Ya dunno about tonight, BBall. Will def be on usual time tommorow. Expect to see you and kilmore

the patch/DLC approval process still irritates me to no end
and still don't agree with being spawn protected while looking around. That wont be abused at all.. =\\
post #8073 of 14542
I don't like the spawn protection at all either - maybe if you spawn in the base, but if you spawn out in the open, should be fair game. I don't get my bullets auto-reloaded that I lose shooting at a sponge.

I'll try to make an appearance tomorrow as well. I see a lazy weekend in my future.

Spring break for one week. Might start playing BF3 again...

They wouldn't stagger the patch release like they do content packs between PS3 and xbox... would they? The patch is a "fix". Hardly see why PS3 would deserve first dibs on that.

Better for them to get the headache if it doesn't work right, imo. Probably part of the agreement.

Maybe, but I would argue a patch shouldn't fall under that agreement.

BTW, anyone else want more transport helicopters on more maps? One my favorite features on BC2 and it's so limited on BF3.

It shouldn't really.

Aren't we always what holds these things up? MS is just slow with certification it seems.

Game publishers *PAY* M$ a fee to push updates.
Everytime they patch, drop DLC, or push anything for a game M$ charges a fee. That's another reason why the Xbox Division is the most profitable div. at M$.

I've begun to hate BF3

Reason #1: I joined some of you guys today (joined party too) and am thrown on the wrong team, 3 matches later I am able to switch teams. One match later I am kicked to the other team WTF!!!!!!

Reason #2: I have 93 hits with the SV98, I have 29 kills. I like to play Assault Recon (close quarters iron sights) I've hit so many people at less than 10 yards and not killed them with a SNIPER RIFLE it is so frustrating. BC2 was infinitely better in this regard.

Reason #3: on some maps with vehicles (and some without) if the other team gets the upper hand you might as well just rage quit. It is impossibly difficult to sneak behind the team to arm an objective if the other team is any sort of good. And why have locking rockets if the rocket reload time exactly matches the flare reload time AND EVERYONE RUNS FLARES. Not to mention a rocket hit doesn't kill the chopper.

I LUV the new servers...

Also I finally got the Heat Seeking missles for JETS!

Oh yeah, this game can be frustrating for sure. The other day I wasn't on long at all. I was playing with Atlienz and Spyder. I completely rage shutdown the xbox entirely.

With the new patch seemingly dropping any day now, it's probably not worth offering any tips. We will all see how it changes things shortly.

BTW, last night my xbox froze. The old pressing too many buttons while in the respawn screen. I had hit select, looking at the score, and then tried to access the customize screen. It froze. By the time I logged back in you and Nexus were done for the night.
--------------------------------------------------------
I stayed on and played some Epic Battles playlist games. Wow. Nothing but jets and choppers, over and over. It was pretty cool. It took a while, but I unlocked rocket pods and am only about 700 points away from Air Radar. All in all, it was the most time I have been in the air, and it was all in one night. Scored like 3500-4000 points total, which is a big deal for me since I still can't use my main machine guns against other jets. One problem I had with the playlist was that every map I was always on the same side no matter how many times we cycled through the playlist. So if I was russian on one map, I was always russian on that map.

Another thing. I can't stand the F35 jets. Horribly painful in my opinion. Do you guys have any tips for that thing?

What playlists have you guys been playing and what has that been like?

Reinstalling BC2 right now. Bizzump!

For those who sold their copy of BC2 or never had a chance to try it out, GameFly has it for $8.99 used with free shipping. Their used game sales are almost always awesome - pristine discs, manual and inserts included (this means all codes including VIP).

This is why I have started going back and playing other games. It gives me a much-needed break from BF3's frustrations. I enjoyed the crap out of ME3 (campaign), New Vegas DLCs, L4D 1 and 2, and some other games the past few weeks. It's been a great break. Sure, I'm barely holding on to my Global Leaderboard ranking (hovering in the 9,000s), but who cares? My attitude will be better for taking some time off.

As to the F-35s, the only thing I found that seems to really work is to learn how to hit the brakes and have the enemy fly right on by, then shoot him in the ass. Turning is horrible in those things. (They are great for Zath-types, however...they can simply hover right over the enemy base and spawnkill the crap out of everything! )

I did a drunken quit last night. Was going along pretty good, but the wife came home and I got up and started moving around and it all it at once...

Woohoo! First jet kill, took down a chopper!

Try Resident Evil ORC. Not the most well-designed 3rd person shooter I've ever played, but it's a nice change up from the monotony of BF3/MW3.

Not to advertise em, but Gamefly is sweet for taking BF breaks. Constantly rotating games makes me feel like I hardly play even though I'm on every few days.

Looks like the rent a server pricing is up. Assuming they charge the same for both the PS3 and 360. Pricing for renting your own server is $1.49 / $6.99 / $24.99 / $64.99 (for 1, 7, 30, and 90 days).

Also you can buy the bundles to unlock all items and vehicle items.

For the PS3 but I dont see them changing it for the 360

Fired up BC2 for about an hour last night - damn left and right buttons being flipped screwed with me the entire time. I surprisingly didn't miss prone, had forgot about recon mortars (Nelson Bay), got reacquainted with my trusty LMG that I never use in BF3, and finally figured out that I needed to change the chopper controls to Legacy after 300 hours playing. Played solo, but was still fun playing again - definitely need to get a nostalgia night going.

Snake - missed you on BF3 - you must have joined right when we were done. Never even saw you get on until I got that message and noticed you were playing Wake. Trail Mix and I were on for a solid few hours - I think we managed to win the majority of the games even though our random teammates were useless. Good times though.

I played one game on BC2 yesterday, but it was Vietnam. It was me versus ONE guy. Hopefully, it was just too early to get a game. Otherwise, I'll be pretty bummed. I liked BC2 more than BF3, but when I downloaded Vietnam it was love at first sight.

Lots and lots of noobs on BF3 last night. Went 26-1 in the jet...friendly jet ran into me. Got 30+ MAV kills on the Walking Dead maps. Overall, it was apretty good night.

I guess I will eventually see how the whole rent the servers thing plays out. I get the feeling that we won't be able to make it private, but I don't know. I have other questions about it, so if anyone finds more info on it, please post. (For example if someone in our platoon or whatever rents a server, does everyone in our platoon have access to it at any time?) I have other questions as well.

I think the ability to purchase the unlocks is funny. I mean I sort of see the point for new guys. I hope they aren't looking to charge an arm and a leg for it though, for the new guys' sake. I would hate to have to face the option of just saying, ef it, I'm just going to buy all the unlocks...LOL.

In that link emartins posted above, I was reading some of the comments people made and one guy's comment had me laughing. He said, "...next thing you know we’ll need to buy ammo and med packs..." Hilarious!

Also it mentioned a mini patch for Back to Karkand maps for PS3 had already came out on March 13 where they needed to redownload the B2K update. I guess that doesn't pertain to us xboxers?
Ya, wtf harp. Lol it's all good, and yes your team sucked =(.

mph-
I'd wouldn't be too surprised if private matches were allowed.
By access to your server do you mean admin rights? I'm betting all customizations/admin commands will be done via PC so anyone that you give a username/pw to will be allowed to log in and make changes/kicks/bans.
If by access you mean just being on the server well as long as it isn't private anyone can join and play.
Basically one person would set the payment up. Depending on how EA accepts payments it will either be one admin paying the bill and everyone donating to him, or they allow for paypal donations directly to the server's account. Either way there will still be one "master" admin that would have to give out the pw. This should only be done to those who donate. There can be different levels of admin rights depending on how much they donate.

I just wish they would implement map vote.

I'm not too worried about them letting people pay for unlocks. If it was offered from the beginning I still wouldn't have and probably would have ranked up just as quickly. Air vehicles would be the only ones that would really take longer.
MPH - I'm fairly certain you can make the rented servers private, which most likely is done through password protection. I think it would be cool to do for a day here and there, but you'd need some coordination to fill it up. On the B2K PS3 issue, it causes the PS3 to randomly freeze - doesn't effect the 360.

Spyder - That sucks about 1 on 1 in Vietnam - I love it too and almost fired it up. The BC2 server I was on was only half full - I'm kind of surprised by that because I could join a BC1 game less than a year ago and it was full. Might have been luck of the draw last night?

Edit. Looks like Snake beat me to the server explanation. I'd love some map voting as well. I think I'd play Rush more if I didn't have to play the same map twice in a row too.
Yeah, honestly with the whole map server thing, I feel like this: When I get on I usually see a lot of avs'ers and their friends spread out on different servers. I just think games would be more intense and more balanced if they were all in the same server. Keeping randoms out and the teams the same or at least even for each match. I just think that would be a more enjoyable experience.

Honestly, every time I fire up the game I don't know what to expect, mainly because of all the variables in match making. Basically, I have played too many lopsided, boring games, and it is not fun. I like the really hard fought matches that seemingly last longer. Problem is, those seem to be way to few and far between.

It just seems to me the server thing could go a long way in curing that.

On another note, in looking at the past battlelog articles I had seen this one from 3/13 and was not sure if there was any talk about it, although it is pretty basic and I have seem us discuss the main points...but here's a link if you haven't seen it yet: http://blogs.battlefield.com/2012/03...lose-quarters/

I do think bf3 does a good job of exchanges in close quarters. I think the gameplay in these situations can be really good. So if the gameplay is covered then the maps have to be of the same standard, or better. I absolutely believe the new map pack can be very good. I just worry that they could get it wrong. I guess what I am saying is, I see the potential and hope it is not squandered.

In reading the 3/13 article and taking another look at it all, I am definitely looking forward to the new pack. I definitely like the idea of the intensity level that they are trying to achieve...that sounds fun.

On some off the wall, I have an idea, other note. I think these maps need elevators. Imagine if on Metro there was an elevator that always dinged and then the doors opened. You'd always have to check it, because you wouldn't know if there was anybody in there. Sometimes there would not be anybody in it, and other times people would come out blasting. Of course it would have the perfect music playing inside to allow one a pleasant escape from the chaos outside. LOL. (Someone needs to invite DICE to this forum.)
