Gears 3 and BF3 will be out about the same time. I hate it when they do this!!

This is why expect a little more love in the press for the consoles. We're the ones making it possible for you to develop for the PC... Just saying. No one has to be left out but certainly don't turn your nose up at your money maker. My .02.

I don't think they've dissed the consoles at all. They are just saying that BF3 PC is the lead platform. The game is the true successor to BF2 which was PC so I don't find it odd.

My guess is this may be their PC swan song as I'm sure the next BF game will be on a new console generation and I would imagine the new consoles would be the lead platform by then because of the numbers listed above. (Just a guess)

I prefer when they say that, especially with a game like BF. IMO the whole BF experience will be better if they do it that way.

Kind of a neat look at DICE's office/game studio:

Gameplay footage released. WOW. Looks good, the little they did show.

New video. It's short but does show a little in game footage.

Dare I say it looks buttery smooth!
If the finished game actually looks like that then wow. Too many companies have flashy "in-game" videos that end up looking nothing like the actual game.

I'm sure that's PC footage, but it says gameplay, not in-game

Yes it does. I just hope it looks the same when I play it. Most likely it's PC.

yeah looks very impressive.. biggest thing i question is the Fall 2011!!! i think winter 2011 at the best.. but i hope i am wrong..
damn looks awesome so far I'm guessing that's single player they're showing us?

Seeing a game like this makes me wish the next gen was coming. No way it looks like that on the 360 or PS3. Very impressive video and I anxiously await some console videos.

I agree with the PC as the lead platform being a good thing. Scaling it to the 360 shouldn't be difficult at all. The PS3 is a different story but I would hope by now they can get a game running smoothly across all platforms. I would still expect the 360 version to out perform the PS3 version.

looks like clips from them demo'ng frostbite. The thing gameinformer got to play.. If I had better connection i would probably have to say adios to the 360 and hello to pc for awhile =( on this one.. Can't wait.

on another note odd that I want that track for my phone? text/calls etc..?

Why would you expect the 360 to look better than the PS3?

I looked at the Wiki entry today for Frostbite 2 and it had one of the following notes:

Quote:

Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA), again implemented with DirectCompute, for bandwidth conservation.[4] MLAA is currently available only to a few PlayStation 3 games such as God of War III and LittleBigPlanet 2. DICE intends to bring this feature to DirectX 11 GPUs.

As I said to my friends, it seems like this game could be the first where the advanced processing features of the PS3 start to trump the 360 and allow it to have a longer lifecycle than the 360.

It always seems like PC developed games come out much better on 360. Architecture of those systems is very similar. It is really a guess on my part. History is really in favor with my guess as most multiplats run better on the 360 unless the PS3 is the lead.

I will buy the 360 version unless the PS3 version is much better. I expect both systems to run about the same in the end.

According to the @BattlefieldNews Twitter feed, the BF3 trailer "is not pre-rendered CG, it's realtime rendered gameplay."

Also, and this is crazy: "The guys at BF-Games took a close look at one of the scenes from the gameplay trailer, and found what might be a match for the map on the table. Using Google Maps it looks like the map could be Al Basrah, Iraq. Thanks Blond3r."

The music and the artistic styling of both Battlefield 3 previews owe a lot to this.......

Watch the BF3 video and then watch this.

made me go back and watch this, remember this being badarse back in "the day", little outdated but still pretty good. They always do well with their promos/intros.

The chinese dudes running crack me up every time.
Also makes me hope they bring back the guided missile for the chopper gunner, that thing is awesome.

knew i could count on formula for it

Well hopefully the Xbox port isnt too bad. Otherwise I may just end up picking this up on PC. All I need is a new graphics card really.

I thought they did a good job doing the frame by frame in the video. I just hope it looks as good on the XBOX since I do not even have a PC setup for gaming.

DICE community manager Daniel Matros has posted on the Battlefield 3 forums that the Back to Karkland content pack (free on launch day with an in-box code, EA-style) will have four old Battlefield maps done up in the new Frostbite 2 engine: the original Wake Island, along with Battlefield 2's Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and the Sharqi Peninsula. That's right, Wake Island again, as if enough blood hasn't been shed on that little patch of ground.

When a player asked if that's all of the retro maps returning to the game, Matros declined to "comment on any of that at the moment," which in community manager speak usually means something other than no, leaving a chance, however small, to get your Kubra Dam action on someday. But seriously, who's going to be bothering around with all of those old maps on launch day anyway? Gotta go find those new chokepoints, right?

Good news. 4 maps on top of whatever original content they are coming up with - the more the merrier. I love Wake Island. They can keep bringing it back through Battlefield10 if they want.
