Samsung PN58C8000 and BD-C5900 combo viewing question

Hello all,
I purchased the above combo on Black Friday 3 or so months ago. It also came with a set of 3D glasses. I've plugged the BD Player into HDMI port #2 via HDMI. As soon as I turn on the BD Player (C5900) the TV automagically goes to Anynet+ and cycles thru a number of resolution settings. I think it settles in on 1080p but I can't be sure. When I go to TV settings (after its settled in), everything says "auto" or "Anynet+". I have not made any changes to the TV or BD defaults since bringing them home from the store. So here are my three questions:
1. Is Anynet+ helping me or hurting me?
2. Assuming I'm running a BD movie, is it automatically setting itself to 1080p?
3. With BD movies, I can't get anything other than 2.35:1 on the screen. Is there a setting to make it 16:9? I realize I can adjust the picture size on the remote, is that my only option?

Thanks.

I've never heard of Anynet+, so I just looked it up:
"Anynet+ is a function that operates through HDMI 1.3 jacks and lets you control up to twelve Samsung devices with your Samsung TV remote, with up to three of those devices being of the same type (for example, three DVD players). Anynet+ can only be used with Samsung devices that have the Anynet+ feature. To be sure a Samsung device has the Anynet+ feature, look for the Anynet+ logo on the device."

...Anynet+ sounds pretty lame, and seems to be wasting a lot of your time, and appears to have nothing to do with choosing the correct output resolution, it just seems to sync-Samsung products together so they can communicate w/eachother.

I don't know what options are available on the BD-C5900, but I suggest you take a look at its user manual and find out how to disable it. ...Then again maybe the TV has the Anynet+ feature, I really don't know, since I don't own any recent Sammy products.

Either way Anynet+ sounds like a feature you don't need. ...And regarding the 2.35:1 ratio, that's probably the BD-C5900's job, so you might want to look at the manual again for that.

Hopefully someone else can chime in with better info...

Disable Anynet and manually calibrate your inputs. The preset Anynet settings won't get you the best picture.

Does anyone know how to disable it? I gotta think there are a bunch of people here who have run into this problem seeing how popular the Sammy line is here. I can't find anything on Anynet+ in either manual.

Are you talking about Anynet+ or BD Wise? BD Wise is supposed to get you the best settings, but they are overcooked and too blue. I thought Anynet+ was just supposed to allow for a shared internet connection, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to work.

You can disable it in the settings in the 5900. There may also be settings in the TV itself. You should really read the manual.
