Maybe in rush by tank busting jets but its a 1 in 40 chance in CQ, even with zath..

Agreed that it's silly that flares can now kick a javelin/guided shell. If that's possible why even allow them to be fired at air vehicles??

Seriously, how often do you get killed by the Transport Chopper? I think I've been killed by it maybe 2-3 times...EVER. (All suicide pilots.) All I was saying is that the Attack Choppers have an insane number of weapons to choose from, where the TC has practically nothing. The driver, in particular, has little incentive with zero weapons. If a AC can EASILY kill a tank, rape a whole ground crew, and blast an entire building to bits in one single pass with regular guns, why not spead the tiniest bit of love to the TC? Nothing against the TVM itself, but, IMO, it may have been put to better use on some other vehicle. (You said yourself that hardly anyone uses it.)

As for the MAV, I do love it. And I'm the first to admit that it's cheap as Hell. I do appreciate your (and other's) clips, and I don't mind a debate, but sometimes I do get sick of snake (and/or others) taking personal pot-shots all the time. It's one thing to attack an aspect of the game, another entirely when attacking someone's character. I have ALWAYS said that if anyone has a problem with me to address it right away. I have ALWAYS said that we can discuss it personally in a party or via private messages and I can try to adapt or see where the ohter person is coming from. I actually thought we were all friends here, but it appears that only those that share opinions are welcome.

What is with their hatred of tanks and love of air vehicles? Flares distract Javelins now (though there are reports that they're unreliable, which if true may be a saving grace glitch that will inevitably be "fixed.") You can't even target air when close to the deck, and damage against ground may have been sneakily buffed. Tanks take less damage to destroy, Javelins do more damage and the repair tool is slower. The blast radius from the main cannon is already so craptacular that you should be going for direct hits if you want to kill infantry.

I'm curious to see if tanks really have become the paper tigers most now say they are. It's a sad day for real BF veterans if that's the case. They are already effectively defenseless vs air. I get 1 shotted by jet strafing all the time.

BC2 tanks were SO much better, even without guided shell and all the perks, C4 toss ability and they still got totally dominated by choppers. Weren't chopper whores the problem on BC2 DICE? Wasn't air power the problem? What did you learn DICE? Nothing. You complete morons.

I'm not really sure what you mean by that. Could you expand? DICE have repeatedly shown they are bad at balancing this game and I could write an essay on how and why. Lest I be judged?

Ehh, if you think those are potshots well apparently your armor is thinner than the tank's.. Post patch of course.
The only thing I did was reassure him to not get bothered by your naturally pessimistic or pretentious tone. You wouldn't agree that most of your posts are slanted this way?

Nope not at all..

I have no problem with you at all. I've told you before and I'll tell you again, I have no reason to care what someone on an internet gamers dating site thinks. Go ahead and drop the drama queen now and get back to bf3.

Moving on...
You of all people who use the USAS and frag rounds more than anyone on these forums would honestly gather the nerve to say that TV guided missiles are cheap?
I still can't hit a dang thing with the tv missile. I've used it maybe 5 times and I got one disable. Maybe I just need to practice with it more. It would be great if the transport chopper had a forward facing gun like the scouts. I would even be happy if it had the same gun as the buggies, at least it would be halfway fun for the pilot. Although if you have decent air support on your team it's a pretty good flag capper with a full crew. I think snake mentioned this tactic before.

I don't think I've even unlocked it yet!

Problem I have with the TC is that the pilot has to decide which gunner he wants to do the majority of the shooting or swap back and forth between sides, not to mention that he can't see the target directly.

Wait. Scratch that. That's pessimistic as ever. The Transport Chopper is the greatest thing in the history of all mankind. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and sometimes sparkly rainbows shoot out my ass just thinking about how great it is. I'm a positive person after all!
Spyder, I'm just messing with you earlier. I enjoy strong opinions.

Personally I'm not so sure how I feel on the transport chopper. Part of me thinks it is, well, kind of funny. It is pretty risky running around with 5 people in it, but honestly when you have two people repairing it, I'm not sure there is a stronger vehicle.

My team was spawncamped today by one. Right at the beginning of the match. It was so unusual for one to go straight to our spawn right from the beginning of the match causing complete chaos on our side.

I admit the pilot is pretty much flying blind, which is weird.

It can inflict serious damage on other air vehicles though. I'm surprised how easy it is to take out an attack chopper with one, at times.

I think I like the thing though, because it's like a party bus. That and it is very unsuspecting and tough.
Harp, I have no doubt your issues with the new patch are real. As far as tanks go, post patch, I feel it seems unnecessary. Of course I am just waiting to see how everything plays out. But for the record, to me, it seems tanks are getting the shaft. Idk though, we'll see.
interesting, no PC you can buy all the unlocks!!

Patch notes that weren't in the patch notes. Almost all positive, or insufficiently irritating to rant about:

http://mp1st.com/2012/03/28/a-list-o...3-patch-notes/

I just realised because of the medal/ribbon requirement changes that I'll get at least 50,000 points in my first post-patch round. Mwahahaha.
I think TV Missile is my next unlock in the attack chopper. I watched Doom49's video with him as a gunner and he preferred using that over the guided missile. Based on what I saw in the video you have to lead it slightly because the camera lags behind a bit. I can't wait to try it. I'm already liking being the pilot more now that I've unlocked ECM, that makes a giant difference.
On another note I'm going to be disappointed if they nerfed the tanks even further than the first patch. I don't mind slight changes to balance here and there but nerfing them any further is going to severely impact the game (good or bad is an opinion of course). The fact that JAV's, RPG's, and air vehicles now do more damage to them ON TOP of the repair tool repairing slower equals HUGE change in my opinion.

I'm also disappointed that I didn't get to abuse the USAS with frags for longer than like a week, but man that was nice dominating with them. Don't know if I've ever been a part of anything more OP in any game I've played based on shooting realistic guns.

YAH for CITV red laser
YAH for vehicle respawn time
YAH for Havoc
Yah for Horn<<-- another yah.

hmm longer revive period??

O interesting.. So if there is less than 8 people basically you can play forever without the game actually starting?

I hope matchmaking works well.

!!!! 1000 ticket servers on console!! Awesome. But they are going to take a week before they are really up and running.. Yeah right.. maybe in a month.. Very surprised you have the ability to manage them in game. I wonder if that means you can't do it online via a server manager? Which also definitely means there are no kicks. klHJLAFJLKJFLADKSJL:Ka

atlienz-- Also remember he plays on PC, that makes the TV missile about 20x easier than console. It's alot of fun to use though when you have a pilot that gives you chances with it.

Put in some more time last night and bounced around servers. Not as sour as I once was, though tanks seem entirely inconsistent - now I see why there are mixed reactions. Same experience as the past few days in a couple games, and then in a couple others we managed to keep the tank going for a few minutes. I will say that the games the tank lasted in, we weren't constantly being locked on by jets, choppers, or javelins. Repair tool is what really kills it - should have been one change or the other.

One thing that really grinds my gears is being killed by a jet in the jeep. This has happend a handful of times over the past couple days. In addition to that, I've been javelin'd same amount of times in a jeep. No warning, just boom. Javelin range is way too large.

Few tips from what I've learned:
  • SOFLAM and Javelin is the new tank guided shell for choppers. Took out a few last night with it.
  • Flash Suppressor puts guns back to how they were pre-patch - recoil wise.
  • Squad Cover - Someone needs to use this to bring it back to pre-patch. If not, you'll be suppressed for multiple seconds in every battle.
  • M1014 feels like a whole new shotgun. Gun is bad ass.
  • Stinger range sucks, but it's a 1 hit disable - usually resulting in a kill (took one down out of the transport chopper).
  • Run the Javelin as an engineer. Only use the stinger if you can spawn on a flag that a chopper is hovering over. RPG's if you plan on taking out infantry.

Couple others that I can't think of right now. But for infantry, can't say it enough - squad cover and use a flash suppressor where available.

Snake - saw a 24/7 Metro server last night and a 1000 ticket server. And yes, you spawn immediately into games now - no countdown - no suiciding to get closer to the chopper.

If the gang gets back to playing regularly again, I'll fund a server rental for a week and we can experiment. We can make it public or private for the nights where not enough people are available to fill it up.

What are your thoughts on the shortcut packs being released. It seemed like a quick cash grab for EA, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense for the casual gamer that wants the FULL experience of BF3.

I currently have 94 hours into the multiplayer, that is almost 4 full days....

I have only unlocked everything (service star) for, support, assault, and engineer. It will probably take me 94 more hours to unlock all the vehicle goodies and recon service star..... I consider myself an average BF3 player....

Seems like the unlock packs would be a nice way for someone that does not have that kind of time to get to experience the TV missiles, or laser painter, or MAV, or USAS without having to spent 4-5 days of there life trying to unlock them, after all, we all paid $40-60 for the content.....why not be able to enjoy it?

I just wish we didn't have to pay more for it, that's the lame part. Maybe they could have an option to unlock packs for free, but if you use the unlock, the points earned while using those unlocks don't count to your game score.......

I'm in. 1,000 tickets on Caspian? Hell yeah!
I despise Caspian Border unless I can get a vehicle of some kind, worst infantry map ever.
I'm going to start crashing your parties so I can get into some games that are half-way enjoyable.

I'm getting exhausted of joining teams where 5 guys are drawing curse words on walls with their torches, or we can't leave our base because we're getting strafed over and over again, or I'm on a team of 6 vs. 12.

So - be prepared for quiet ol' skullface to hop in your party and do my best to help win the battle as a teammate.

Yeah, if I have a chopper or jet or tank this map is one of my faves, but I absolutely can't stand the infantry aspect of it. Probably the biggest reason is at least 4 people from each side are usually in the air (conquest is all I play mostly) leaving it 8 vs 8 IF the match is full. Map is way to big for 8 vs 8 IMO. Worse case scenario, which I've seen before is 4 on each side in the air, and both sides with both tanks with 3 each in them leaving 2 vs 2 on the ground. Wish those two from each side would have gotten into a jeep and there wouldn't be a single person walking around!!

It's the perfect map handicapped by the limitations of 24 person servers. It's stil my favorite map whether in a vehicle or on foot, but it's missing out on so much potential.

For sure on that, all of the youtube videos showing PC makes me really feel like console players are missing out on the best parts of this game because of the player limitation. I watched a video of Kharg island with a full PC room and man that map looked insanely fun.

Caspian would be a killer map with more players as well.

IMO the FAMAS is way more OP than the USAS with or without frag rounds. Yes it's stupid that the frag rounds have such crazy range, but IMO they are decently hard to use (aiming), kind of buggy in how (and when) they register hits, and just plain aren't that good overall compared to some of the other guns, like the FAMAS. The FAMAS easily beats frag rounds in close range (at least I do regularly with it), and is faster and more accurate to kill with at longer ranges IME. Though I guess it all comes down to how well you can aim (both weapons). One, maybe two quick bursts to the upper body and head at range with the famas is a kill, no trying to estimate drop off, wait for recoil, hope the target doesn't move while you try to hit them multiple times (ie with frag rounds), etc. Quick, clean, simple, effective.

I think it's fun/funny to shoot stuff up with frag rounds on the USAS, and there is no question they are effective, but I never got the feeling from being killed with them, or using them, that they are terribly overpowered. Stupid that the rounds go as far as they do, yes, but not terribly overpowered. Just me I guess.

On another note, if they made the USAS as effective in the game as it is in real life, it would be 10x better than the (arguably OP) way it is now, and no one would use anything else except maybe sniper rifles for super long range effectiveness. By all counts, it is a real beast in real life, but of course that wouldn't translate to a balanced game if that's how they implemented it.
