Even if you have trouble finding help, you can summon NPC Solaire for this battle (up the staircase near the archer knight.

I found him about useless for this fight. He didn't help me too much. Got much better help from the other players I summoned

He's was a god send (yuk yuk) on NG+ when I was playing offline. Having him get the attention of one of the guys and forcing it's agro on him was essential to me being able to beat the other guy down without having to deal with two people attacking me at once.

He doesn't do much damage, but it wasn't the point in this instance.

I agree. I basically use him as a sponge and let him soak up damage while I attack the other guy or while I'm healing up. There's nothing worse in DS games than trying to heal while multiple enemies are aggro'd up on you.

Laurel and Hardy made me want to throw my controller through the TV screen.

Yeah I'm planning on summoning as many players as I can find soul signs. I think you can summon 3....I had 2 phantoms ready to help at Sens fortress when I got invaded...needless to say that guy was shocked when he ran in the room and saw 3 of us there it was a quick death for him.

Did you say his summon sign will be up the long spiral staircase leading outside to the rooftop where the archer is? I'm sure I'll be able to find it. I have been farming those Knights as well as the big guys, got several titanite chunks and lots of souls from them

The best place to summon people is by the last bonfire before Smough and Ornstein. I have always seen numerous summon signs there, especially at soul levels less than 125ish. Solaire is good as a distraction, but I've never found much need to use him since real players are far more helpful. Solaire's sign is located near the archer just before the boss fog in the room with the giants, not near the outside archers.

I bought this when it launched even though I had a newborn in the house. Needless to say I've not touched it except to open the can it came in. Things have settled down in the house and now I can take a stab at this. Are there any resources that are helpful to newbs? I loved Demon Souls by the way. I'm more interested in character builds and I'm not a completionist if that helps.

Not the spiral staircase. When you get to the O&S boss fog, there are two huge knights as you descend down the staircase. Across the way there is another staircase with an archer near the top. Solaire's soul sign is halfway up that staircase to the archer.

summoned 2 phantoms for help last night on the boss fight, they were good ones ( I wish there was a way to rate them like in demons souls) The fight only lasted about 2 mins, they pretty much drew all the agro, I blasted the little one with Great chaos fireball, 4 direct hits and he was dead.

Glad thats over....now onto the next challenge

I kinda miss this game. I played it so much with a single character, that I hate the thought of starting a new one. Perhaps I should though. Sounds like people are still having a great time with it.

Simple solution! There's a item box dupe glitch.

You can effectively take your old characters spent inventory, and start a new character at SL 1. So you can have fun with your old gear, while also crafting new stuff and build him out different.

^Try out the bottomless box glitch. It's cheating if you grief people, but it's fair if you stay offline for a bit until your character catches up with the weapons you have access to. Saves a lot of time.

Edit: What Tyant said.

The forest where rank doesn't matter wouldn't be considered griefing for pVp would it?

I need 4 demon titanite to fully upgrade my quelog fury sword to plus 5, looking at the wiki the only place left is the last titanite demon that respawns. I did get one from snugly with dung pie but it also says she'll take a prisism stone for demont tianite but it didnt work for me..
That titanite demon was tough to kill for me. I didn't need the demon titanite so I didn't even bother.

As I recall, you can kill that titanite demon with arrows without too much risk. You can stay locked on. Then you can fire and wait for him to cast his sorcery and move to the other side of the bridge or whatever it is. Rinse and repeat.

Once I had crystal soul spear and homing crystal soulmass, killing it was trivial.

while playing thios weekend in the dukes archives I kept getting this message across the screen saying something about "gravelord nito or something" any clue what that was about.....

also really enjoying the poison arrows, 2 shots and run on to something else.

My first run through will be coming to an end soon!

Another question, I dont see Valley of the Drakes on the wiki as in what order to go through it. Or what if anythjing is there to get, or a boss to defeat?
It's only a shortcut to other areas, best being blighttown. There's a mini-boss down there for souls and astrias straight sword that comes in handy first play through of catacombs. Also, witch Beatrice's armor if you've summoned each time you could have. The Drakes also drop dragon scales if I'm not mistaken.

Heads up for kiln, farm the knights for chunks and black knight weapons if you going for the plat. They're the only ones that drop chunks 100% (2 reg, 1 red, white and blue). Once you beat the last boss you're forced into the NG+.
Question:

I am about to finally find the blacksmith in the catacombs, I have the large chaos ember, if I give it to him can he upgrade my quelegs fury sword to a chaos weapon?
^That's a unique weapon that can only be upgraded with Demon Titanite and I think you upgrade it with the blacksmith in Anor Londo, though I don't remember if other blacksmiths can upgrade as well.

The blacksmith in the Catacombs upgrades non-boss or unique weapons and will need the large flame ember to make +10 fire weapons and chaos ember to upgrade +5 fire weapons into chaos.
HMMM ok....I already have my boss sword upgraded to +5 I have the chaos ember for him but I gave the large flame ember to the giant in anor londo...so basically this blacksmith in the catacombs is going to do nothing for me...
If you kill him he gives you a fun horned hat.

Each blacksmith only takes the embers that belong to them. The blacksmith in the Catacombs is the only one that will accept the large flame ember and chaos ember. The Anor Londo blacksmith only takes the crystal ember.
yeah, finally got to him last night and you are correct I gave him both embers, but with having the quelogs fury sword with fire damage I dont really need another fire weapon...

Pinwheel was a joke..geese I think I hit him 3 times? I couldnt believe it was over that quick

I dont want to risk losing my sl 100 char with almost 80 hrs invested
