Already did it. I haven't been this excited for a game since...I've never been this excited for a game. Cannot wait.

This is the best pre-order bonus I've ever seen. In fact, it's the first time I've ever cared about a pre-order bonus, and it's the first time in a very long time that I'll even bother with a pre-order. Well done, Namco-Bandai.

Sounds good to me. It's a blind buy.

I do have to say though, it's looking very similar to DS (not a bad thing). I noticed some recycled sounds in the new video, but they're probably place holders.

I'm also just hoping it offers 2X the locations and gameplay, as DS was rather short once you finally got the hang of it. Randomly spawning enemies locations would also spice it up a bit more. Add in some better netcode, and we're talking GOTY again.

I can walk into Gamestop tomorrow and pre-order the collector's edition?

Yes. And get ready, Brandon. We'll be booting up Soul Glo in no time!

Okay, well...I pre-ordered at Gamestop and asked about a pre-order special for the Collector's Edition at the same price. He said something like "actually it's a Gamestop exclusive that if you pre-order it, it reserves the Collector's Edition. It's different from other stores."

Okay, whatever we are calling it, I just wanted the CE. Nothing on the receipt signifies it being a special edition, but we'll see how it shakes out in October.

I wish the reviews would hurry up and come out. I have the pre-order up for the PS3 version AND the Xbox360 version. It would be nice to know if there are any real differences, especially given that the PS3 was the original platform.
For anyone interested, and don't mind spoilers, IGN will have a 24-hour live stream of Dark Souls on Thursday (9/29/11).

Just go with the one most of your friends will have.

I wouldn't go near the 360 version, all the kids will be cheating with party chat. The PS3 player base will probably be bigger and more experienced.

I'm wondering how it will fair on the 360. This isn't exactly the type of game that system caters to. I'm also hoping FromSoftware didn't noob-ify it in the name of mass appeal.

Everything seems right from the video's, but I guess we'll see on Oct 4th.

If this developer would actually make a game that was a real roll player and didn't punish you so harshly and let people save the game, etc. etc. they would have a blockbuster on their hands to rival Oblivion/Skyrim. The original Demon Souls is the best looking roll player I have ever seen, but it suffered from not being able to save and the joy they got in making it overly hard for no reason. Shame, they have a lot of talent.

The first Demon's Souls was only popular because it stayed true to its vision. Without the challenge (and the ensuing sense of accomplishment), it would have been utterly forgettable. I'm also not sure what you mean by a "real role player." Demon's Souls is modeled after the old table top games and '80s era PC RPGs. I don't know how much more "real" you want or expect it to be.

My main complaint is that at a certain point it falls prey to the typical faults of most JRPGs: incessant grinding. Once I got 30 hours or so in, I lost interest once I realized that I'd need to grind for specific weapons/armor. I wish it just let you focus on the combat and exploration, and less on the Monster Hunter-style grinding for items.

The game being overly hard was the whole point. Learn or die, basically. Demon's Souls had combat good enough to sustain that.

I can set Dragon Age to easy mode and wail through it and it's pretty much the same game because DA's combat isn't that interesting. The only difference is less deaths. Demon's Souls makes that difficulty fun.

An easy mode Demon's Souls where you could button mash through would have been forgotten within weeks. In fact, it probably wouldn't have come to the US at all. The game got popular after old farts like me imported from Asia because it was difficult and demanding.

Well, I just pre-ordered this from Amazon. I loved Demon's Souls and I hope I can survive this one without trashing any controllers!

um first its "role" not roll, and second, demons souls was CONSTANTLY saving as you played, so I don't know what exactly you are talking about

DS saved every screw up and bad decision you made. I think he means he wanted a rewind feature that's so ever present in all of today's games.

Which then allows you to beat something in 4 hours, and complain about how easy and short it was.
Totally understand that the original was all about learn or die, they wanted it to be hard, etc. etc. Completely understand. I finished Demon Souls, twice, and started a third time. One of the best looking games ever made.

However, even though demon souls was saving all the time, it was overwritting the same save. I am referring to being able to save your progress in different slots so you can re-load and try something different. I would rather learn by reloading and keeping everything I have, then getting severly punished because I died a cheap death, over and over.

While Demon Souls was a role player, it was not a true role player with complete character customization such as standard role players.

It is not fair to compare Demon Sould to Dragon Age as Demon Souls blows it away and there is no comparison. Dragon age is a dumbed down version of a linear role player. Great game, but in its own category.

I am talking about these developers making a game with Demon Souls engine/graphics, where you can freely explore towns (ala Oblivion), take on side quests, go looting, level up, buy/sell, explore the world. Without fear of dying and loosing half of your health, mana, etc. and having to beat what killed you before you can go on. A true open world role player you can explore. Having this incredible graphics engine in an open world role player like Oblivion would of been the bomb and I think it would of been a juggernaut in the role playing community.
