That said, I did have some great games with Snake, Trail, Nexus, Petastic, and Kendo this afternoon. I even enjoyed myself on Bazaar whack-a-mole, but I think that's more because we were running around as a squad and reviving each other more than anything else. Petastic went 27-0 despite being dropped a ton of times. I found a pretty cool server - they do Caspian FiaB, then WaM, then the same on Firestorm and Kharg. It's actually pretty fun varying tactics on the same level due to the objective.
Zath, I certainly wasn't slamming you in any way, so sorry if it came off that way. I misinterpreted your post. You originally said the game was still boring, and that was the extent of your initial comment. Since you fly nearly all the time, isn't it safe to assume you were talking about the whole game, including flying?
I understand wanting to feel useful and playing maps or modes that caters to one's abilities is something that everyone
obviously wants to do. All I was saying is that, for me, I need variety. I could probably have 100,000 tank kills by now if I only played Davamand Peak and only sat on objective B the entire match every time I played. My stats would look great; my KDR would probably be well over 15:1, my PPM would be 5X what it is now, and I would likely be a L100 Colonel by now. I would be bored to tears, however. I feel that there's so much to experience, that it would be a shame to only limit myself to that and only that.
It was rather deflating when I mentioned that I had 25 jet stars to you and your only response was, "Yeah, I'm on Service Star 79."
Don't really need a pat on the head from you, but I at least expected you to appreciate the stat more than anyone else. Ever since you quit playing, it's pretty much fallen on me to secure the skies in our games. However, these are Conquest games, and I often find myself fighting two jets and one to two choppers with an AA gun zeroing in on me. I'm locked and on the run nearly the entire match, but I'm keeping 4 or more guys occupied, thinking it's making things easier for the other 11 guys on the ground. It's certainly no Rush match, where I only have to worry about one other real threat while I decimate the ground targets at will. It's frustrating. Maybe that situation would be no problem whatsoever to you, but I'm not good enough to beat those odds regularly. I'd certainly rather be driving a tank and grabbing objectives, but that's not possible if nobody is up in the air at all and the enemy air is obliterating me on the ground before I get 20 feet out of base.
What I am most curious about is if most people only play to their strengths or do they go for variety? Are they willing to learn, try, or accept new things (even if they don't initially care for them or aren't good at them) if they help the team secure the win? Nexus is the epitome of a true Jack-of-All-Trades. He'll get up in the air and help out or at least create a distraction if asked, run support, gun in the tank or choppper, drive a vehicle, or anything else that's required to secure the win. He's tried every gun on the game at length
. He's obviously a master at C4, but will abandon that tactic if the sitation arises. This is what kind of player I'd like to be.
