1812 Overture is always a classic

Yea Trail, agreed with hapi its def not your speed or latency. Something else going on. Have you tried going straight from your modem to your box? I'd try pinging several places and checking for packet loss and I can't remember off the top of my head what a good visual traceroute site is but they can interesting to look at as well.

Trail did you ever check if your modem is Docsis 2 or 3?

Advertised speed is 15 down and 2 up. My modem is Docis 2. I dont know much about internets, but when I was playing some this morning all dice servers no matter what location were at 1 bar ping for me. I was having some issues with lag also, so I did the speed test on my cellphone over wifi.

Normally, I disconnect the pc from the router and have my xbox hardwired to the router when I'm playing. I have my xbox in the DMZ. The only other things I know of that would be using my connection are 3 smartphones and an ipad. But those devices are usually not being used and if they are at all its just checking email or surfing the web, no netflix or streaming. I do have an old azz xbox, no hdmi version, not sure if that would matter or not.

Next step is playing with xbox directly connected to the modem I guess.

Thanks. I will test these songs out.

I was never a fan of the Saliva band, but I did think of that song.

I have a few song ideas I think I will test out. I am only doing the video to play around with syncing video to certain video parts.

A D3 modem did wonders for my connection, but my connection would always bog down during peak hours. If I was lucky I would get half my advertised speeds during that time. Now I get full speeds 24/7 without fail.

Whens the last time you updated your router software or did a hard reset on it?

Ditto on modem if you have one. My Comcastic modem craps out from time to time and a reset is needed. Also if yours is like mine and runs constantly they seem to last 3 to 5 years before weird issues come up and a replacement is needed.

never and probably a few months. I'll check on the SW and do a reset on it also. Eventually I want to get a new modem, but I have to save my pennies for other things right now. In a few months I plan on getting a new modem and software for video editing. The in-box sw that comes with my pvr is only good for cutting clips. Cant do any music, transition effects between clips, slo-mo, or fast fwd. Thanks for the advice on my connection issues smile.gif If you guys think of anything else holla

I plan on testing out some editing software this weekend, so I'll let you know what I find.

What editing software are the rest of you using?

Here is what happens sometimes, that's why I'm asking about the internets. The second part (after the C4 incident) is later in the game where I found a hornets nest

Looks like packetloss IMO

Bypass your router like you planned. Bypass for at least a few gaming sessions. We can go from there.
I'll do direct to modem tomorrow morning. No one will need internet then. Thanks for the help.

I am about to try it with the song Boom by P.O.D but I am not 100% sold on the song yet. Was wondering if anyone here maybe had an ideas for a good song that I can try the video with.

Bonus points for incorporating Barney dancing on the body of your victim.

Went up in an aerobatic glider yesterday. Pulled 5 positive and 2 negative g's. Got to pilot it through several turns and three loops! The glider could also go inverted, so we did several slow rolls and even did an inverted airfield flyby like Spyder and I do when we play BF3 biggrin.gif

Next time in a F18. Sweet pics Zath.

Anyone hopping on this morning? I'll prob be on in a hour. Didn't get to play this week, so time for proper Sat session.
Zath, that's awesome!

Im about to get some bf3 in with direct to modem gameplay, now that I got some traps set up in the attic...damn squirrels shacking up and not paying any rent!

I think I figured out how I'm going to get my multi kills for Rambo... It may be cheesy, cheap, and very d-baggy, but I'm going to Close Quarters and I'm C4'ing flags. There's no way I think I'm getting it any other way. I never see full a Little Bird/Z11 and whenever I try to flank, the other team is never noobish enough to not be watching their backside. Time to be a jerk!

Hapi how long you gonna be on? I'm at work now but I should be on late afternoon for a good marathon.

And does anyone know of xbox trigger extenders? I remember seeing some a long time ago but have no idea who makes them. Not the freeks, have those and love them. Well on one of the sticks anyways.

You may be referring to Modsticks, you replace the entire thumbstick with a metal adjustable stick. You can also adjust the head type and install stops on the triggers.

On the modem topic. I upgraded from a 6 year old docsis 2.0 modem to a Motorola Surfboard docsis 3.0 modem. My ISP is Charter and consistently get 15-30 down and 2-3 up.

I would notice that my old modem would reset itself 2-3 times per night during heavy traffic (FaceTime streaming to Apple TV, large torrent downloads, etc...) so I decided to go to 3.0.

On speedtest.net, my ping is now about 10-15 ms when before it varied between 30-60 ms. Is this all due to my new 3.0 modem? If so, I think I definitely noticed it last night while playing BF3. I seemed to win WAY more one on one duels.... could this be due to 20-30 ms bump in ping? Or could it be due to the fact that I was drinking Union Jack IPA and in the zone?

My xbox is hard-wired to an Apple Airport extreme N wireless router.

Ahh okok thanks, I'll check into those.
On modems, docsis 2/3 I believe is supposed to just deal with how high the transfer rate CAN go. 2.0's max speed is around 30-35 meg down and 3.0 is upwards of 3-4 times that. But if you are only being fed 15 meg down it really doesn't matter.
Having said that. If your 2.0 modem is old then yes you will probably see an increase with a new 3.0 modem but you would probably also see an increase if it was a 2.0 due to better tech and software.
TL;DR- Spare change? Modem upgrades never hurt.

I love my modsticks and my triggers. Adjustable trigger tension is a sweet deal. Just sucks you need to take everything apart.

Just traded in blk ops 2 towards the nexus tablet. Lol got $30 for it. Awesome!l

Docsis 2 only allows for one download and upload channel, where D3 allows for multiple channels and is able to channel hop to the best ones. I noticed vastly improved line quality when I upgraded. Check some forum feedback to see if others in your areas have upgraded.

Here's a clip of me cheating by running medic and engineer at the same time:

That's right. But you still wont see a difference unless you have 2-3 reaching out at the same time (trail or anyone with multiple devices on the connection) or you are over 40 meg. Anything else and there isn't any difference speed but I would think on stability.

Lol i still have those clips too hah
When u hopping on?
Played direct to modem today. Still had issues, I'll upload them later maybe tomorrow. Nothing as bad as the video I uploaded earlier but still frustrating. I may have to spring for a new modem with the justification of keeping my anger down. Still had some fun games with hapi.
Damn. Looks like I just missed you guys...again.
