Someone please help me, unplugged optical cable and now it won't work?

Just a thought, did you check in the receivers setup menu to see if the 'optic' is still set to the device you want it to be?

replace the cable? I recently had one go bad from making comonent changes on my system.

+1. You may have just borken the optical fiber or connector. Try a new cable.

Try shutting everything down then power back up..if that doesn't work
time for a new cable that might have been ruined when pulled out.

Try unplugging and repligging the optical cable, and make sure it is in 100% (you should feel it click into place). My guess is that it just isn't "in" all the way. Check the other end of the optical cable, too, in case it was barely in and came loose.

If that doesn't work, try the same cable on another optical input, and be sure to select the right source / change the receiver settings to make sure the test is valid.

That makes me think of another possible cause -- are you sure you plugged it back into the right spot?
