Need to have a Midwest AVS conference, I'm in central Illinois.

If you factor in 24 different players, their connection, their location in the world, the server, it's connection and location plus all the Live overhead it's pretty amazing all this works so well.

+100 to setting up ports on your router makes a big difference. Think all the howtos are on portforward.com. There's only like three that you need, if memory serves its 55, 88, and 3074. That improves all xbox live games not just BF.

Some of the things you've mentioned, I don't have to deal with:
- My Xbox is hardwired to the modem (through UVerse, my modem and router are all in one). I'm pretty sure I'm using a cat 5 cable that is less than 6 feet long).

This is another one that happens to me, I fire my fully automatic weapon and I only shoot one bullet, then I get sprayed by an enemy. No, my gun is not in single shot. It's like the game just stops me from shooting and says that I have to die.
Screw that guy in that video, how do some people get so good at this game. I can't even shoot stationary targets that well.

I have a 60 down/ 6-8 up connection hard-wired(cat-6) less than a foot away from the 360 and STILL once in awhile I get a problem, especially that single shot thing. It's funny, the single shot thing happens to me whenever I go one on one w/ some guy who's like 120-30 on Metro. I always think they're cheating somehow...Anyways, your upload's a tad low for online gaming. If $ isn't an issue, see why your ISP(or another) can offer for an upgrade. Do you have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem? Well, I'm gonna have to make some moves with my fantasy football team. For one I can't be cheering for a Steelers player. For two I have to have players I know and like. If anybody is interested in any of my players let me know. I will be taking a look at free agents.

My friend insists they never fixed the texture loading issue from installing the game to the hard drive and I say they have, but I can't find the patch notes that say this. Did they ever fix that?

So playing TDM yesterday on horrible Alborz Mountain, I guess I decided to troll / investigate how well frag rounds worked. They are still pretty crappy, but there is something fun about them. I tried to parachute onto the dome and rain suppression upon my foe as best I could, but my squad was not on board (not putting out beacons for me). Actually I tried them on other maps as well, and just kind of enjoyed them as a nice change of pace. Silly for the most part.

Anybody want to join a Frag Round troll party with me sometime? I was thinking a whole squad on top of the dome raining down frag rounds, grenades and noob tubes grenades.

Here are a couple of really nice Attack Chopper video clips from LevelCap's and Matimio's 'Get to the Chopper / Double Vision' series, and these are the newest from Armored Kill maps with the new patches. Looks like they have switched from ECM to Flares, so possibly that is the way to go, especially since you can now destroy soflams. I've watched almost all of their chopper video's and it seems that they own on these maps more so than on the old maps / old patch. Most likely because in one video (Armored Shield) there are no Jets available. Though, I have been running with stinger / igla on my engineer kit and have been owning with them, and it didn't really seem like they were up against that all that much, though they are pretty good at picking out who is using one against them. I really like their team work, and their use of the TV Missile.

Hardly looks like choppers are "useless now" to me. Hell, I can barely fly the damn thing and I still get kills with it.

Those of you who played AK so far - do you feel the maps are just too underpopulated? Seems like there's always action in the two videos, but I'd imagine that's not necessarily the case on the xbox...

I agree it looks like there wasn't that much coordinated effort to down them. A few AA tanks, a stationary AA at one point, and some random guys with stingers. That one map with no jets seemed nice for chopper pilots. That's one thing I always liked about one of the BtK maps (Sharqi) - no jets, just two attack choppers.

I do enjoy flying in the chopper and would love to get better with them, especially piloting and using the TV missile. I'll probably start focusing on that once I'm done with jets smile.gif

Yeah PC players get Attack Choppers on Death Valley (night map) for CQ, but we don't. The only heli's we get on that map are Scout Heli's, right?

Speaking of crappy connections, I have had issues for a couple of months now. I have DSL with 3MB down and 768 up, theoretically. I get 2.2 down and 600 up in real world. I finally figured out what my problem was a while back,...my oldest son had used my youngest's pc to download some torrents when he was grounded and never took the file off and was seeding 24-7 for a couple of weeks. Upload was completely dead at my house. I could sit and watch everything going on in the game but could not move. Same thing happened last night but my xbox was the only connection on in the whole house. Not sure what the hell is going on but I think I am going to have to change ISP. My other choice is charter cable and I absolutely hate them...but I got to get my game on.

I built a pretty sick PC last summer for under $1500. I owned Macs for awhile and was about to spring for another when a buddy convinced me how much more I could get for my money by building my own - it would have cost me even less if I didn't need a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I think the performance using an SSD alone made the decision worth every penny. If you have the peripherals, then you shouldn't have a problem piecing one together for under $1k.

I'm an awful PC gamer, but was playing some BF over the weekend and somehow managed to hold my own throughout my playtime. Noshahr Canals has attack choppers on it too and I believe every map with air has mobile AA. 64 player Metro is just retarded...but some reason I kept going back to it. I would argue that there are just as many disadvantages to 64 players on some of the maps as there are with 24 on console, but the good thing about PC is that you can adjust the server size. 64 was great on the larger maps - hopefully when new consoles roll out, map sizes won't need to be tailored towards two different platforms.

Yes, they feel underpopulated most of the time. There are some exceptions: the B-C-D flags on Alborz Mountain and the AC-130 flags on each map.
