Mirage MX Bookshelf speakers

I am looking for information regarding the Mirage MX Bookshelf speakers, specifically compatibility with a Sony HT-SF470 amplifier. The amp specs list the the total power output (1kHz, 6Ohms, 10%THD) at 167 W. The Mirage site lists the MX Bookshelf spec as 10-100 watts RMS/channel and 8Ohms nominal/4Ohms minimum.

Can this work?

The small size and good sound of the Mirage speakers are the attraction but if they are not compatible then can anyone suggest a good alternative?

Thanks.

Received this from an AVS Forum member to another posting regarding the Sony amp and the Mirage speakers:

There are MAJOR compatibilities there!!!!!! It is only set up to work with its supplied speakers and subwoofers.

You are looking as a disposable or throw-out HTIB. They only can be used with the speakers that come with them and when one part breaks throw the whole thing out.

So be aware getting something that doesn't a real receiver you are pretty much committing yourself to throwing the whole system out in the future.

Any thoughts/comment?

You will be fine. I will also say that you should go for the Nanosats instead as they are only a bit bigger and sound much better than the MX.

Or even go bigger than the Nanosat.

The MX (and everything else that size) are really only for a small space, and only if you're happy to make major compromises in sound quality in order to get the small size.
