Nope. That is new.

Is Vizio no longer making this TV??

Looks like they have it again.

I'm kinda stoked ... I ordered it on line from Walmart Tuesday the 27th. I have a store delivery date somewhere around Oct. 7th - Oct. 13th. I haven't quiet felt this way since I was a kid at Christmas.

You'll love it. How can you go wrong with over 5 feet of glass viewing goodness?! Don't forget a 3D Blu-Ray player! For kids, Despicable Me. For SciFi, Tron Legacy.

Thanks for the suggestions! I guess I am an official owner ... just because the credit card transaction has went through!

I've only had mine for a few weeks, but love it, and would do it again. I'm having a party this weekend, and will demo some 3d football. So far, everyone that's seen it loves it. But then again, in my circle of friends, I think I'm the first to have a 3d TV.

I have about 20 pairs of glasses, so everyone will be able to enjoy!

Helped yourself to the 3D glasses disposal bin when exiting the theater?
looks like the new firmware could play back 1080p/24. Not sure if the previous firmware was able to, but the reviews said it couldn't.

Yup, I see the Vizio 65" 3DTV is in stock again at Costco. I was just confused by the message on the site when they were temporarily out of stock. Can't wait until I can get this TV in Canada.

I just brought home this TV and I'm really unhappy with the massive reflectivity of the glass - it is very distracting.

I have had a 65" DLP for 5 years, thus no glass to contend with. I have a normal home, so yes there are windows and they all have blinds & drapes on them and I still the reflections from 30 feet away and even my stainless fridge in my kitchen, 20 feet away.

I'm not sure I can keep this set... are all LCDs and/or Plasmas like this?
All plasma has shiny glass and it has much lower brightness, thus it has a harder time overcoming a bright room's ambient light. Most LCDs has plastic screen, but when if it has a matte finish, then the contrast ratio goes down.

My 65" DLP just died and I never had issues with the DLP having reflections of issues washing out with ambient light. I honestly don't consider my room bright (I even have drapes made with light blocking backing) but the light that peeks around the edges reflects like crazy on the LCD screen.

Should i just stick with DLP or will Plasma be better than the LCD?

btw... I sit at eye level with the TV, 10' away

thx

Oh my goodness! I've had this set four four days now. I couldn't be happier. I'm not an audio or videophile ... just an average "Joe". I have the TV in our family room aka sun room. One wall has an eight by six foot glass slider and the east wall has three ... three by four windows all side by side. I have the typical slider verticle vynil blinds on the slider and insulated cell type cordless pull down blinds on the windows. The reflectivity isn't an issue in day time as we pull the blinds as needed. I am more satisfied than I imagined.

The 3D effects from the rented BlueRay 3D video were soooo cool. I suspect as I become more in tune with this set I will enjoy it even more. Having said all that ... now the down side. I attempted to watch the Cal Vs. Oregon game in 3D and found it impossible. All I did was screw my eyes up sideways and gave up immediantly. Back to 2D pronto. I have since learned my Dish TV 722 DVR can not translate the 3D signal. For this I need a 924 (or 9 somthing I have the numbers screwed up). Now Dish TV doesn't lease these units out. However they will sell me my own for $ 649.00 or some odd dollars! They were quick to point out over my groans and gasps that I could sell it if I ever wanted to as it would be mine!

Oh and by the way ... this set is soooo big I felt as if I was at Autzen Stadium watching the game in the rain! And I didn't get caught in the parking lot after game traffic jam! Go Ducks!

Directv boxes handle 3d fine.

If you are really interested in 3D, besides the rented Blu-rays, I'd wait until your subscription with Dish expires and get Directv.

Based on the programming available in 3D, I wouldn't even consider buying a box for $600+ just to get it. Besides, the 9 series Dish boxes are riddled with issues.

I had DirecTV and just switched to Dish! My wife and I are VERY much into trail riding and horse camping. We are members of an organization called ACTHA ( America's Competitive Trail Riding Association) and as such a new trail riding TV program just debuted. America's Favorite Trail Horse. DirecTV didn't and wouldn't carry it. It was important to us .... so the switch. It's all a matter of personal priorities. Besides I now have free HD for life ... and many other perks I never had with DirecTV. I suspect as 3D evolves Dish will catch up with DirecTV or suffer in their subscription base. Meanwhile I'll enjoy immensley what I have.

PS: This is a new computer that is not letting me download the spell checker? My apologies.

Over the past 2 months the panel's turned off on its own 3 times. I'm wondering if this has been reported in the past, or is there some feature to this set I'm not familiar with?? It comes back on with a simple remote click, but since it's still within the costco 90 days window, I'd like feedback from folks more familiar with the technology. Thanks.

I bought one in August. I'm pretty impressed so far!

Anyone have a suggestion on what 3D blu-ray player I should buy?

I bought the VIZIO 3D Blu-Ray player and it looks great, but it's a little (not terribly) slow to load.

It's a great TV. Welcome!

I found these settings posted from a review at hometheater.com...

2D
Picture Mode: Custom
Backlight: 29
Brightness: 52
Contrast: 46
Color: 44
Tint: -8
Sharpness: 2
Color Temperature: Normal
• Gain: Red 119, Green, 128, Blue, 129
• Offset: Red 124, Green, 129, Blue, 122
Advanced Pictured: • Smooth Motion Effect: Off
• Real Cinema Mode: N/A with Smooth Motion Effect Off
• Noise Reduction: Off
• Color Enhancement: Off
• Adaptive Luma: Off
• Film Mode: Auto
• Smart Dimming: On
• Ambient Light Sensor: Off

However, I can't change the backlight setting. Mine's on 85, and I can't get it to go to the setting, it just skips over it. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong??

If anyone has had their's calibrated, I would be grateful if you would post your settings.

Still loving this TV. I have to get about 5 feet from the TV to see the lines in 3d, yet our couch is close to 12 feet away, so no problems with the resolution as far as I'm concerned.
Anyone find the inability for smart dimming in 3D mode a limiting factor? Without smart dimming, the screen looks blotchy in dark scenes. It is almost never a issue in 2D, but with 3D, you are stuck seeing them.

Still loving this TV too. My 12-yr old son has moved the Xbox to this TV in the family room from the basement home theatre (where I have a 108" screen and just spent a few thou on a new Sony projector, professionally installed and calibrated). When I asked him why, he said of the Vizio "this TV is just better".

No help on calibrating or dimming from here though. Sorry.

hello. if i may ask, simply from a picture quality standpoint, which do you prefer the sony pj or the vizio?. i am trying to decide whether to get a pj for my theater room. i may be willing to sacrifice size if the pic quality is that much better on the vizio.

thanks if you can respond.

I have a Sony PJ and I love the PQ. I helped the father in law purchase the Vizio (steered him to it) and I installed/set it up for him. I love the Vizio but if you have a theater room AND can control the lighting in the room go for the projector.

I forgot to mention factors to consider are (in addition to controlling lighting) - do you have small kids that are unruly and might break powered 3D glasses? If so then I suggest the Vizio for the kids room. I wish I had waited 6 months to buy my Sony PJ since their new one is 3D and the price is great. If you have the room go for the big screen. I have a 73" Mitsy DLP for 3D and that's the only thing I now use it for. I use my PJ for everything else and seeing the NFL in 106" is great. If my room was larger I'd have a larger screen but that's the largest I could get for the distance between the screen and theater seats.

Thanks again, i have preteens and they are in the media room a lot, i am leaning towards the pj.

I'm considering mounting my 65" beauty on the wall. I was wondering if any of you have already wall mounted this puppy and if so what wall mount brand and model you used and would you reccomend it for others? I'm thinking of a flat wall mount with enough tilt to access all wiring out/inputs easily.
