X-Men: First Class

Thread Starter
Official trailer has been released.

Although I'm cautious based on the last 2 X-Men movies (X-Men 3 and Wolverine), this does look decent thus far.

I believe there was a thread on this already.

Regardless, that is a GREAT trailer. Definitely on my in-the-theater list for the summer (which is growing fast!!).

Fassbender- hell yes! Jennifer Lawrence - oh yes! Chick from Get Him to the Greek - yes please!

Day one rental!

The best Xmen movie so far was the leaked Wolverine with the unfinished editing and buggered CGI. Pure entertainment.

I definitley give it a rent when it comes out, Im kinda over the Xmen.
First I heard of this. Hope it turns out well.

Two additional things have me excited for this film (besides the cast and that trailer).. the fact that it was co-written and produced by Bryan Singer who directed the first (and best) two X-men films; and that it's directed by Matthew Vaughn (of L4yer Cake and Kick-Ass fame).

Looks decent enough.

Day 28 rental!

Wasn't that the final movie, as well?

Ha! Good one.

Hey, I don't like to do this often, but I made a parody of the X-Men: First Class trailer, and I would really appreciate some feedback on it. Thanks!

Had no idea they were so involved in the Cuban missle crisis. They [Singer & Vaughn] are already thinking of a shagadelic sequel set in 68. Looks like a cool summer.

Full theatrical trailer released:

Meh....it looks ok. I'm hoping there is a lot more beyond that trailer, as I saw nothing that blew me away. I guess I'll see opening weekend, cause of course I'll be there.

Some positive reviews coming in. If that review is to be believed, then it's more character driven than action oriented. 100% at Rotten Tomatoes so far, but top critics haven't spoken yet.
i wish superhero movies would stop using the same damn villains over and over and over again...we only get these movies once every few years so give us something new

xmen - magneto
spiderman - osborne
superman - luthor

come on already.

It will still fall in the $1.50 rental for me sdurani.
I'm even contemplating getting rid of my Xmen trilogy and wolverine.

Mutants do something to annoy you?

I only have the first two, that too on DVD (X-Men "1.5" and X-Men 2, in a nifty slipcase). Didn't like the third one nor Wolverine enough to buy them.

First Class looks like it has elements I would like: origin story, character driven, a bit of James Bond/Mad Men feel, etc. Definitely big screen for me.

And maybe a dash of KICK-ASS? Not an X fan (both comics and films), so I'm gonna wait for feedback from legit critics (as opposed to fan-sites and picked-by-Fox screenings). But I'm easily swayed!

As of today, this sits @ 92% over on Rotten Tomoatoes - so far that site's best reviewed Marvel gang of mutants flick. The wife & I will be seeing it tomorrow night, despite her disappointment at not geting to stare @ Hugh Jackman this time .
I'm seeing it tomorrow morning, looking forward to it.

Well, in the comics Magneto was the first villain they fought so it would be sort of odd they don't include him even though they basically changed everything about the origin of the group.

The X Men were introduced a year after the missile crisis but I'm sure it still irks a lot of X-Men fans that big chunks of the X-Men history has been revised for the movies.

Terrific film. Stupendously good. Blasts THOR right out of the water. As fun as X-MEN 2. Bye bye LAST STAND and suck balls WOLVERINE ORIGINS. This is how you make a superhero movie.

And no stupid ******* 3D to get in the way!

Awesome cameo by _____________ that results in a huge cheer, followed by a massive belly laugh.

o rly, Mr. Stevens?

I may go see this if you say so.

I agree it was a good flick.

I only saw Last Stand once and sort of forgot most of it but in the beginning was Charles in a wheelchair when he and Magneto went to visit Jean? I'm sure he wasn't which doesn't sync with the events in this movie. Also, it was sort of odd that they made Alex older than Scott. Of all the mutants that were around in the early X Men they should of picked someone else. Other than that it was a good movie.

And you liked Thor. Really that much better Matt?

Was going to wait till BD on this one, might reconsider now.
I have seen Thor twice and this was a much better movie.

Very very good comic book flick.

You guys who have seen the new X-Men film and extolled its virtues here have convinced me that I need to see it. I'll probably go tomorrow morning. I'll report my impressions. Fortunately it is playing at my favorite cineplex.
Let me add my voice to those heaping praise on this movie. And to address the continuity issues, as far as I can tell, it only directly contradicts The Last Stand and Wolverine, but not, y'know, the good ones. So yeah, basically this movie and the first two make a great trilogy, if you want to just ignore the last two.
The blogosphere is abuzz with praise for this film. I wish I had been able to see it today like I planned, because now I want to see it much more earnestly, lol.
