(Although I did get a legit 467 yard/meter/whatever headshot today on Firestorm...nowhere near my tank headshot distance, however!
Spyder you have a lot of quotes I wanted to quote, but I'll just choose this one. What kind of round are you playing? Seine...with one tank per side? Do you want a redo? LOL
All the other ones I agree with though. MAV for me was done in one 200 ticket TDM match. M26, practically one Metro CQ match where we spawn trapped them in the subway. I suffered on the Claymores, but finally got it...should have just done BattleApartment maps.
I am very close to wrapping up all the assignments. Those blasted Mine kills irk me though. You never know what enemy team you are going to go up against. Complete morons that drive around as fast as they can, or veterans that either completely avoid you mines or just blow them up. I have success at the crest of short ramps / hills.
Spyder, I used your tip the other day spyder and got a kill with it pretty much right away. Double stack the mines. I stacked two right on top of each other in a curve in a dark shadow near D (towards C) on Kharg next to the building. Wasn't a long wait at all. I found Oman to be a good map for C4, especially buggy C4.
All you guys are absolutely killing me with this long range CQ sniper talk. Of course you can't kill anybody when half of the enemies are in vehicles. TDM is where it's at for easy gun kills for any class, Recon being no different. Though if you want to play conquest I would suggest Grand Bazaar, Seine, Karkand, Tehran even. Maybe Rush would be better than conquest, but still not better than TDM I would imagine. I really don't use snipers on Firestorm or Kharg all that much. Any shot over 200 meters is out of my comfort zone for sure (unless they are prone and never move in which case any range is fun)
I do like sniping on Caspian around B and C flag on a 300 ticket server though. Lots of close hiding spots there (like 50-100 meters) where you can take out two guys at a time, just have your pistol ready at times for defense. A tight match where my team is not defending those two flags very well, but where I can keep spawning in with my spawn beacon, usually turnw out to be fairly interesting. It can be a decent game of cat and mouse allowing you to go on some nice kill streaks.
My favorite TDM maps for snipes are probably Caspian, Karkand, Grand Bazaar, and possibly Kharg too, though Seine and Metro usually end up working pretty well too. Metro TDM with a red dot or small scope, usually up in the buildings with a tugs works fairly good as well. TDM can get old sometimes, but you can certainly rack up kills there for unlocks and assignments.
Snake, I'm sure you no doubt know the ACOG tilts a little, either left or right when you aim. That's not the issue is it? Wouldn't make sense though as I know you have a lot more experience with the ACOG than I do. I've never really been useful with it.
I'm still trying to figure out what Engineer gun I want to use as my all around gun. I went to the M4A1 for a long time, but feel it is lacking at longer ranges for some reason. I really like the Scar-H with the PKA 3.4 scope, but it has a small clip so your shots have to hit. But honestly I think I may even like it better than the M4A1 for some reason. I am testing the waters for other Engineer guns that can do well long range and short range. I picked up a G53 kit the other day and liked it, so started using it. But went away from it almost immediately. I don't have a single attachment unlocked for the SG553 yet. Does anyone have experience with that gun? ACW-R just seems okay, but I really have not used it much. I need to use the G36C, as I haven't really played with it since two patches ago.
I'm going through the same thing with the support class. I just can't seem to stay on one gun very long because I always get dissappointed by it. I think I am going to give the M249 some love to see what I think, since it really has been a while since I gave a decent shot. By I never really gave it a real good run. I guess I like the L86A2 and the M27, but go away from them because neither seem "right" for me. I wish the MG36 had extended mags again, but maybe I should go back to that again anyways as I haven't used it in a while either. But I got away from it because it seemed to lose me too many "closer" battles. It's okay though I guess.
I wonder if machine guns put down more suppression than others? I definitely think Bolt Action snipers and Machine guns should put down more suppression than other "lighter" guns.
Anyways, I'll be glad when these dumbass assignments are over...that's for sure.Edited by mphfrom77 - 7/31/12 at 11:36am
