Can't get 1080p@60Hz/32bpp from HTPC via Onkyo TX-SR608 to projector

If I connect the HTPC directly to the projector over the same HDMI cable, 1080p @ 60 Hz works just fine. If I go via the receiver I can only choose 16-bit colors and 25 Hz, or thereabouts. I have tried forcing it, but it just won't stick.

Xbox360 works just fine on 1080p @ 60 Hz via the receiver.

I noticed two differences on connecting directly and via receiver:

1) Using NVidia control panel, I get two lists of resolutions to choose from. PC and HD/SD. When connected directly to the projector, the 1920x1080 resolution in the PC list is marked as "(native)". If I choose this, everything works excellent - except I don't have sound, as I am bypassing the receiver.

2) When connected via the receiver, the 1080p PC resolution is no longer marked as "(native)", but the 1080p HD resolution is now marked as "(recommended)". Also, I now have an option to enable/disable audio over HDMI, which I obviously want to. Trying the same PC resolution as above, the picture is cropped on the left hand side, leaving out about 1/10th of the picture. I got the exact same behavior in both Win7 and Linux Ubuntu, with entirely different NVidia graphics driver versions (266 in Windows and 170 in Ubuntu, or something like that).

I have tried every option in the receiver menus, and setting the HDMI scaling to "direct", but no matter what I cannot get 1080p @ 60 Hz and 32-bit colors without either

1) Getting cropped picture (left side) or
2) Being forced to use 25ish Hz and 16-bit colors.

Setup:
Shuttle XS35GT HTPC (ION2 graphics chipset), Win7 x64, latest drivers
Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver
Optoma HD20 projector

Any ideas on what is going on? What else can I try?

I'm having similar issues with my GT 430 connected to my Onkyo TX-SR508... 1080p @ 60Hz just won't work. 1080i @ 60Hz works, and 1080p @ 30Hz works. So frustrating.

This worked with an older 8800GTS with a DVI->HDMI adapter...

Hi anjdreas, don't know if this will help or not but try turning video processor to off(see page 21 in OM).

I finally got around to trying this, and guess what! It worked! Thanks JChin!

I can't believe they didn't make that option default, and hid the information in a tiny section of a 75 page manual.

"For optimal video performance, THX recommends that video signals pass through the system without upconversion [...]. It is also recommended that you press VCR/DVR and RETURN on the AV receiver at the same time. Select "Skip" in the "VideoProcessor" setting by pressing RETURN repeatedly [while holding VCR/DVR button -anjdreas] on the display. [...]"

Note that you must press the buttons on the AV receiver. Using the remote control does not work for this hidden function.

Finally I can use 1920x1080 resolution with full 60 Hz and 32 bit colors!
Hope this helps anybody else with the same issue.

P.S: I tried the setup with a different computer with very different hardware. That PC also had the exact same issue so this is definitely a receiver issue.
