VERY useful.

Now I'm kinda stuck, I'm SL 27 or so. Don't really know where to go. Killed the gargoyle boss and I'm into the forest but I'M getting kicked, Valley of Drakes maybe?

I went there first, too. But that's not the way you are supposed to go.

You should have gotten the Basement Key from the steps of the church in front of the big gate you can open. Use that key at the beginning of the bridge with the red dragon on a locked door. You will now be in the lower levels of the Undead Burg. It's not obvious at all that you should go here, but what can you do?

@ level 42 and I still feel like a noob, you wanna see some hardcore mother foes, join the cat clan and get summoned by her ring, man I get my azz kicked in like 2 shots by all these dudes with end game armor and magic!

having a ton of fun though, just cleared the catacombs, by far most difficult place yet, boss was a joke though, then proceeded to lose 10k souls in the cheap ass 'so dark you can't see anything' tomb of giants, fell down a pit twice... /sigh

I've been summoned a couple of times and summoned back.

I got invaded by a NPC Dark Knight, owned him and got 5400 souls with a spiked shield. Then got invaded by a player but since me and my summon were entering the fog, he got kicked

Didn't want to loose my souls at the boss, I was carrying 12k souls.... so 3 levels worth

Still haven't found nice items tho

Have you found the shield that increases your stamina regeneration? Or if you're a faith build, there's a cool sword in the VoD*. You're not "supposed" to go these places yet, but it doesn't hurt to make suicide runs to items .

*VoD=

just plinked him from not too far away with about 100 arrows and he was dead, easiest boss ever he didn't do anything, but I came up from the bottom (drake area) and killed him so maybe he's harder if you come from the top

also that farming technique is pretty damn cheezy, I can't even do it now that im in the cat clan

Nope, haven't seen this shield yet, I'm still fighting with the Knight Shield or the Grass thing shield....

Any one done the first black knight in the Burg at low level? I tried him three times and he demolished me. I know have the Dragon sword, but not sure if it is enough. Can you lure him to where the first boss fight is and do the same drop attack or will he climb the ladder?

I was managing something like 1200 souls per 2.5 minutes (give or take).

With the Drake Sword, you can easily take down the black Knight, no need to lure him out.

don't go through the fog in the lower levels....

The Grass Cress Shield? That's the one I'm talking about. I've been using it as my main shield for a while, except when I need to use the Spider Shield to block poison.

I managed to slay that abomination in the Depths finally (definitely one of the most interesting enemy designs I've seen in any game). I was cursed the first 10 attempts, so I finally made my way back and farmed souls until I could buy the purging stone. I figured since I was already that far back in the area that I would get the Drake Sword (was trying to hold off as it has the potential to make the game too easy), so that boss would definitely go down. Anyways, summoned a player and the NPC and killed the boss. However, the NPC died, and I am afraid there will be repercussions from that. Now I'm off to the framerate-killing area.
With no central hub there is no easy way back to the first area with the NPCs? Do you really have to fight your way all the way there just to buy something from them?
for some reason I can't get this song out of my head while i'm playin this, great tune

"hurt me soul"

also, finally found that stupid bonfire in blighttown... man that place sucks, totally reminds me of 5-2 from Demons souls

You can still do this as a Forest Servant. All you have to do is go up and hit one of the protectors. The only problem is, they'll always be angry at you.

I'm going to rejoin after I finish my Chaos Servant tasks.

I did him at lvl 8. I ran back up and to a roof close to the bonfire, and just drop attacked him, a bunch of times. He did not climb the ladder for after me

I'll try that, he just keeps raping me. I can't get room to fight and roll. There is a short ladder up around the corner from him near the archer tower, did you use that one?

Yes, BK will not climb that ladder.

For trophy whores like me, this game is going to be a beast. Besides meeting the requirements to level up three of the covenants so you have access to certain spells, etc., the rare weapons list is ridiculous:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Spoiler

Dragon Greatsword:
Cut the tail off of the Ancient Dragon at the end of Ash Lake. Supposedly, you can cut off the tail, and still enter a covenant with the dragon, but I haven't tried yet.

Black knight Greatsword:
Random drop from any Sword Weilding Black Knight in the game. These enemies don't respwan, so make sure your item drop rate is high. Try equipping the Gold serpant ring before fighting them and pray.

This weapon can be found on a corpse in the Painted World of Ariamis.

Make a +10 axe and use the core of the Iron Golem to ascend this weapon.

Black Knight Greataxe:
Dropped by axe weilding black knights. There are only 2 of these guys in the game. One in the catacombs and the other is in the very last area of the game. Good luck getting it.

Dragonking Greataxe:
The Depths. Cut off the Gaping Dragons tail to get this weapon. He is the boss of The Depths and the means of getting the key to Blighttown.

Combined the farming method in the area, and buying 99 firebombs from the merchant and the ladder and he's easy. Also helps elsewhere, as it's almost like having soul arrow early on in DS.

Be sure to be unhollowed and have 1-2 humanity in upper left, as you get much better drops from killing him.

I was wondering what advantage there was to being human. I have a "4" i the upper left, I used two items to get two, the boss was one, but the fourth?

What is the firebomb thing, just farm and buy a bunch? How much are they?

They do about 120-200 damage per enemy depending on vulnerability of the enemy. Not sure, but I think you can buy the 99 for 4-5K souls.

My weapons suck, and I haven't upgraded anything yet at SL26 or so, so been heavily relying on them. Just about everything in Undead Burg/Parish/ the castle are is pretty vulnerable to fire it seems.

Yup, besides the ability to summon or PvP, the only other advantage to being human/unhollow appears to be item drop luck.

Cool. I used a few on my first black knight fight and they did about 70, but he is not normal. If I can kill the black knight tonight, I'll keep going backwards towards the vendor and buy some, I should have 2k+ by then.

Just thought I would mention this for those confused...hopefully I'm not, but to pay attention to the color of the upper left corner circle with numbers:

white = human form/unhollow

grey = hollow form

Hmm, I thought the bright purple skin was the biggest clue that I was hollowed...LOL. (Yes, I realize many people have armor that covers all their skin...)

No luck from the DK drops so far

I've been farming the Depths all day trying to farm shard (large trinite and green) from slimes and humanity from Rats. Was in human form with 3 to 8 humanity (raised after killing the boss when summoned), hoping to get invaded

Was summoned around 5 times, killing the boss each time and very often, NPC DK for 5300 souls. So each summon would net me around 20k souls

I used the cheese farm method in the forest but only to upgrade my weapon/armor, haven't raised any level with it.

Addictive game, I'm already at 17 hours played ... 3 days weekend with my GF working is the reason

Rang the first bell...not sure where to go now. Tried going back to the asylum, they are too thick for me though.
I "ate" the fire keeper soul before I realized I needed GIVE it to someone to upgrade the Eustus Flask. Are there any more in the game I can find or should I restart? I am about 6 hours in...Level 17 or so...and cannot seem to find out where to go from here (Forest Basin seems too hard, Dark Water place down from firelink way too hard, kinda lost)
sen's fortress is insane with the traps, a frickin treasure chest ate my head off! (which later it dropped a lightning spear for me after quite the battle with said treasure chest)
