Do we need to go back 85 million yrs to do that?
How about 10,000 or so, just back to the last Ice Age maybe? That covers most of the start of modern civilization.
Isn't this show just an excuse for Spielberg to re-do Jurassic Park? That's my take, because even as SF, logically, it makes no sense to go back to the Cretaceous period. Mammals were barely making a dent then except as food
No, anyway you cut it, this will start with a bang, then where do you go from there? How do you keep an audience interested in weekly dino-fights, the tedious humdrum of survival & trying to build a civilization from nothing. No factories, no ore, no mining, no agriculture, what energy source (fusion?). Unless they bring all that technology with them & start building cities from the gitgo with fortified perimeters to keep dino out. And if they bring an energy source with them, say fusion, then they know how to build bad things, like nuclear weapons and we're right back to where we started - planning our own demise (I'm a pessimist
) They'll need missiles & nukes to deal with the asteroid that's coming to the Yucatan 20 million yrs later anyway
Or boom....right where we started with mass extinction. Or maybe they'll do it with targeted anti-grav or anti-particle beams. But if we can create technology with energy of that magnitude, what change in human nature is going to stop us from using them in wars....uh oh, another mass extinction event
How about going back in time to AFTER the asteroid hits and does the dirty work for us, before we get there?
The more I write, the more stupid the whole premise seems to me, even for SF.
Weekly soap or cheesy effects, either way, I vote it will be canceled before the 1st season ends. Again, I'll give the pilot and 1st few episodes a shot, but if it turns out to be Son of Seaquest, I'm gone.
