Pre-order for me. Equal to the first film. Much better than the last.

I wish they would give us a 3D release. But since it's Fox, it would probably just be a Panasonic exclusive, anyway.

Glad they aren't wasting their effort. This was filmed in 2D anyway so anyone wanting a lame upconversion can go ahead and use PowerDVD 10.

The weakest of the series by far.

The sad thing about this release is that we won't be getting a $10 coupon for it since it's not a Disney release.

Definite buy for me, Looking forward in completing the trilogy

I don't even remember this playing at the theater.

Must not have been marketed very well.

I'm surprised it was marketed very well over here ( Australia )

You know there are 7 books. And prequels, interstitial stories etc. aside, there is at least one more that could be a direct sequel (The Silver Chair).

Excellent thanks for the info. Never followed the books but if they release another one it would be great.

We quite liked the movie. It felt the most like the tone of the books, even though it differed a lot from the original story.

The 3D was worthless, IMHO. It will not be missed.

This is a pre-order for us as well.

The Silver Chair is actually listed on IMDB as coming out this year.

It was marketed fairly well, but it was right in the middle of the holiday movie season. Its merchandising wasn't nearly as heavy as Tron or Little Fockers.

Disney dropped the franchise, because it "cost too much". Prince Caspian cost about $225m, and made a little over $400m worldwide. However, Fox only spent $155m on Dawn Treader, and has made about $375m so far. As the other posters said, they've already greenlighted the next film, "The Silver Chair", mainly because of the worldwide box office receipts.

FWIW, I saw Dawn Treader in the theater and liked it quite a bit.

Good news. I really hope The Magician's Nephew gets made. I'd love to see a full length feature of that. May be my favorite of the books.

A 3-D version will be made available later. Don't be surprised to see it show up on PPV prior to a 3-D BD release. The conversion wasn't that bad really. Still, they shouldn't have done it. If they want 3-D, then shoot that way. Maybe they will for the next one, since all of Hollywood seems to have run out of excuses now that the 5K Red cameras are here.

Good news. I agree with most... the 3D was worthless, but the film was actually much better than expected. Day one purchase for me.

April 8 for me
April 8 - yes. Still looking forward to it. I know, they padded some of the story and left out a striking transformation scene. But overall, it's a good film.

The go ahead was given for the next film, The Magician's Nephew, a prequal to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Nephew is the second most read book in the series.

Someone above said The Silver Chair was the next release. Who to believe?
I think the silver chair is the next release.

The Silver Chair would make sense as the next release since it is also the next chronologically in the series.

There are three other books: The Horse and His Boy, The Magician's Nephew, and The Last Battle. They were also written in that order after the first four books.

I don't see The Horse and His Boy getting a screen adaptation as it's really more of a side story, and the rest of the series can survive just fine without it.

The Magician's Nephew and The Last Battle serve to bookend the series, with Magician's Nephew being the beginning of Narnia, and Last Battle being the end. I can see Magician's Nephew being put to the screen, so long as Silver Chair does well. But Last Battle may be hard to do well as a movie partially because of the themes involved, and partially because it would require some very good dramatic acting from the child actors toward the end, lest it be corny. Visually, they would probably have to pull a "Wizard of Oz" and film the first part of the movie with desaturated/muted color, and the last part with full color. For the sake of not spoiling the last story, I won't go into why.

For some reason this release is 1.78:1 open matte - director approved? Not sure....

Also it's only DTS MA 5.1... what the hell Fox It was 7.1 in theatres. Same with Gulliver's Travels Blu-ray. What's so hard about putting the 7.1 track on the Blu-ray as well? Disney seem to have no trouble

1.78:1 was kinda weird, non 3D and all. Mostly dead space at the bottom of the screen. I didn't really mind though
