one possible approach could be to connect the nady power sequencer/controller into a switched outlet on your receiver. then use the power coming off of that to trigger a relay for each power line. just saw this and thought it was cheap enough to be interesting.

Would he not need one per amp?? Each amp requires 20 AMP circuit alone, no??

Nice price though, Im buying one for my main speaker amps, AVR, MiniDSPs.

Thanks Scott! I think we've talked about 'em in the past. I got a smokin deal on them straight from Polk years ago. I'm hesitant to replace them, but all these JBL builds look damn tempting!

This is probably the most impressive subwoofer build I've ever seen!

HealthNut did the same thing except with slightly larger opposed cabinets

Also, Warpdrv has much nicer cabinets with dual opposed lms 18s, just 3 of them instead of 4

You should check their builds out too.

Agreed, I love this build and your lucky NotNyt to have such a great room for all that you have. I'm very jealous.

Ever since TC-Sounds regrouped so many possibilities opened up, at least for me they did.

I never thought I would have woofer envy with 2 LMS 18's, you guys are brutal

don't forget about chuck and his lms passive radiator monster with the crown itech's.

He brought in like three 220 lines to power the itechs from what I remember, may have been four.

Those are impressive as well, just not as many drivers

I have 100 amps of power on the wall with my subs I made sure I'd have enough power for any stupid future ideas when I built that part of my house a few years ago before I even conceived of doing anything this absurd. 20kw of power on tap with the four marathons =]

How are you going to be jealous with some of the nicest speakers I've ever seen? The room is great though, I love it.

I just like the LMS NEO idea as these are a bear to load if you recessed your driver, easy to wind up with black and blue finger tips dropping these beasts in.

I use stainless wire (it's actually safety wire for racing) strung through two holes on one side of the basket, and two on the other, makes a "handle" on each side. Then I use heavy leather gloves so the wire doesn't cut into my hand. Once the driver is set in place the wire is slippery enough you can just pull it out and you are set to go.

I super glue the rubber gasket to the bottom side of the frame, you can then use the rubber as a handle... works awesome...

Whoa - Thanks....
My room is always open in the daylight and I prefer it to have nice looking wood fixtures out in the open like furniture, if I was doing a basement build it would be a whole lot different - much like your setup... Only when its dark out does all the stuff in my room just fade away... Jealousy comes in the part from that full on sexy wall of goodness is seriously intimidating looking !!!! Scares the $hit out of people before they even hear it.... HAHA

"Would he not need one per amp?? Each amp requires 20 AMP circuit alone, no??"

i was thinking that it could be used to generate the signal that would then be detected by a current sensing switched outlet on each circuit.

healthnut purchased 18 lms drivers iirc. the build used eight. what happened to the other ten?

really amazing build. I am new to this DIY. I am starting with a single LMS in a 22x22x18 box. Curious what gauge speaker wire for internal/external wiring. Also, for good contact with both the 2 ohm coils and the speakon connector chassis did you solder the contacts. Did you use the standard 2 pole or 4pole neutrik speakon chassis. I bought the 4 pole as it is designed in a circular fashion to better attached to back of cabinet.

I'm not using any speakon connectors. It's a standard parts-express 4 post terminal plate. I'm using the PE 12 gauge wire, which is actually closer to 10 gauge from the amps to the enclosures. I use the same wiring inside as well, soldered onto the tabs of the terminal plate. Each driver is individually wired direct to its own amp output, with the voice coils in series.

what are you running with the marathons 20A or 30A each amp or what?
I am considering the marathons 5050,4050, QSC RMX5050,4050, crest pro8200, cc4000, crown xti6000, xls5000. I am going to rewire a couple outlets for a better supply of juice. That way I will have room to expand in future. Room is @2250cuft. 21.5'x11.5'x9'

They only have 20a fuses in them. They're plugged into 20a outlets, but they're direct feeds on 10ga wire. I can switch the breakers to 30a if necessary, but no need at the moment. They're on 20a rackmount PDUs with surge protection that trip at about 2900w according to my killawat.

They pull a lot of power =] Serious amps.

could not find warranty info on marathons website, is it stated in there product manual, could get the 4050 or 5050 for @ 1/2 the price of the QSC's - 6yr. warr. thanks

No idea on warranty either. Waiting to see how the amp I sent back will be handled.

WOW....WOW!!!!

i would be scared to be in that room.

btw, how do you guys run 4-6 subs? i mean most AVR has only 1 sub output?

My avr has 3 sub outs. I'm using two. One for each side of the room, and then chaining my amplifiers.
this raises an interesting question, what does a simple splitter change if anything?

is that worse than using the output from the amp to "daisy chain" them together?

I think it's basically the same thing. I can push my amps to clipping, so no real problem with signal levels. Splitting it should only affect current, and not voltage.

is this any different than if i run 1:2 rca splitter, or 1:4 splitter if i want to run 4 subs?
If you are running 4 subs then buy a DCX or the MiniDSP. Connect the AVR to the DCX or Minidsp then allow either of the DSPs to handle your 4 subs. Independant EQing, phase, delay controls are important to have when setting up a sub system.

does everyone using the LMS 5400 use some type of HP filter or not (is it needed since this driver can go low) either thru there amp or thru their DSP if possible

There is no need for this in a sealed enclosure. Vented/PR enclosures will require this.

New power strips (rackmount PDUs actually) and double the amps

I think I was starting to hit the limits of my mic here. I only measured from 20hz since my amps will protect at this level if I send DC.

Good lord, man. Epic SPL and extension.
