Amplifier repair?

Thread Starter
I believe I have a problem with the power supply in my old ATI 1506 amp. I talked to a tech at Jensen Transformers and he believes this is the likely cause of the buzz coming from my right front channel. In fact, he is almost certain of it. I live in the Atlanta, GA area. How does one go about finding a repair shop for an amplifier? And if the power supply needs to be replaced in one of the channels, about what would a repair like this cost?

Why not ask ATI who can look into it in your area?

Only one channel? Unless it has dual supplies, that ain't it...

You might try Deoxit

You may be able to get it at Radio Shack.

Also, if you have a slider control that changes the balance between the L/R speakers you might move it back-and-forth 50-60 times to eliminate some of the oxidation on it. Try the less expensive things first.

For an amplifier repair, you really want to go somewhere that ATI recommends. If it is out of town, you will also pay to-and-from shipping in addition to a potential $300+ repair. Also, you need to check how long they guarantee the repair. Many local shops only guarantee 30-90 days.
