Also, I seem to be losing each and every gunfight against an opponent when we're both facing and shooting at each other at the same time. There are even times when I'll start shooting an enemy that hasn't even seen me, I'll put a few bursts of rounds in them, they'll turn around and take me out in what appears to be one or two rounds. I clearly experienced these two instances last night on several occasions. That's why I got so frustrated and called it a night.

Could it be the weapons I'm using are weaker than the ones they are using? Could it be my connection? I'm not hard wired. My router is on the other end of the house so I'm depending on wifi from about 30 feet away. I'm not getting 4 bars, but it's still 2 or 3 bars. Could this be the reason I struggle so much with shooters?

Since I'm going to be home for the next week or so, I'm going to try to work on improving my xbox/router setup to see if it makes a positive difference or to see if indeed I just truly suck.

I ALWAYS get worked when I'm playing w/ new guns. It's not you or anything like that, it happens to most of us. My principle is simply this: Rate of fire is KING(not damage). I use the highest ROF in any class(except sniping) w/ the grip and silencer to reduce the recoil.
Assault: FAMAS
Engineer: MP7
Support: M249
Try it and you'll see(all things being equal) you'll win a lot of one-on-one confrontations when they're using a lower ROF gun. You can see the gun specs at http://denkirson.xanga.com/756891604/bf3/ or http://symthic.com/ If I'm not trying to upgrade a weapon, I ALWAYS use a FAMAS w/ grip/silencer. It's got the highest ROF of ANY weapon in the game(including bullet velocity), and the range is very good.

I'm with you on this one. I don't have the mp7 to try so I use the a-91 as an engineer, but I stick with the highest rof also.

I think the famas is far and away the best gun in the game. I don't lose many one on one battles, even if the other guy shoots first.

The weapons I've been using the most (pre-patch) have been the UMP and the M249 with the IRNV scope. Since Karkand has been released, I've been using the Famas (Assignment unlock) which has been working out ok for me.

The UMP has been suddenly giving me recoil problems and it seems to not be effective when engaging enemies from a distance. I was doing well with the M249 but with the IRNV scope nerf, it really has made the weapon useless to me. I still haven't unlocked the USAS yet but I'm eager to try it out since it seems pretty popular as I'm always getting torn to pieces by it.

No doubt my playstyle could use some tweaking but ultimately, I think my connection is really the culprit here.

BTW, thanks for the feedback everyone. I discussed some of my frustrations today and instead of being pushed aside, everyone offered a helping hand. This community is extremely special and one I'm proud to be a part of. You guys rock! Thanks again and Happy Holidays to everyone here @ AVS!

How is the A-91 accuracy-wise? I've recently started using the G36c and am enjoying it. Used the UMP before but got tired of losing too many 1-v-1 battles...

Personally, I prefer the G36C, but I won't say that the A-91 is too far behind. If it means anything to you, my #1 most used gun is the G36C (365 kills, 18.8% accuracy) and my #2 is the A-91 (187 kills, 15.6% accuracy). I use the same setup for both guns - holographic sight, foregrip, and suppressor.

My favorite gun to use right now is the .44 Magnum. I only have 6 kills with it now, but I love the way it sounds and the way it actually feels heavy. It's pretty nice because if you injure the enemy, you can probably kill him with a single magnum round.

I miss you guys. I've been playing it on PC and it's not even close to BC2.

I guess I'll be buying it for the xbox

Accuracy is very good on the A-91 and it is also effective at mid to long-range.

I'm a stat freak. After a long evaluation of the 2 sites that show the gun specs, the A-91 comes up tops(as far as SMG's w/ medium range). It's slightly smaller zoom spread coupled w/ it's ROF is unmatched according to the charts. For the short range SMG's, MP7 w/ extended clip and laser.

Merry Christmas to all.

Also, a personal apology to those that I chewed out last night for being "too timid" with the tanks. I've got to realize that not everyone uses them as the ultimate in aggressive flag-capturing/team-shielding/enemy-crushing devices and that we all have different styles of play. I'm sure that I've pissed off a few people in my day as well...though it's doubtful that I'll ever stop being super-agro when it comes to taking flags/M-COMS if I have a vehicle. I've played in too many random matches that it's difficult to "unthink" that I have to do it all by myself.

Anyway, I'll try my best to lighten up and please let me know if you're ever offended right away. I'd rather get things out in the open and move forward than let hard feelings linger.

All good! Though I wasnt on the receiving end. There is definitely a difference playing in a squad vs playing with randoms. Aggression with randoms can move things forward when they hang back.

Like when I kept ramming that tank on Tehran that refused to move up?

And I don't mind Spyder. As long as he isn't crashing into me

Bah! Little bit of bumper cars is fun.

Are you guys experiencing quite a bit of screen tearing? I played yesterday for the first time and the tearing bothered my eyes, especially when I scanned left/right/up/down quickly. I have my 360 connected to my Panasonic 720p 429UK plasma via the official MS VGA cable.

When I played the beta I noticed some tearing, but it wasn't that bad. At the time I had my 360 hooked up via component so I'll try that again to see if it helps.

I completely understand the frustration that you can experience playing with randoms. I was raging pretty hard last evening at randoms for the same stupid stuff. I didn't take it personally because I realized that it was just general frustration with randoms and you had no clue how I played a tank. In your defense though, you were shooting that tank on Tehran Highway and I had no clue it was even there. I was a bit clueless at that point. After you got out, I moved up to B and got exploded. No hard feelings.

Spyder696969...killing Zath more frequently than the enemy!

I still blame that last one on you though. Look at it this way...if we're constantly crashing into each other, we must think incredibly alike. Still, it's hard to believe that 2 planes could occupy the same space (on both the X AND Y axis, no less) at once so often!

Don't forget the Z axis!

Yeah, I agree we definitely think alike. Except when I'm driving a tank!

Hope to be on tonight, but... watching the Bears/Packers game right now. Not sure if I'll fit in a few rounds

I'm not sure ROF is king. I did just ad well with a 650 RPM AK-74M as I do with a 1000 RPM FAMAS. For me it's more about how the gun "feels" than anything. FAMAS is good no doubt but only marginally moreso than the other rifles. M16A3 is still king to me.

Merry Christmas to you Maverick.

There's certainly exceptions to every rule. However, most interactions w/ gun play are relatively close, eliminating the need the superior accuracy like the M16 has. I must admit that the M16 for an assault rifle is amazing on the longer engagements, even at full auto fire!

Agreed. Any face to face battle isn't going to comedown to ROF, 99.9% of the time it comes down to who starts shooting first. Past that a majority of firefights are at least mid-range, up close and personal. If most were up close everyone would just be using shottys. I've tried several of the others (currently the l85a2) and the m16 is still my beast.

finished all my assignments and back to 100% achievements for this game aww yeah... was fun doing the support one going for the 100 kills was running it on maps I normally dont its nice to have C4 handy

kabob you said it best it really comes to down to the feel of the gun since they're all pretty much balanced (on the class level)
