The 70 watts is the power that the company claims is going to each of the speakers. Generally, more watts, more volume. However, typically those specs are overblown. My pioneer touts 110 watts x 7 channels, but by my measurement it barely registered 35. You need not worry, though, because your setup is good to go. A 96dB sensitivity means these speakers are easier to drive than many - you won't have to turn up the receiver too much to get solid volume levels. And don't worry about the power rating on the receiver, since almost no one knows how little power they actually use when cranking up the speakers. 35 watts is ear splitting for me.

Hey no problem there bud. Hopefully you didnt pull the trigger on that setup yet, because I would recommend doing some more research on those Pyle speakers first. If you search the Pyle brand on this wonderful forum, you'll find they're not well regarded by members here. Seeing those strange looking specs (what exactly is a super horn??), I myself am a bit skeptical that these are the right choice quality wise. I would steer clear of these if I were you, or at least do some more research on the brand. As for the receiver, it looks like a textbook "white van" aka scam product, even though its up on J&R. 7.2 channel upconversion? 1500 watt peak from 70 watts a channel? No HDMI??? I HIGHLY recommend considering a different receiver.

Oh, well you ears are the ultimate judge. I'm sure that, if you don't like it, you can return it since J&R isn't all that bad of a dealer. Bottom line is, those speakers will work with the receiver, but likely won't sound good (again, this is subjective), and you probably won't be able to do much else with that receiver.

Listen to it and decide for yourself, mot people around here, prefer more "flat" or "common" sounding speakers, others want a"sharper" or an "enhanced" or boosted sound to thier music especially if it is ROCK, or Progressive Trance, I know I do more often than ruler flat.
