Help/Advice Needed

Hello. I'm hoping you guys can give some much needed advice. I apologize for being a wireless novice, but I just cannot seem to find a similar setup to mine documented anywhere online (even though it seems like a fairly common setup to me).

Here is what I have...

My cable modem and wireless router are on one side of my house. This PC is also on that side and is WIRED to the wireless router. On the other side of the house is my A/V center which has all internet-capable devices, but NONE have built-in WiFi capabilities. There are 5 devices that I want to connect (Xbox, TV, Blu-Ray player, D*TV box, & Receiver). NOTE: I can live without the receiver being connected, but the other 4 devices are a must.

What is the best/proper way to get all of these devices connected to my wireless network, keeping in mind that the 5 devices are WIRED? Do I just buy a 2nd wireless router and connect the 2 routers wirelessly?

Thank you

Just get a wired switch take the wire from the router to your PC and plug it into the switch then run new wires to you PC and all the other pieces of equipment from the switch. You will need a 8 port switch, 1 in and 6 out.

BigT--

He says the internet box is on the other side of the house, I don't think he's looking to run any hard lines.

For the OP, what you want is a second wireless router and set it up as a wireless bridge. Just make sure it has enough ports for all your devices.

Thank you, Irish. Yes, you had it right, I do not want to run any wires. Unfortunately, my house was built in the mid-60's, and they used plaster in here instead of drywall. So running cables is not quite so easy...even just across a single room.

So using the 2nd router in "bridge" mode is the key then, correct?

That is obviously the easiest & cheapest solution, but just out of curiosity, could I also by a single little wireless bridge (w/ 1 port) and connect a multi-pot (4, 8, 16, etc) switch to it. Then just connect the wired devices to the switch?

Sorry misread. I thought the PC was near the other equipment. You are right Irishdoom that is the way to get wireless to work. Personally I would run a wire and use a switch if possible.
