Seeking advice on speaker placement

We just moved to a new house and I am trying to find a good placement for my home theatre speakers and gear. The fronts are vandersteen 2ce's and the rears are vandersteen 1's. Center is also a vandy. The room is in the basement and has 9 foot ceilings. The wall I am thinking will be the front of the HT is marked "A." The O's are the approx spots for the speakers. I left out the front channel since it will likely follow the placement of the others. The back of the room is space for my wife and is basically tables with clothes on them. The room is carpeted and the walls are drywalled. I have a projector and will likely be shooting the image on wall A. My preference is to find the best spot for the speakers and then place the screen accordingly. I listen to dvd audio and sacd about 40% of the time, 25% two channel and about 35% home theatre.

A picture of the basic layout is attached.

Where would you recommend I place the speakers? Any suggestion on room treatments or ways to get the best sound out of the room?

Thanks for any help. After being in the same room for the last 13 years it is a challenge to work with speaker placement. Any help will be very much appreciated.

A Vandy man............NICE!
I run Vandersteen Wood signature Quatros in a similar room with a projector and positioned close to what you have and it works great. You may want to play with angle of the speakers rake and its toe in but I think you will like what you end up with. Cheers

Vandy Jr compared to your Quatros! Nice!

Thanks for the feedback. How far apart do you have your fronts? What distance do you sit from them? What sort of toe in are you using. Any suggestions on paths to experiment would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks again.

They are about 8 ft apart maybe a hair more, toe in is slight just enough for proper focus but a Vandy will work without it often. Seat is about 11-12 feet back. I use Michael Green tune panels in corners floor standing and the triangle corners up high. I also have one at each forst reflection.
But I all the same think give or take some minor tweaks in position and toe you should find it works very well.
