Started off the night with a little reunion, finally got to play a few rounds with Zath and Link, good to see you guys again!

Ended the night with an epic game as defenders on Noshahr Canals. At that point I believe the crew was Duke, Revel1911, hksvr4, VernalKarma, bullshark316, and myself. The other team was definitely working together, and they pushed us hard all the way to the last base. It ended in true nail-biting fashion, as both A and B were lit as the attackers ran out of tickets. Someone (don't know who) was able to disarm B to pull out the W. I owe a personal thanks to Vernal for doing such an awesome job painting the enemy helo's with his SOFLAM, I think I had 14 kills with the javelin thanks to him. Also have to thank HK and Revel for keeping the ammo coming, and the whole crew in general for doing such a fantastic job communicating! Below is the battle report:

That must have been right after I left. I saw canals came up as I was logging off. My last game was Davamand defense. We rolled through the attacking portion with a pretty quick win, and it was maybe a 15 minute game? Was going to call it a night then but decided to defend as well. Ended up being a very good game. They ended up winning but it lasted 30 minutes. All the AVS guys had at least 20 kills on the final scoreboard.

Was fun playing Rush again. I still haven't played Rush with AVSrs on the new maps which is sad cause Karkand is an Awesome Rush map.

Good game for sure. I died alot, like usual. Connection issues and xbox locked up. Anyway, it was an epic game. On the last set of Mcoms, I was on "B" the whole time. C4 on "B" and taking out the person who armed. They were dropping people off by the water and I managed to get a few kills there. I had so many resupply ribbons. I think it was down to 6 tickets where they armed both crates at once. At this point there were zero tickets left. I think Revel disarmed one crate and the game ended when the other crate blew up. It was insane.

lol lucky for me she knows the regular's names pretty well

should be able to get on tonight. btw saw this posted by demize99 on reddit today about the ECM I know there was some discussion recently:
Quote:
The ECM also actually distracts the missile by setting a random point in a radius around the vehicle to fool the missile into going there instead of at the missile. In some extremely bad luck situations, that point could theoretically leave your helicopter between the missile and the chaff cloud, thus the missile would still hit.

Basically, ECM is not supposed to be 100% against an incoming missile, it's more about preventing the lock in the first place. Hopefully this should be more clear in the future.

Same for my wife. She was happy to see R A Z O R pop up.

haha good.. I may be on late.

Yea thats how I usually try and use it also. I try to plan my ECM drop to where it will be between the source of the lock and myself. If I can't I will drop it and then try and stay in the general area where its at. If you are flying across the map and start to get locked don't just automatically drop them right away. Let the lock tone beep a few times, then drop them. It gives you more time to either find the lock or get away from it.

I'll try to join you regulars tonight. Last night both AVS parties of 8 were full - amazing to see 16 people all playing at the same time. Very cool stuff.

Just get into the game first, then the party. The party ebbs and flows all night with people coming/going.

My basic plan is

1. Get in game
2. Get on correct side
2B. Get in Party
3. Get in an AVS squad

Once you get to 2, its fun no matter what. If you have AVS stacked against you it can be frustrating sometimes. Last night, I joined and was against Zath and crew and we actually beat them. Next game I was able to switch over.

Ya getting on a team opposite of Zath and the crew pretty much sucks the whole time LOL! Last time it happened to me I quit after one round cause it seemed like I couldn't move 10 feet before getting mowed down by a damn jet

Yeah, I will usually give it at least 1 game to try and switch, If I can't and its a jet map and I see we have no competent jet pilot to at least "contain" him some, I will leave. I'd rather play with randoms then get my a$$ crushed by an AVS team.

This is the trick to get to play as much as you want! Mine knows a few from the AVS crew and even asks if I am playing with Kabob when some random A-Hole takes the chopper LOL!

It can be fun going against the group. Like the times I tried C4ing Zath on Seine and he kept wondering where I kept coming from. Or the time I did C4 him with a smash and bail Amtrak. Or the other night shooting down some of our crew in a chopper after they raped my tank a few times.

My favorite anti AVS match so far was snake piloting the chopper against us. That was amazing from how long it took to swat him down and the amount of cursing a few of our team was letting out all while he was quietly listening on game chat. All the while I know it's him but some of the others didn't.

There's been a few times I've joined against and helped a random group dig one out or save some face. If you want to learn tactics and how to improve, play against the collective some time. Especially when your side is losing.

The other night we got split pretty evenly so there were AVSrs on each side, but if its 1 on 8 I'll pass if I can't switch over fairly quickly unless my team of randoms is decent.

I just played more co-op with some randoms. I am convinced the Drop Em Like Liquid is impossible with randoms due to the lack of communication. He shot without me knowing and then all of the hostages were killed and it was game over.

Figures. The night I decide to play around with some demos.

Yeah it's one the hardest co-op missions since its so easy to fail at middle and end part when you get to the embassy and you need to redo the entire mission. If you don't care about the achievement (Bullseye) its not that bad, but if you decide to go for it I think it's the hardest one in the last 3 battlefield games on xbox.

But yeah even just trying to beat it you definitely need to communicate with your co-op partner to pass the mission...

Just a random thought/tip for newer players: on maps that feature the AAV-7A1 AMTRAC, always utilize it on offense, and always focus on taking it out on defense!!

That thing is a monster...it can take a great deal of damage, it's pretty awesome against both infantry and armor (imho, don't ever use the machine gun, just stick to the regular rounds), and it serves as a mobile spawn point for your entire team.

I don't know how many times I end up seeing the AMTRAC just gathering dust at the attackers spawn, when it can easily give your team the edge needed to take out heavily defended MCOM's.

If you are driving the AMTRAC, keep in mind that it's almost impossible for your gunner to hit anything while you are moving around, as the turret moves way too slow to keep up with erratic driving. If you are in a hot spot as the driver, just try to sit still while your gunner cleans up the area. Even the slightest movements right or left will render your gunner completely ineffective.

On defense, if you see the attackers bringing up their AMTRAC close to the base, do everything you can to take it out! I believe it takes at least 4 packs of C4 to destroy it, so keep that in mind. I actually find it's pretty easy to get up close and personal with the repair torch, as the enemy doesn't usually realize what's happening until too late. Even if it is just sitting there not actively firing, remember that the enemy team can and will keep spawning in it until it is destroyed.

Fun games tonight, see you all tomorrow!
Amtrak is my favorite toy. Most people hate it cuz its slow but it is a monster. Can usually slam it right on am MCOM and take it through overwhelming aggression.
When the game was fairly new, the AMTRAC was the only answer to the Tunguska on Noshahr Canals Rush. If you had a driver and gunner working in sync, you could easily take it out every time.

Now that more people run javelins, soflams, laser designators and guided missiles on the little bird, the AMTRAC is sometimes forgotten.

Hey do you guys have the Metal Gear Solid HD pack? My wife came home with both PS3 and XBOX versions the other night because she didn't know which one I'd want. I don't really know, either! PS3 has pressure sensitive controls, which I know are good to have. But the xbox has co-op modes.

I could use some advice!
Hold on doesn't the PS3 version come with the first MGS game -- if that's the case I'd definitely go with that otherwise I don't think it would be much of a difference.
Lowgn, you're right. Thanks! I had to do a lot of searching to verify this - but apparently the PS3 version gets a code to download the original MGS from PSN. Not remastered, but might be nice. It also allows you to transfer Peace Walker saves between PSP and PS3. Cool, but I kinda want to restart the whole game anyway.

The xbox version has avatar items. Though co-op might be nice over XBL. Ugh, so difficult to decide!

edit - screw it, going with PS3 version!
you have to play MGS on PS3!!!
Good marathon today with lowgn, kilmore, mph, snow & shmoopy (momentarily =P)..
We were at 20+ wins in a row when I stopped. Lowgn had a huge game gunning in the viper, around 40-1 (the 1 being a jet ram) on wake that included coming from behind with the score at 20-80 and wiping the other team out.
Yeah great games guys, haven't done a marathon like that in a while. Best winning streak and yeah that round was epic will not forget that one.
Damn wish I didn't miss it. Oh well. Getting addicted to Empire Total War again. 'Tis a horrible thing
