In early February I stopped by a 'local' (20 miles away) HT store and they have a room with the potential of 3 projectors playing at the same time.
I was hoping to view LCD, LCOS and DLP all in the same room.
When we were there on Christmas eve, the DLP (Runco LS-3) had a dead lamp, so we got to see the JVC (can't remember model) at 2.35:1 and an Epson 9350.
During the February visit, the runco LS-3 was running with the Epson 9350, but the JVC had been sold and their replacement wasn't in yet.
However, watching about 20 minutes of "How To Train Your Dragon", if I was ready to buy a projector, I would have spent the extra coin for the Runco. Colors were brilliant, picture was crisp, clear, and i finally found out what people mean by the DLP 'pop'. It almost looked like 3D.
The only other DLP I had seen before that was an Optoma HD20 which a friend has and I was less than impressed.
I have yet to return to see the latest JVC they now have running to do a comparison between all 3 technologies.
We have moved the date for our own upgrade from our 720p Yamaha LPX-510 back to early to mid 2012, so there is no big rush for me to get all excited about something that 1) I can't get yet, and 2) may be obsolete by then.
But for my money the LS-3 completely destroyed the Epson 9350.
