after a long listen session in pure analog listen with another preamp stereo and the same amplifier I can say that the heat problem is not the rack, the denon had the fault so I will exchange the position with my xbox in the rack.
thanks for your answer.

I have another question for you guys, someone are using this player like CD player(using its dedicated stereo output) and the hdmi bitstream for movies? if it is so, the dedicated stereo output is better that multichannel analog output for this job? I'm asking that because with the dedicated output i'm using 4 dacs for channel or I'm wrong?.
Be sure to go into" Audio Processing" in the setup menu and down to the stereo signal and set it to Front left/right and that will give you the 4 dacs per channel stereo, and use the dedicated stereo outs on the back of the player and not FR/FL on the 7.1 outs!

Happy listening!

Yes I did, additional I set the distance of my seat to the fronts. it's ok?

Those settings will only affect the multi-channel analog outputs, so it doesn't matter what they are set to.

Question:

If I select Dolby Digital HD on a blu ray disc on the Oppo BDP-95 and then select DD Pro Logic IIX on my processor to have 7 channels. Will it down-convert it to lower resolution?
Before the end of August, I will be ordering the 95 to replace the 83 I bought when they were first released. I am looking forward to going "backward" to analog. I have read virtually every post in this thread (I will finish all of them this week or next) and I expect to be delighted with the performance of this unit.

I will run the dedicated stereo outputs from the 95 to pure direct on my Pioneer Elite SC-37 and the analog M/C to the ext in inputs on the AVR. I will also be purchasing some HD Tracks music to playback through the USB ports. Bought the Beatles USB for myself at Father's Day. I can hardly wait to experience the DACs.

My front speakers are Klipsch RF-7s --- a few years back they were top of the line. Surround backs are also Klipsch, as are the dual subs and Center channel speaker.

I hope this combination will give me the improvement I am seeking. I have had few complaints with M/C audio through the 83, but CD playback, and many stereo SACDs have left me less than thrilled -- OK, but nothing special. If I hear a real upgrade, the $1000 price will be a bargain! BR video through HDMI to my Kuro FD101, audio through ext in.

Funny, but one of my earlier systems sent video by component cables and the audio via ext in analog. I am sure many on this thread started that way, too. When I got my first HDMI set up, I thought it was a huge improvement, at least in convenience and in fewer cables!

As I said, I am moving forward by going backward!

My thanks to all the posters on this thread for their expertise!

Mike

Hmmm...this begs the question:
If I use the stereo out for the mains which are used for 2 channel listening as well as multi channel ie. blu-ray movies...then what is the correlation of the time domain with the center and L/R rears output through the mulit-channel outputs to the stereo outputs?

That depends on the operation of your AVR, they can be different. Variables are the sample rate of the source material, and some AVRs might limit you to using PLIIx only on lossy codecs. As a general rule it's not an issue, but you should consult the appropriate thread for your processor to confirm. The Oppo will send lossless audio in any case.

And if that happens, and I think I can't live without it, I can always sell the 95 and trade up.

I can think of two reasons why it might be unlikely that OPPO will release a new model anytime in the next 12 to 18 Months.

The new model won't be allowed to have Component Video Out.

The new model must support Cinavia.

Oh, just thought of a third reason.

There is nothing in the realm of shiny discs that the current model does not support. There is no 4K disc standard at this point and up scaling to 4K would be handled by the display device.

Remember the 93 and 95 are disc players. Streaming is secondary.

I called Oppo.

They confirmed that they'll announce a new product in 2012.

Yep....sounds like it.

Now we can speculate for any improvements.

Can't think of any. lol anybody else?

Since Oppo has already been announced as a partner, you can expect support for this to be on the next player: http://www.roku.com/streamingstick

For one, you can have audio and video inputs. As the Roku Press Release has shown OPPO will support MHL at some point. Of particular interest would be the player's ability to do the D/A Conversion of HDM audio and re-process HDMI video.

We have a thread for this: What features would you like in your next Oppo BR player and discussion on when it may be released.

I hope they'll release an audio processor or an AP/BD player combo.

Does Oppo has any plan on supporting Netflix 5.1 DD+ via future FW updates?

Unfortunately not likely. Last I heard Netflix was weary of adding it to the player due to a hack that occurred on an Android device last year. They are weary of software encryption (which the BDP-9x uses) only solutions.

My apple tv already does this nicely. If the only thing a next gen Oppo can offer is increased streaming, I will happily stay with the 95 (when i get one). Especially since most of the bugs are already fixed.

Hi
I;ve had the Oppo for over a year now and love it.
I found something new to me today and thought I'd pass it along.
I like to listen to new music before I buy it, so I've been useing Spotify and Mog
and found some software (Jamcast) that lets me listen
to them through the Oppo. Jamcast even works on my old vista laptop and at $5/month for Mog and $30/ onetime for software
makes a pretty good server.
On the subject of new features
I think everthing should be on your PC and the Oppo remain as clean as possible----things move too fast.
I do enjoy this forum.
Thanks to all.
Bill

I really wish the Oppo had ventilation holes on the top panel - then the fan would probably never need to come on.

Not in the BDP-95. The analog board fills the top of the case, no air circulation. If it was possible to cool the case without a fan, they would have.

Any idea when the beta firmware will be released as official firmware in the U.S.?
