I can't wait... I LOVED Demon's Souls. I almost have the platinum on the Asian version. I still need to stop being lazy and finish it .
Can't wait. It's a winning formula.
All I need to know is the date of the release... That is a title I would stand in a line for.
I'll love to hate it..just as I did demons souls...but couldnt put it down!

Can't wait! Loved Demon's Souls

Read that they want to make "Souls" into a serie... hope there will be more awesome games It's logical with the new title name
post #7 of 1246
So there's one giant world map with no markers, then the game drops you into that and says "Have at it". Sounds like a winner! No one's done an exploration game like that, just turn the player loose with minimal hand holding. I hope they pull it off well.

Sounds like solid improvements. Not many games are day 1 purchases for me, but this will be.

Day one purchase for me!

I loved Demon's Souls. Great to see the next game continues with the tradition.

They ditched Atlus and went with Namco Bandai Games for world wide publishing this time.

Also, eye candy:

^Seriously. This one game would have been enough, but there are so many more. It's ridiculous.

Other players will be able to inhabit that world in some way, in both cooperative and competitive play. According to Siliconera, you'll be able to feel the "gentle presence" of other players through interactions like notes left for other players at the place of death.

The more the same the better in my book.

*drool*

Which pic are you guys the most intrigued by? That pic of them walking through a forest (with what appears to be some co-op players) gives me goose bumps.

Also like the Boletaria-looking caps.

Yeah. But I'm lazy to paste each image to name it. Also, all translations and spellings are my own and could differ significantly from whatever turns out to be the official translations.

The huge spiral city is Anole Rondo. The white ruins with a bridge leading to it is the Snow Ruins. The gravestone is the Tomb of the Sacred Blade. The monster with eggs on it is just listed as the Egg Carrier, and the undead knight is.... an Undead Knight. Lol. There are two other locations mentioned by people who actually have the issue of Famitsu, but I don't know which art pieces the names refer to and I don't want to guess: there's the Temple of the Undead, and the Demon's Altar.

As far as the storyline goes, I have a feeling that the game is going to be about an eternal eclipse of some sort. Not only is there an eclipse in the Dark Souls logo itself, but both the English and Japanese story taglines seem to indicate as such.

"In time, fire will fade... and only Dark will remain." In the Japanese preview, the storyline talks about how "But soon the fire will fade away, and only darkness will remain. Even now, the fire is fading, it no longer reaches the world of man, and the long night continues. Within each person, the mark of a dark curse is beginning to appear..."

It definitely sounds like the "fire" they speak of is the sun, and that something is going to block the light of the sun from the world, plunging it into darkness and giving rise to a dark curse across the land ala Demon's Souls. To add to that theory is the design of one of the NPC knights shown in the screenshots. He has the mark of the sun as his crest. Defintely an ongoing theme in the game imo.

As long as this game has voice chat, it will be on the top of my list.
I enjoyed not having voice chat. It is great when you are playing with friends, but being able to hear other people speak ruins most games for me. Not having chat in Demon's Souls added to the dark and sullen atmosphere.
This will be a game you better pre order. I cant wait. I also hope it has voice chat for friends...mute everyone else

Trailer is up on Youtube!

Definitely a similar vibe here. Fans will eat it up.

O rly? You would miss out on the best RPG ever's sequel because of a lack of voice chat? I think not.

I agree and I mentioned this a few times on nomclan.com when toad, bd and others discussed it. Not having voice chat is a pain in the butt at times, but it also added to the experience. It also made the gameplay more memorable as I'll never forget the countless times I frantically hit the "PS" button to warn a co-op player not to go that way only to see him fall to his death before I could type it out in chat.

I hope it has voice chat, but I will relish the experience if it does not.

Edit: I also love the fact that From Software wants this to be harder. It makes me giddy. People who weren't fans of the first one want this one to be easier so it is more accessible--and the fact that it's coming to the 360 would open the door for this--so I'm glad they're basically saying "suck it, go buy another game then" to those people

This was by far the hardest game I have ever played...and finished, it's just that good.

I'd like a compromise. No VC for the first game, but VC enables for NG+ games.

I agree that the lack of VC really added to the atmosphere, but once your through it once, the ability would be handy.

I can't wait! Pre-order for sure. I still haven't beaten the False King in DS but I'm getting closer...
