Yeah, Peg should easily have more kills than anyone with the igla. Lets see who has the most, and whoever that is has to get a new AVS server for being such an A-hole.

I have a combined 121 stinger/igla kills.

Your lead ahole so far, I have 104 on 360 combined. Don't have many on PS3 at all.

Oh ya I wasn't even the least bit worried it would me.
I've got 415 kills between both igla/stingers. These days, why not, everybody else does it. They are so powerful right now.
I have 69 with both. I think I'll keep it that way in honor of Spyder's gamertag

I'm getting ready to power on my pc build for the first time. Wish me luck.

I have question about the Humble Bumble thing. There is about 30 minutes left to get in on it. So I obviously won't have my pc ready by then. Can I purchase it through my laptop and then use it on my desktop?

Confused. Is it just a key code or something?
Party time mph. You're going fall in love with all that horsepower.
Eff it...I just made the purchase ($6) and figured it out that way. Guess I can just redeem codes whenever I am ready. (Looked like the only game I would be interested in besides BF3 is Mirror's Edge.)

I hope it's party time. I'll find out in 3...2...1...

Nothing...the power button on the mother board flashed once...lol...can't figure out how to turn it on...lol...here I go down the rabbit hole...

Nevermind, guess I still don't know what's off and on with a power switch between a line and a O (I / O)...booted fine...will report back hours later.

Sorry, if I had been home I would have posted that the Humble Bundle was just a code you can redeem one time whenever and on whatever device you want.

You should definitely play Dead Space. (DS1 is one of my Top 25 easily of this gen.) Mirror's Edge is barely mediocre.

Also, you never let us know what video card you got. Was it this one? http://www.provantage.com/asus-gtx690-4gd5~7ASU91MX.htm

Make sure you play DS1 in the dark with surround cranked. Never forget getting off an elevator to a chick screaming like she was being horribly mutilated. Scared the crap out of me and was totally unexpected.

This. DS1 was the scariest game I've ever played. DS2 was more of the same, but you expect it. DS3 was merely okay, as they focused far too much on making it more of a "shooter" rather than a survival horror game, likely to accommodate the stupid co-op aspect into the game. Sorry, but not every game needs to have you play with a buddy holding your (hand.) frown.gif

BTW, if anybody wants to follow along in my noob pc setup, here is a thread where I am getting advice...http://www.overclock.net/t/1422384/noob-any-last-minute-tips-before-i-power-up-any-tips-period/0_50

Currently it is literally like a streaming of my setup process and questions. All it is missing the the video / audio.

No, d***head, I have not picked out a video card yet.

??? confused.gif ???

Just wondering, as you've never said what you planned on putting in or what your budget was.

Given that you've spent $1700 so far, $900 for a vid card isn't exactly unreasonable to me as it is one of the most important parts.
Well, I'm just messing with you if it is not clear.

But I figured you were messing as well. I know you (rightfully so) think my build is a little crazy, as well as others.

In my defense I am trying to put together a quality setup that can last 7-8 years if I am lucky. As far as the gpu and pretty much the whole build, I've kind of gravitated to the idea that this could very well be my one shot at having a nice pc...or at the very least the gaming side of it. I did up my budget on several items (monitor, keyboard, mouse, ssd,).

Now I am indeed considering going with a higher tier gpu, but I can't quite pull the trigger yet. I know there are several nice $200-$300 gpu's, I just think they will not last as long as a $400-$700 gpu for gaming. I am considering a gtx 780 which range in price from $620 to $765. My reasoning was, it may be my one shot at a gaming pc in all honesty...it would be better at some video creation stuff if I did go deeper down that path...and it would probably last a couple years longer, gaming wise than the lesser priced $200-$300 models (but I really don't know...obviously since I am a pc noob).

So there it is in all my painful admittance. I understand I could have spent way less for a gaming pc. I am trying to do more than gaming. What can I say. I decided to go for it.

But I am still very undecided on a gpu. I was thinking about getting one of those "Ebay Korean" 27" PLS overclockable 1440p monitors that have been selling lately for $260-$270, but I may be reconsidering that. And if so then I probably can reconsider the dropping down to a say 770 or something. This would definitely open up some funds to allow me to go ahead and consider some type of music stuff, which I haven't even looked into yet.

I know AMD has incredible deals right now with their added games and new cards coming out Oct/Nov. But I have definitely keyed in on Nvidia cards.

I really don't know what gpu I am going to go with though.

In my opinion, it doesn't really matter. You've entered the rabbit hole and there's no going back. Prepare to be inflicted with upgrade-itis now for life.

2-3 years...Really?
Yeah the thing about computers I've found is that when you "buy more to future-proof" yourself, you're just pissing away money.

If a $1000 computer lasts 2-3 years, then in 2-3 years, spend another $1000 and put together a pc that would've cost $3000 2-3 years ago.

OR just upgrade that $1000 computer every 2-3 years with the best $200 - $300 video card you can get.

The thing about the uber video cards is that game developers don't really cater to them. When developers create a game, they want as many people as possible to be able to play it. That means their pool of potential customers is the greatest. Sure you can do a few extra pixels of shade, or a couple extra flashes of light, but does that added experience equal the added expense? That's an individual decision that no one can agree on. To me, there's no need.

2-3 years ago I bought a gaming laptop for about $1400 my wife to play Civ V. She never uses it so I took it over. It plays Battlefield 3 just fine. Not max, but good enough. It handles Skyrim and Civ V on max. I'd imagine it can handle BF4 on medium just fine. If I need to get a new computer in a year or two, it's no biggie. I could have put $3k into a gaming laptop and I'd probably still be in the same position as I am today. Or worse - a $3k gaming laptop I bought a few years ago had GPU issues and fortunately it got replaced by a better model. But even the Alienware A17x with dual ATi 4870s gets its butt handed to it by my wife's Asus G73JW with one nVidia 460. A $3k computer gets defeated by a $1.4k computer just one year apart. It's also much lighter, runs cooler, and draws less power. Hmm...

I think Alienware went downhill ever since Dell took them over. I've read some good stuff with the Asus gaming laptops and that is one of my choices right now. Its either an Asus or a Sager which I never heard of before but have read good things about them as well. Looks like I need to hurry up and order so I can play with MPH.

We don't really have a clan here, just some folks that like to play BF3. As you may have read, some of us are on mixed platforms for bf3 and it will be the same with bf4. Post your gamertag or send out some friend requests if you're interested in having a group to game with.

Yeah buddy serious. Your hardware will stay the same, but the games and wares will keep advancing and become increasingly intensive. Eventually your hardware will struggle to keep up. That seems to happen sooner than later unfortunately.

For instance, I built my first HTPC in 2007, and this year I built version 4.

Sounds like you built a great rig man enjoy it.

Yeah my first laptop was the Dell XPS 1730. We called it the Beast. Too bad the BIOS wouldn't kick on the fans until the card got too hot. And then they'd kick off too soon. A few cycles through and the card's connections start cracking. And then it's dead card. Dell refused to change the fan tables in the BIOS, and believe it or not people who hardcore overclocked their processors NEVER had a problem (the fans were ALWAYS on). I went through 2 GTX 8800 replacements (each in a pair) before they finally upgraded me to the M17x. I was VERY happy with the M17x, but guess what! Problems with this one - latency with the nVidia card and the motherboard caused TERRIBLE stutter, even playing basic MP3s. But only the nVidia cards. A few people tried doing ATi 4870s instead and it worked just fine. So I had mine switched out, too. It's still a great laptop, but it's just outclassed now by something that came out a year later. So it's on backup duty.
