Battlefield 3 - Page 364

Yeah, I may have been on the unlucky side. It probably didn't help that my team was getting dominated and we were losing those matches.

As my most used weapon, I must agree that the SCAR-H is a good weapon. I'm not sure why you seem to have so many issues with it, maybe it's the slow fire rate. You would have LOVED the original SCAR-H, that thing was a beast.

When I am through 100 kills with the SVD, I will start trying out the SKS. Does that start with Russian sight unlocks or American? I am not a fan of the Russian, magnified optics. They seem to take up more screen space than their American counterparts.

I finally finished all of the new kit assignments, now I just need to go out and get a ton of kills. I got the 400 needed for support and I am almost done with the recon kills. I have a lot to do on the assault and engineer kits, they have been largely neglected for the last week since I've been working on the support and recon assignments. Besides forcing you to use certain weapons and some of the dumb assignments (EOD bot kill, 350m headshot) they really aren't that bad. I never used mines before the assignment asked me to use them; now I see that they are a very useful piece of equipment. Most of the assignments are getting us to try new play styles and to use all of the available options, which isn't a bad thing. I wish I could tell you how many repair tool kills I have (for some reason Battlelog keeps track of your MAV kills, but nothing on your repair tool) in normal matches - after you hit a tank with the first rocket, just run up to it while the driver is looking for you and nine times out of ten he's disabled before he even realizes what's happening.

I got both of them on Seine - on PS3, I ran to and capped B at the start, deployed, and got a group that was coming down from D and trying to hide in the little cubby back there. I almost effed it up cause I was so giddy that two guys were in the cubby. On 360, we were up big and D was the only flag they had so I knew they'd be spawning there - I got someone that was setting up shop to RPG our tank.

It's a stupid assignment, but I had never used the EOD bot before, so it got me to pull it out. Same with claymores and mines - never use them, and while they were a little frustrating, it turned into a funny experience while trying to get them.

No recoil with suppressor and foregrip. It's kind of ridiculous.

EOD-BOT kill in one try on Metro. smile.gif Parked in the locker rooms, drove the bot around the corner and killed a guy as he was coming up the stairs...all within about 5 seconds. This came after running over 3 guys with it on Tehran, which doesn't count as a kill, unfortunately. Key is to hit the stairs with the torch already engaged, so that you're doing damage before your victim realizes it. (Engaging the torch may have also dome just enough damage to the guy that the game assumed I had burned him to death, rather than run him over, which I may or may not have actually done.)

350m headshot is a piece of cake, once you get used to hiding in the hills like a scared little schoolgirl. I'd venture that 70-80% of my L96 kills were 400-500 meters out. Bipod + 12X = ridiculously easy. That said, those 100 kills were boring as Hell, even though it did show me that I still know how to snipe at distance. While I enjoyed wrecking packs of snipers long-range on BC2, it's just not fun for me on BF3 at all. frown.gif

EOD bot kill technically should have been against a vehicle with an occupant so there would have been a game impact, same with regular torch. You just chose to drive around and test someone's asbestos underwear though as did I thus making it pointless.

I've tried every combo available; different scopes, irons, bipod, heavy barrel, suppressor, etc., and nothing seems to work. With other guns, there will be occasional times where I'll feel cheated out of a kill, but with the SCAR-H, I can be blasting buys in the back of the head and they just turn around and shoot me dead. Hell, I lost 4 gunfights in a row to guys with pistols yesterday. The odd thing is that I tend to get more kills with it when I spray-and-pray than actually aim, even with the bipod.
Oh well, just 30-something more kills with it and I'm completely done with DICE's latest set of CoDtastic assignments. Here's to hoping that Armored Kill gives us something far better than CQ.

It's possibly my favourite engineer weapon. Use Heavy Barrel and Reflex / Kobra (preference). Basically, if you're up close then go for headshots because if you don't, you will get out-RPMed (that's a word right?).
You really shouldn't be using this weapon in close quarters though. Run with the 93R if you're evil or the magnum/rex to compensate at close range. It really shines at medium to long range though. It's a 4 bullet kill out to 41 meters with the heavy barrel, which is so nice. You just have to tap fire it and try to keep the bursts to 2 bullets.

Ah, the bulb in my head just went off! smile.gif

Thanks, Baron. That pretty much explains why I suck with this gun, since nearly all of my gunfights occur at incredibly close range. I used to run USAS (no Frag) but since they nerfed the bejeezus out of it, it has become worthless. (Have yet to try it out with Slug, though.) Tried all other shotties, but there have been more than a few times that I've wished I had something with at least a little range. The P90 has treated me well over the past 2 months and it's become my new favorite. Any other guns and accessories anyone could recommend for my playstyle?
Nice to see you Baron. Wish you would enlighten us with you posts more often, as I am sure you are more familiar with some aspects of BF3 than some of us. I like the Scar-H as well. I have found I like the PKA 3.4x scope, but the Reflex dot sight sounds like it would be a good one for that gun but I don't remember ever trying it.

Spyder, after playing earlier today with the suppressor, after watching the video in this post, I would say you would most like benefit from the benefits of a suppressor. Truly, I think you should go suppressor for a while and see if you don't go on some nice killstreaks.

(The rest isn't just for Spyder, but anybody that might be interested as well)

I used the new ACW-R with a foregrip and a suppressor as suggested by this intheworksmedia guy, right after watching his video and absolutely loved it. It has been a long time since I have really used a suppressor. That setup felt perfect for that gun. He mentions something about how the worst / most will always be 6 shots for a kill (even with a suppressor), with 5 being the best / least. I even tried his suppressed G17 pistol (which is the only pistol which automatically comes with a laser which is nice I guess for non aimed fire) and that just adds to the stealthiness of the kit. Honestly I really didn't play stealthy but you can just stand at a corner, where you know enemies are, and take one guy out at a time as you slowly round that corner without them realizing where you are. If you happen to come up behind them even better. But I was surprised how many times I was like nearly right in front of guys shooting them or their buddies and they basically just didn't notice me, or at least until it was too late.

I mean, it wasn't a incredible game, but it was a pretty good game for me, but mostly it was a big eye opener for the suppressor, and really, how nice the ACW-R was equipped with it. It just handled perfectly. I've barely tried that gun before and just thought it was so so. But with a smaller map like I played on, Grand Bazaar, it just seemed perfect.

Here's that game...(btw, I tried the LVG grenade launcher for a brief period, but all that did was take away from ACW-R kills)...http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/59229142/2/362606889/

Here are the videos that motivated me to try the ACW-R with a suppressor and the G17C Suppressed...

I also tried using the AKS-74U based on his suggestion here in the following video...(though the I started the TDM round out with only a laser and a kobra sight unlocked...but really like the gun...burst fired with it mainly...to the point that I forgot sometimes that it was fully automatic, which came it handy in close quarters of course)...
My team was down bad early, but we at least kept it competitive...http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/59234348/2/362606889/

I'll be on in a little bit...

For close quarters engi the mtar is ridiculous. Not sure how close your engagements usually are but with mtar use kobra, and laser sight. Mp7 extended mag and laser sight. Don't even bother ads'ing. If you're good at getting your first shot to land, use spas w extended mag and slugs or buckshot.
This video is pretty funny. He states that on close quarters if you use the A-91 you should not even be aiming. He says you should used laser sight and just fire away. So he was being silly using the 7x scope with it...

I can't stand any of the PDWs, so hats off to you if you can do well with them, but that's probably because I like playing at range. I hear the SPAS or 870 are pretty beastly in close quarters. I always run slugs with my 870 because I got sick of infuriating hitmarkers. If I get a hitmarker with slugs I know they're dead at a certain range, but it does require more careful aiming and a bit more ADSing.

Thanks MPH, always enjoy popping in here once in a while. I'm often lurking and I'm always happy to throw in my 2 cents. Just don't ask me about conquest tactics.

On an unrelated note, I am totally in love with the SCAR-L right now. Anyone else? I'm not sure whether I've become more aggressive in my play lately, or the SCAR-L really is that good, but I've got 2.26 KPM with it compared to my average 1.6-ish with assault rifles. It sucks at close quarters but, my God, it destroys people at medium - long range, which is where I like to play. I've yet to try running it with the M26 slugs and 93R but I suspect I'll feel fairly invulnerable when I do biggrin.gif

Yeah that ACW-R is pretty nice. I was sucking it up on Damavand yesterday, switched to that gun with a bipod & heavy barrel and ripped off at least 30 kills with it all on the move. Interested to try some of the other configurations you guys mentioned.

I must be doing something wrong, cuz I think that gun flat-out sucks. Horrible recoil even w/ bursting/flash suppressor, very slow time to kill, etc. I'd stick with the higher ROF guns, like MP7 w/ extended mag or MTAR/Kobra/flash or silencer/laser sight. Could NOT kill anyone w/ that SCAR...

This is what I've been running on it. I tried the suppressor w/ grip first and just couldn't do it.
Finally gave in and started using the SKS some this weekend. And yep.. It's redic. Makes 0 sense to run shotty with slug when you can just use the sks.
I dunno I just have a hard time not using the assault kit if I'm running around and want to win the game. The shock paddles are the most valuable thing to ever be in an MP game. 2 is always greater than 1.

Also thought of something else this weekend. I think it'd be pretty sweet if they added a toggle to the dpad for recon when you are running any of the scopes. Make it detachable. Even if its a 5 second animation just to take it off or put it back on. I would use it all the time just with the acog, let alone a rifle scope etc..
Planning on getting a few games in this evening. Still gotta knock out 4 air kills.
I think I still got 5 air kills to knock out. Stinger doesn't count, right?

Good comeback on Metro yesterday. We were down big.
Correct stingers and iglas don't count. You need to use rpg, smaw, or jav.

Yeah that comeback was great. It was pretty rough at the beginning, plus with no one on our team putting pressure on objectives I was doubtful we would win. Good thing you were able to slip through again and cap C.
Speaking of Stingers and IGLAs, I have a nasty feeling that the set of assignments for Armored Kill will require kills with those launchers - I'm thinking 25. I have maybe 1 or 2 kills with them because they are so terrible and most jet pilots just use the afterburners and outrun the missile.

The DAO shotty with extended mag and flechette rounds is bad ass. Really an over powered gun in close quarters. I loved running it on a recon class on Metro so I could have a motion sensor up. Make sure someone in your squad is running ammo perk or is Support.
New AK Gamescom trailer up, unable to link off phone but search YouTube and filter by uploaded today. Very slight amount of Aftermath teaser not worth showing IMO but its there.

One night and one snow map + their all massive. AK releases Sept 11 for us premo Xboxers. Guess whatever other games I planned on playing better be done have a feeling I'm going to have a rough end of month...
Snake -- SKS is insane, flash supressor + grip and has very little recoil. Was even better pre-patch with less recoil and the high supression but still like using it now with irons, by far my favorite sniper rifle.

Will try to jump on tonight if you guys are going to be on. For air kills, javelin is way to go. Working on my laser designation medal so will be happy to assist smile.gif
post #10913 of 16243
That SKS sounds fun.

Snake - I know what mean about assult, seems like that's the most "helpful" class to run, next to support. I have to say my fav is running engineer, but I don't run it as much as I used to.

I haven't unlocked the extended mag yet, but I will co-sign this post. The flechette rounds on the DAO-12 are nuts inside its range. You just can't use the entire mag, the empty reload time on it is ridiculous. Speaking of shotguns, the underslung M26 slug seems to be the new OP thing since everything else has been sufficiently nerfed. That attachment is pretty nice, I just hate running assault without the health pack.
Yea I haven't tried it with the grip, I just threw on the bipod. I wish you could unlock an acog for it though. I hate the other 4x.

I need to get 3 air kills also, but can't play tonight =(

Hap Engineer is probably my second fav class too but no matter how hard I try I can't force myself to stick with it for more than one or two deaths on an infantry map or a map that I'm running lot.

WHICH REMINDS ME.
The bunny hop/halo jump is extremely lame AND I do it all the time. It's just too much of a habit when holding a controller. I don't do it with a keyboard but it's just too much out of the norm not to do. It really needs to be looked into though. We played some guys last night that were running alot like I do--- getting shot at? Jump, change direction, jump, cover. I know why everyone says i should die when I'm running now haha. I'm starting to think it and the rail jump action are tied pretty closely together. Someone needs to do some testing but It seems a jumping guy definitely eats a lot more bullets. I'm not talking about maybe I hit him, I'm talking about I put 15 rounds into his chest before he stopped moving and i killed him with the next 10. It's like the hit box disappears.
I bunny hop too - but I attribute it to my ADD where I constantly need to be doing something/pressing a button. It feels like I run faster if I do it, but it is lame and I wish I could stop doing it. I need to start wearing a bunny hop patch to help the withdrawals.
Sounds like lag if it's taking that many hits. Quit playing on my West Coast servers! Sunday there were a few games where it was difficult to kill the other team, but of course they seemed to be dropping us no problem. Seemed like everyone on our team was lagging except for one dude who went 60-6 in a tank.

Do you guys want to set up a match of some kind for this Sunday? AVS vs AVS?
