ATI TV Wonder HD 750 USB - Record OTA HD Programming?

Thread Starter
In my quest to move closer to cutting the cord, I'm starting to look at my options for receiving and recording OTA TV signals. I'm just looking to get the local content from CBS, NBC, etc. Has anyone used this particular product for that? From what I can tell, it plugs into a USB port and comes with an HD antenna to receive the signal. I do have a Radeon HD 4830 in my box right now, and I stream content over my network to a Boxee Box in the living room. Any feedback on this product and how well it works?

I own and have used the ATI Theater Pro 650 PCI card, but now I use an HDHomeRun. I can't imagine a USB device working too well for HDTV, but that's entirely a guess. I love my HDHR.

USB tuners work just fine.

Just make sure you don't use -

The included drivers, use the latest drivers from AMD only

Don't use the included Arcsoft Total Media whatever, just use Windows Media Center it will setp up easily, quickly and right out of the box; Provided you took the first piece of advice.

Don't use the included antenna, its junk. If you were in an open area (Kitchen Table) and used it on your laptop, it will be okay, but mired behind several objects and no where near a window, forget it.

Make sure your OTA antenna is in good condition and that your wiring is in good condition. Some people return perfectly good antennas when their cable is trashed.

The HomeRun-HD is interesting if you need a Network Tuner, but most of us don't, save your money, its $39 after $20 Rebate, not sure how long its going to last so I suggest you jump on it when you can.
