Keyboard Needed for First Time Boot up?

Just finished my HTPC and will be booting it up for the first time. I notice in the Asus P7H55-M user guide it says there will be warning beeps if no keyboard is detected. I plan on using an RF Rii wireless keyboard. It has a USB RF receiver. Will the system detect that or will I need to buy a cheap wired keyboard for this first time boot up?

Thanks

I had foxconn board a while back that required a KB/mouse to boot, but I was able to change it in the BIOS to ignore the KB/mouse and was good to go.

Hopefully all you will need is a keyboard the first time to disable in the BIOS.

My current Asrock based HTPC doesn't care at all....

Right. Probably not a bad idea to have a cheap one around anyway. I'll have to see where to disable it in the bios.

Thanks,

It depends on the keyboard, both of my RF USB keyboards work for boot.

You should be OK. I have a USB keyboard and mouse and my system finds them just fine during bootup.

I do find it hilarious that most computer BIOS systems to stop if there is not keyboard and say "keyboard error - press F1 to continue." How in the world am I supposed to hit F1 if my keyboard is not working!

Well, I guess there's only one way to find out. This weekend I'll fire it up and see what happens. If I need a keyboard I pop into Fry's and spend 10 bucks.

As of yet I can't find anything in the Asus users guide about disabling the warning beeps.

Thanks

I had a wireless keyboard once which required the BIOS to be set to legacy USB (auto would not work) in order for it to be detected in the BIOS for boot-up. That's the only time that I can think of which I had an issue and that was a few years ago. I think that most modern motherboards shouldn't have an issue with wireless keyboards.

Good to know, Thanks much. Maybe I'm good to go.
