Still lots of stuff for daywalkers to do. You can dominate on foot with the Jav in many situations in both CQ and TS modes. Alborz is a good one for hoofing it between the top 3 flags and you have a real advantage once you get the higher ground. Oddly enough, I've spent more time on foot in AK than I ever did on other maps. Robbo and I rode around on a ATV on one map, just capping flag after flag after flag, virtually untouched. (We did get killed once by a L100 colonel after I failed to run him down. redface.gif) Even without the quad, we were taking objectives left and right. Some maps are simply too big to walk on, however.

I'm amazed at how quickly some of you memorize the maps. Lowgn was 50 feet outside our base on one TS map immediately after it loaded up. Me, I still feel like I'm running around without a clue as to what is where at this point...although I have been prone to stop often and just enjoy the beauty of the views of these gorgeous maps. I'm still in awe at some of the details (both large and small) that they threw into these.

Had fun on the new maps, much different than anything else and that is a good thing. Also looks like they are 12v12 for Conquest so we will be able to mix these in a 'standard' map rotation eventually which is a plus.

Shmoopy how'd you get the AC130 kills in jets? I tried and yeah I'm a sh***y pilot but one pass with seekers and full cannons only got it on fire and someone else cleaned up the kills. Can you get it down in one pass if you line it up right?

Not to mention it has 2 Giants on it as well. First glance looks like Shiles has the best squad on paper.

I am a pretty terrible pilot too, it took me multiple passes. It took me at least 3 passes, one of which included a jet ram.

Yahoo picked Baby Got Snacks to run away with it. I don't think my team sucks, I just don't like it too much. But Then again, I don't like the two other fantasy teams I have where I did the drafting myself.

lol thanks, don't feel that bad then. Harp did help me get it down in the chopper so got the achievement but always looking for easy Jet kills ha. Actually will be interesting to see how Zath does when he gets this DLC feel like Jets in the right hands could dominate these maps.

Gunship gets knocked down quick but it's hard to solo and actually get the K. For me I'd tear it up and someone else would cap it off.

Well it looks like our teams for fantasy football have been drafted. I am not a big fan of my team, but oh well, guess I can peruse the free agents.

Edit-missed a page...yeah I'll have to check out everybody's team. I'm sure a few might need a advice on how it all works. I am sure I'll make mistakes though.

Uh yeah. Everytime I was in a Jet I pretty much had free reign to do whatever I wanted, which was usually crashing into trees. I agree, a good jet pilot could probably tear it up. But, idk, I like running with stingers on these maps, because there is just so many darn air vehicles. Hapi and I were camping the top of Alborz, D flag where that dome tower thing is, briefly with stingers and C4 and, you know what, it was damn hilarious I thought.

That mobile AA takes down the gunship with a quickness. I was whoring that vehicle last night - super fun. A quick 1,2 fire of anti-air missiles and about 5 secs worth of gun fire and the gunship is down.

Yeah mph, that was a nice camping that tower. I also like parking the LAV AD in the middle of the lake and taking out aircraft. From the lake you can also guard both the A & E flags, so lots of action.

I almost bought Premium last night to see if I could turn the tide on Rush defense. With lots of people complaining about Rush attackers being so overpowered with vehicles, I'm curious what a good defending jet pilot could do. I ended up passing to adopt my "wait and see" attitude. Plus if I'm not interested in the last two DLCs, I'm essentially paying $50 for a DLC that costs $15. Too difficult to justify $35 for two weeks' early access.

So while 12 of my friends were playing AK, I ended up playing in a jets only server full of low-ranks. Just not the same once all those preemies head on to greener pastures.

Interesting about shooting down the AC-130. Spyder remarked last night that it took a good number of homing missiles to shoot it down. I wonder how many strafing runs it will end up taking. If people were pissed about jets ramming choppers, I have a feeling they won't be too happy about jets ramming AC-130s!

I'm surprised that they continue moving at the same pace/flightpath once disabled. Kinda wish they'd start a slow descent or something to simulate actually being disabled.

In either case, I'm glad to hear that people are enjoying the new maps. Hopefully, the excitement continues, unlike what happened with BFBC2:Vietnam. I had to visit family for two weeks, and so by the time I got home and purchased it, everyone had already switched back to vanilla.

So, I'll probably see you guys in two weeks!

Was wondering where you were Snake... I will prob miss you then on AK and might need to catch you on the random off hours I may or may not be on.

Zath -- thing with AK is that they are 24 player Conquest and Rush servers so these maps can go into the regular rotation. I feel like what turns out to be the best maps in the long run will end up in standard popular map rotations.

Problem with BC2:Vietnam was that it was an entirely different mode and did not have a mix of both standard and Vietnam, similar to Close Quarters DLC which at 16 players only really F's up 'normal' sized Conquest maps so no one likes playing those rotations and typically play CQ only rotations.

I agree with this, the mobile AA is so awesome. I'm so glad we can finally use it on a conquest map (besides Wake Island, but no one ever plays Karkand).

I think they should give the Gunship to the Defending team on Rush, but once the first MCOM is taken on any stage, it won't respawn until the next stage. It would force the attackers to really try and get that 1st one down or drop the Gunship. But it also takes some defenders away from the mcoms thus possibly making it easier to get to. The attackers already have more vehicles than the defenders so it seems that would be a better balance. It would also take away the parachute spawning on the MCOMs that attackers basically can do.

overall I like the maps I've played, it was fun having full squads last night playing conquest. My biggest gripe so far is that I feel like the gun play feels a little different. Also, my sound is messed up more than before, not sure if it's only on the new maps (only thing ive played since the patch). When I'm in a vehicle though I rarely get any sound when i get hit by a tank round or an rpg. Usually you get the metal crushing sound and I only get that noise a minority of the time.

Got a few rounds in rush this morning, I agree the attackers have an advantage. I think it would be fun though to have us play together and defend on those maps. Just throwing this out there, but maybe dice wanted to give a distinct advantage to the attackers to see if that would attract more people to playing rush? Not saying this is the correct approach, but second to map design, this attracts me more to play rush. I would rather lose trying to defend mcoms than to lose by struggling to arm them when all two lanes are covered by the camping defenders.

Trail, I agree with you. The best games are the ones where you know you shouldn't win, but you still do. Rush has always been annoying on some maps because people who sit back and snipe (poorly) or don't play the objective greatly hinder the team's ability to push forward. My favorite Rush games are the ones with 200% or even 500% tickets and defending. I remember one Kharg match we got the enemy down to 75 tickets (from 500) and finally lost the final MCOM. Sure, we lost, but damn did we put up a good fight! Just like Thermopalye.

I don't know Zath. I think there is something special about the new maps right out of the gate. Noobs with their vehicles everywhere. I think you would enjoy it with us. Personally I'm counting on the next map pack to be my favorite. Something along the lines of Grand Bazaar and Seine Crossing.

I thought the most fun would be TS, but I actually enjoyed playing conquest even more.

Conquest on Armored Shield was the most fun... a lot going on in the air and on the ground.

so far conquest has been my favorite game mode. But I think that's directly proportional to being in a squad with AVSers. Played a few rounds of rush just to get the ac-130 kills to unlock the AA missiles in the mobile artillery, I still cant hit anything on the ground with that thing. Only managed to kill air vehicles with the AA missiles. Played the Death Valley (night map) on conquest, that was pretty fun even though our team was getting pwned. Its nice to have the little bird in other conquest maps now. ECM in the little bird seemed to be less reliable than before, deployed a few times before a steady lock on tone was acquired, still got locked and missile still hit confused.gif

I enjoyed playing AK last night but it feels that some of the maps are too damn big for 12v12. I can only imagine how awesome this must be on PC with 64 players.

These maps are nirvana for the Engineer class-- In conquest you can have a lot of fun taking out aircraft with the newly re-buffed Stingers and on Tank Superiority you can get a ton of Javekin kills. Also squad repair points abound.

Well, after Lowgn left, I decided to try some Rush on AK. We actually won defending on Bandar Desert. I think when we flipped they did the same to us. It was actually quite a fun Rush map. I caught the end of Alborz Mountain attacking. The last stage it seems the Defenders could possibly hold due to the location of the MCOM in the tower.

Death Valley is Fing terrible. That is the most lopsided set up I have seen. They need to just pull the AC-130 out of that map. It seems like it would be a cool map but with the AC-130 its just laughable.

Didn't get to try Armored Kill Rush, not sure how that will play.

I finally got to Colonel last night! Granted I took 6 months off but it still felt nice.

Sorry I dropped out last night guys, for some reason I started to lose my connection to EA Online and the party was getting muffled so I just left.

I did not enjoy Tank Superiority at all. I think it was just a bad first time. I was getting so annoyed at the random craters in the ground that kept throwing off my aim and how it seemed like it only took 2 shells to destroy my tank destroyer.

I downloaded the maps last night and played a bit after a hiatus. Sees really cool but would definately like to join up with some of you. Was getting mowed down pretty bad on teams where no one was working together. Should be on tonight for awhile and definately Friday or Saturday nights.

It's amazing how different the regular servers are now. Joined a jet map server (mix of conquest and rush jet maps). Maybe one or two colonels on each side. Everyone else was ranked in the 20s and 30s, a few below and a few above.

Moral of the story, now is the best time to go for jet kills. Get in a regular map and obliterate. Even if you are a novice in the jet, most of the enemy jets you are going up against are also novice pilots.

I'm saving my first jet kill for either Zath or Spyder. When I can take out one of those muthas legit, then I'll know my training is complete. Till then I'm cool with disabling the **** out of people.

Does anyone know how to use the mobile artillery well?

I used it once and I got noob-tubed out of it while driving. It's like a mortar, but aiming is awkward. I didn't find it too enjoyable. Also, I have to remember to equip my javelin now, I have been running around with the RPG/SMAW and it just doesn't make sense to equip that any more.
