my picture 'Wide'...but I guess I can't make it 'Wider'

So, I'm wondering how the overall satisfaction is on this television?

I just came from Costco where I purchased the Panasonic 60" TC60PS34(TCP60S30) Plasma. I'm replacing a Sony KDL46V2500. I got it home thinking I had STOLE this set and now I'm rather disappointed with the picture off of my Blurays? I've poured through the threads to get optimal settings and discovered that this set is towards the very bottom of the barrel...hence the bottom-barrel price! Now I'm wanting to exchange and I'm on the Costco 90day clock. I'd prefer to get this taken care of ASAP though! Also, Costco has the XVT3D650SV on sale right now for $2499, it seems like a decent price?

My costco had the same price, but they had only the display model left with no plan to restock. Got it for $1659. The thing was missing the batteries. This model seems to heading toward end of life and Vizio still doesn't allow the USB to play back video or photos.

OK well that seems like a great price? What do you think about the PQ? I have to say the picture in the store blows everything else away but that may just be how they have the other sets setup and the sources ect..Not sure why this set looks so good in the store but the picture is phenomenal IMHO?

I love this TV. Owned it since Feb and am still 100% happy with it. In fact, I like it more and more as time goes on.

I've had this TV now for about 2 weeks, and love it. I bought it from Amazon, but have since noticed Sam's is sellimg the TV in their online auctions. They seem to be going for under 2 grand.

The reviews on Sams web site rate it high. People who own this TV love it.

Hey, software update!

Just flipped on the tele to Version VIZIO_XP2.7.9.1

New start up logo and a bunch of new widgets. Not sure how many widgets there were before, but looks like there's 120 now.

Vimeo, TWiT, Blockbuster, & Hulu Plus are some notables.

Ok, I'll just have to ask. What's ARC?
I thought widgets are added all the time, since every time I browse widget list, there is always a few more. Maybe on the firmware, there are more pre-installed widgets.

Is the video/photo playback enabled on the new firmware? That is what I am waiting for.

Anyway, here is TPV's review and their recommended setting

I've been watching for Hulu for months and the "latest" widget has been Revision 3 all summer.

There is now "Vizio media" as part of VIA. I haven't tried it out.

Audio Return Channel, they've been promising it in a firmware release. Back home now and will investigate this weekend.

Thanks for the lesson!

I'm eager to hear what you find out.

Wouldn't ARC use up a HDMI port? And if they have that, why not include video in it, so I can record the output from the teevee.

Long time lurker I'm the wrong generation to be very tech savvy. That goes for posting on forums and forum etiquette. I am seriously looking at this TV set to mount on the family room wall. While at the same time I'm considering this I am also doing recon on replacing a very worn out older Dell Dimension 2400 computer.

I have began a thread elsewhere here on AVS where folks are advising me on ways to play my computer library music, pics, and maybe video and send it wirelessly to another room to my new 65 3D Vizio TV. So I know this isn't the place to ask that advice.

What I would like to know is . if I purchase the correct new computer is this 65 3D LED Vizio technically capable to do what I want? Pardon me if this seems to be a stupid question but it only makes sense to ask the folks who own one. They would or should know for certain better than anybody else? It's difficult for me to make any sense out of the spec sheet on the computer and TV as far as it doing what I'd like it to do.

If it's okay to ask here would I need a new tech capable digital A/V receiver in-between the computer and TV to do those specific things wirelessly ? I'm thinking I'd like to have a nice 7.1 surround so will probably need a new A/V receiver anyway. Or is everything I need going to be in the Vizio 65 3D TV and the computer? Sorry if this is out of line on this thread. I tried to insert a link to my other thread but I'm not allowed to post links yet ... I guess.

Costco's website shows this TV as "out of stock". In the fine print it says:

"Due to overwhelming demand, this item is now out of stock. No additional quantities will be available. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for shopping costco.com."

Is Vizio no longer making this TV??

This TV will not wirelessly stream in the way you desire. You'll need extra hardware. Have you thought about AppleTV?

Thanks Oconrecon ... this is what I needed to know. If Apple made a 65" 3D LED TV for $ 2498 I would consider it. Wife and I are taking a trip to Portland tomorrow to scout out Sams Club stores as I wold like to see this baby in person. There showing it in stock for $ 2,498.00. I haven't seen it anywhere else for less. Also need to check out some of the big furniture stores as I'm trying to get some ideas as to new comfy furniture for viewing this new TV. Thanks to all that tried to help me ... it pretty much looks like I'll have to be satisfied with what I get. No big loss ...it will still end up being very nice. Thanks again everyone.

It's not a TV from Apple, it's a $99 streaming box made by Apple, call "AppleTV". If your movies and music are in iTunes, you'll be able to stream over wifi via the deck of card sized box that is Apple TV. Works with Windows and MacOS on whatever computer you'd buy. It may be easiest to go to your nearest Apple store and see it in action.

Good luck!

I realized with the newest version of firmware, if I plug in a flash drive in the USB, it will scan it and display photos or play music on it, but not video. Did the older firmware do that?
