HDMI Audio Converter?

Thread Starter
Anyone know of a product that will convert HDMI with surround audio to: HDMI output with 2-channel audio? This "converter" must have one HDMI in and one HDMI out ONLY (plus power).
We're going from the 4th output on a matrix switch to a four-way splitter out to four TVs. The first three outputs on the matrix switch are going to surround receivers.
Any ideas??

Add a cheap pre-amp that can convert surround to 2-channel. Cheapest way I found.

Also, you might try Optava - they have a switcher which will convert to RCA and I think Toslink.

As I understand the OP, he was looking for a device that was HDMI in and HDMI out that would convert the digital multichannel in to a 2 channel digital out in the HDMI stream. As I understand the AT-HD570 it will extract the audio streams form the HDMI input and convert them to analog format or present them in digital format to a optical output. I was not aware that the device could re-insert the down mixed audio in the HDMI output stream.

Does anyone know if it can actually do this?

We looked a while back for someone and we could not find an audio injector for HDMI. Only way I can think to do this is to then decode the video, recombine the audio and then get a converter to go back to HDMI. There are also HDMI license holder issues with the "decode the video" part.

Replace the TV in the 'non-AVR' Zone with a model that includes SRS HD support.
