This is one I'd like to see Habey import from where the EMC-800 and EMC-600 come from:

It's the updated version of the EMC-600. It's definitely taller and I like the look quite a bit better.

It looks like Realan is coming out with new version of a few of what's being resold by Habey. I am hoping Habey resells the new models as well. Importing them myself is crazy money -- like double what you can get the current models for from Newegg or Directron.

The one pictured above is $122 with shipping to get to the US. Most of that is the shipping cost.

That is absurd.

I really like my current Habey 600, regardless of the poor ventillation (although my temps are not awful like others have reported) but some small improvements in the design and that case is the perfect price/look/functionality package out there.

The E-Q8 seems to make some small improvements (like more height) which is why I was so psyched to see it. There also seems to be new variations on the Q6 (which is the EMC-600) like USB ports. The new designs all have the front intakes removed for a cleaner look. My favorite though is that E-Q8 - basically the EMC-800 w/o a DVD opening. Perfect.

Yea I put a blu ray drive in my main HTPC and it broke....and I haven't fixed it and it's easily been about a year. That's how little I use optical disc drives.

And at work I have put together countless small pcs with out optical drives. I have a few usb dvd drives that collect dust...

Anyways, brushed aluminum sounds like a nice touch.

In the future I think for modest and small HTPC's I will continue to look at these Habey and other Mini-itx cases. Although I am also itching to get my hands on one of those streacom fanless cases...

yeah, too expensive. Better off buying one of the wesena cases from perfecthometheater.... but his shipping costs more then those cases from china lol

What would you say is a reasonable price for that case w/ shipping in the US? $89 - 99?

Current best price I've found is just under $76 shipped for the EMC-800BL which is the same size and material as the E-Q8. What I've noticed is the wholesale prices for the newer models are more than the older models. It doesn't matter though - they aren't available here, at least not for under $100. Maybe Habey will decide to carry the new model line but it didn't sound that way from their reply.

Realan (the manufacturer) also has a new "L" series of HTPC cases. They look pretty sharp.

Finally they vented the top!

I actually had an argument on the phone with the Habey guy here in the US. I told them to offer a case with a vented top and it would have sold much better for maybe a few more dollars (if that) of machine time.

That's really my only complaint with the Habey. After I used that bimetal saw to rip a hole in the case above the CPU the temps dropped by 20C or more as did the noise from the fan.

Well, I don't like the PSU plug being on the side instead of the back. But that's a very very minor gripe.

If your talking about the original habey's (trying to remember)... then I think I moved my PSU plug to one of the back holes. I think it might have been the external antenna hole.

Does anyone want to mill some of the Habey case tops for venting? I would pay an extra amount to have one.

Each case has 2 holes - one PSU and one external antenna. The 600 has them on the side (ick) and the 800 on the back.

I'll let you know after I get my 800BL . I have the right drill bits for it. I also have a CAD template for various fan openings. So ... you never know. It's just not easy to get a clean cut with a bit.

I am hoping if someway, somehow I can get my hands on the E-Q8 the extra height over the EMC-600 will address some of the cooling issues -- it's basically the size of the EMC-800 but with no ODD opening.
